Flying aircraft in PS2 is suicidal

For those of you that weren't there this happened on the Mattherson server around 7ish EST. There were about a platoon of mixed AA units and engi support with an ams on the canyon plateau. It literally took about an hour and half for the majority of the empire to take down this platoon by rushing them with Libs and Gals.

The balance of power is blatantly flip flopped in their favor and is borderline griefing. Having a small organized unit like that shut down an entire warp gate specifically if their nearest territory is Rashnu is unacceptable.

AA, of the non base defenses/vehicles variety, shouldn't be allow to supplant the role of eliminating enemy air... they should be a deterrent. Meaning limited range, only effective vs. hover spawn camping type of enemy air.

Then you don't have the render issues... base AA turrets, Skyguards and AA in vehicles should also serve as additional deterrent, leaving the role of air superiority up to air. It needs to be an air to air counter.

Infantry vs. tanks should similarly not be a case where you don't need tanks anymore. Tanks should be needed to counter lots of enemy tanks.

This game shouldn't be made into infantryside 2.0... which just makes all vehicles into XP coffins for infantry to farm. Which is exactly what PS2 has become.

Stop being bad, I hope those purple men didn't make you cry as well.

In this instance it really is poor map design, the SE warpgate will always be camped by the other factions, doesn't matter who's down there.

The only people that could possibly think air is balanced right now are the lonewolf types that got farmed in pre-GU2 update anyway (air nerf, AA buff)

ESF's and Libs were obviously over nerfed to cater to the legion of useless lemmings whining about being spawn camped in a base that was lost long ago.
If you take part in any sort of seriously organized gameplay, then you'll know that air, as it stands, is a complete joke. They are XP piñatas that move around.
There is zero threat from air to an organized platoon, no matter how much there is.

No, air is not in a "good place" right now, it should be threatning to organized squads, it should at least present some sort of risk.
In outfit nights air is basically the target of many teamspeak "lols" on who gets the last "hit" for the full XP.

While I'm not as doom and gloom as you are, ground based AA is at a point where a large outfit can completely ignore pulling aircraft in favor of bursters and skyguards to serve as their main form of AA.

Most outfits are more dangerous to enemy aircraft fielding six bursters rather than fielding six ESFs.

Look at the score/hr between 3/24 and 2/28 for Maxes, MBTs, and ESFs. First thing you'll see is that all average score/hrs increase during the month of March, to be expected with vehicles now giving four or five times more points per destroy. Second thing you should look at is how much each category changes over the month. ESFs and MBTs increase by about 250 score/hr, while MAXes increased by four thousand score/hr.

Even if you completely disregard the 2/28 MAX number as bio lab farming, it still leaves an average burster scoring about the same as an average ESF. An average max is capable of outperforming an average MBT and ESF combined. That's a problem.

I hope that this useless comment didn't give you some sort of sad depressing satisfaction to stimulate some dark sexual desire to call someone else on the internet bad.

On a side note I think AA vs Air is pretty balanced, except when you get a platoon of AA in a spot where nothing can counter them next to our warp gate. SE warp gate ftw.

SE warpgate is challenge mode. NC had challenge mode for months after release.

    OP is bad pilot

You, a lone pilot, was beaten by a swarm of enemy units.

Did you consider forming a countersquad?

Yeah this game is not static like BF3 with rounds that end, PS2 is meant to move and the whole point is that a faction wins by pushing the enemy back and capturing the warpgate, capping the warpgate part yet to be added.

So it will never be more popular than BF3, because new players doesn't get farmed by ESF's all the time?

    Get some glasses.

I hit the afterburners and climbed to maximum ceiling height as soon as I started taking fire.

It's good to see at least ONE forum member who knows exactly what I'm talking about.

The rest of the posters - not so much.
  16. Mindcrime

OP is definitely a bad pilot with no grounds to complain. SE warpgate blows.

You flew perfectly straight, there aren't many better ways of making it easier for them to hit you. It looked almost as if you were trying to get hit so you could prove a point for this video.

    Nerf the Reaver!!
  19. Mindcrime

Why would you climb to ceiling? There was an entire platoon of burster maxes.. on iwinmountain. You could of easily not avoided death by flying back down into a canyon.

You hit the afterburners and flew strait up.....

Move to the opposite direction that you are getting hit from, dive, fly on your side and not in a strait line. Use the terrain as cover eg trees, hills, rocks and buildings.
