Daily Medals/Achievements (Service Ribbons) - update 2

  1. NovaAustralis

Planetside1 did a great job with ribbons and achievements.
    See this link:

PS2 could also go the same way.
I'm confident the PS2 Dev team are working on it as we speak.
GU07 might even include some more improvements.

    1. Here are some ideas for ribbons to encourage greater participation and teamwork:

Alert Ribbon - participate in an Alert (must be on continent with the alert when it finishes, no XP awarded and doesn't use daily 5 count)
Feeling The Heat Ribbon - participate in an Alert on Indar (must be on continent with the alert when it finishes, no XP awarded and doesn't use daily 5 count)
Cold War Ribbon - participate in an Alert on Esamir (must be on continent with the alert when it finishes, no XP awarded and doesn't use daily 5 count)
Seeing Green Ribbon - participate in an Alert on Amerish (must be on continent with the alert when it finishes, no XP awarded and doesn't use daily 5 count)
Alert Victory Ribbon - be in the faction that wins the Alert (must be on continent with the alert when it finishes, no XP awarded and doesn't use daily 5 count)
Alert Dominating Victory Ribbon - be in the faction that wins the Alert via Dominating Victory (must be on continent with the alert with it finishes, no XP awarded and doesn't use daily 5 count)
Transporter Ribbon - provide transport for 100 players (11 seats on a Sundy or Galaxy = 10+ trips with a full complement. Or one player could get in and out 100 times... have fun grinding that out if you have no life.)
Spotter Ribbon - get a Spot Bonus for 20 enemies killed (makes Infiltrators more relevant and encourages ALL players to spot more.)
Headshot Ribbon - get 20 Headshots (this one is just for the Infiltrator to encourage and demonstrate good sniping.)
Hacking Ribbon - hack 20 turrets or terminals (this one is just for the Infiltrator to encourage using this particular skill.)
Crisis Generator Ribbon - compromise or stabilise 20 generators

    2. It would be good to see a summary of ribbons and medals a player has earned.
Something that, at a glance, gives you an idea of the play-style of that person.
    E.g:
15 Ribbons for Sniper Rifles, 10 Ribbons for Anti-Pers mines, 5 Ribbons for Pistol, but nothing else = indicates player mainly goes Infiltrator.
15 Ribbons for LMG, 10 Ribbons for Rocket Launchers, 5 Ribbons for Grenades, but not much else = indicates player mains Heavy Assault.
This could even be shown on the kill-screen.
At the moment, only the player can see their medals and ribbons and that's after going two levels into a menu.
    (Menu - Stats - Weapons)

    3. What ribbon related ideas / changes / improvements would you like to see?

  2. ABATTLEDONKEY

Im not against the idea of ribbons and such, so long as they are a side note, and not a main attraction. in any case, Prepare for the COD comparisons lol
  3. Neopopulas

More ribbons is always a good thing. Its a carrot and stick sort of thing. You give people ribbons for things you want them to do (healing, repairing, etc) Hacking terminals? Ribbons! People will to it way more often.

Also, let them display like the decal on you shoulder, putting them somewhere on the armour, so you can SEE how badass you've been, that will be a HUGE draw to get people to do it more often. (Fixing decals to be OVER armour would help too.)

  4. Nathaniak

Vehicle Ramming Ribbon - 10 ramming kills (Give Gals something to do)
Ammo Ribbon - 50 ammo resupplies (remember that 1 person can provide 4-5 resupplies if they're empty)
Defence Ribbon - partake in 10 defences (currently no obvious reward for defence - XP bonus not known by many)
Extreme Menace Ribbon - tracked seperatly for each weapon - kill five extreme menaces
Deploy Kill Ribbon - get 10 Deploy Kills (where someone who's just got out of your vehicle kills something, fyi)
Point Capture ribbon - capture 10 control points

By the way, if you look in the files, there are 3 base ribbons - one for each continent. Interesting, eh?

  5. Goretzu

I kinda assumed when they said ribbons they'd be like they were in PS1, certainly it would be nice to be able to display them.

    New Ribbons
    • Resupply - for resupplying ammunition to friendly players, including vehicle resupplies. (Everybody likes this guy...)
    • Air Deterrence - for surface-to-air damage inflicted against enemy aircraft.
    • Air Superiority - for air-to-air ESF vs ESF kills.
    • Anti-Tank - for destroying enemy tanks.
    • Recon - for motion sensor and scout radar assists.
    • Spotter - for spot assists.
    • AMS Support - for supporting your team with Sunderer AMS spawns.
    • Marksman - for infantry vs infantry kills at ranges >= 70m (Shooting someone in the face at point blank range doesn't make you a marksman. It just makes you smarter than the guy you just killed).
    • Vehicular Combat - for roadkill and ram kills while in a vehicle. (Friendlies don't count. Yes I'm looking at you guy who drinks and drives against regulations.)
    • Point Control - for capturing control consoles and kills around them.
    • Savior - for saving your teammates from certain death. (This does not include killing friendly Vehicular Combat guy).
    • Objective Support - for overloading, stabilizing, and destroying generators.
    • Squad Spawn - for providing a spawn for your squad members via beacon, Sunderer, or Galaxy. (Everyone likes this guy too...)
    • Deployment - For deploy bonuses from transporting friendly players who go on to earn kills shortly thereafter. (Also known as the "Holy crap did we just make it through that alive?" bonus)

    They got there eventually! :)
