First. Skip the "Roll an assassin" or "L2P" or "Wizzies suck this expac". Now that we understand each other.... I'm dusting off my wizard for fun and need advice. My goal is to be as effective as possible in a group setting. I don't plan on raiding for a long while with my wiz, if at all. So I won't have access to raid gear unless I buy it, which I probably won't since I'm not loaded with plat. Here's what I'm looking for: 1. Which AAs work, which don't. 2. Which spells work with fiery blast, which don't (if there are any that don't, I'm not sure) 3. Tips, tricks, suggestions on being a better wizzie. Oh, and I'm not too concerned with casting orders. I have access to dummies to test varying ones to find the sweet spot. But please, feel free to post your casting order if you want to. Or PM it to me if it's one of those super secret things. I'm just starting the ToT questline w/340 AAs and the basic ToT crafted gear if that matters. Thanks!
Couple advices (in general for caster class) a) Its sad but fact = gear>>>skill to get gear you need plat and a lot of it. To get plat farm dirt encrust keys - depend on servers and day they sells anywhere from 500 to 900 each b) do not underestimate effectiveness of your weapons (procs) and specially ranged weapon - it been advised to get something with "early advantage" c) do ToT signature line - it yield decent set of gear that will carry you easy over all Advanced Solo instances - in matter of fact if you complete all 27 onland quests and 11 Maldura quest - you will rewarded with best casters neck in game d) I been told (and found it hold water ) - try via reforge and adornment get soft caps on haste/spell casting speed/multi attack/AoE attack/Reuse speed... e) Double cast is matter - thus get it over 60% ASAP - basically cloak + belt + neck should take you somewhere between 60 to 80 range. AA specs might give you 5% of so and purple rune in shoulders another 6% f) infusers .. well I'd say stash them until you starting getting items that you going to use for a long time (like neck from quest reward) use first cheaper one until you max out and only after move forward for advanced and heroic ones
1 copy daray's if hes listed this week or mine. 2 doubles arent counted. manaburn is pointless, unda isnt counted in FB. 3 best tips and tricks are learned by playing. You will get destroyed by other dps classes , thats the nature of the wiz currently. Dont give up, hit em hard.
This is completely false, wizards can keep up with any class in the game, I have the parses to prove it so we can stop with all the wizard QQ.
Well there are many experienced players, wizards that have played for years and know the class that are complaining. Daray, I assume that is the wizard you are speaking of, is keeping quiet so I am sure he is parsing fine. Although you said wizard'S as in more then one. Are we talking AoE, ST, both? Although we don't need 10 pages of parses, I would love to see wizard parses per raid mob in an entire raid not just one or two mobs and not ZW either. Maybe a different thread as we have now hijacked an advice thread, hehe. I know I am struggling and will continue to cast my *** off..but something has changed. I am reluctant to jump on the "we are broken" band wagon but 2 months in expac I have changed my raid main because there were others that could fill that dps slot and parse higher and more consistent then my wizard. Having said that, I do still love to play the wizard, it is a fun and challenging class, I gues this is an advice thread so in short......what SacDaddy and DoomDrake said. Best of luck to you.

Well thank you for that. However, I did say #1 maybe on a different thread as this is a thread for wizard advice, #2 Per raid mob for an "entire" raid not just one or 2 mobs. What guild are these numbers from? And where are the scouts?
Clues in my signature, we do not have many scouts. Nor full raid. Also this is not "just" one or two mobs, but 2/5 of a raid, Full raid wont tell you much because it is not really competetive parsing in the bottom, but you can see how wizz fares against others. So with few scouts or a proper full raid this is probably not the best example as to wizards still being T1. Believe me, I so very badly want my wizard to be what he was last expac...maybe I just can't figure it out. /shrug Still fun though
This is reality. Most of the guilds do not have best setup, full raids. And those who do will not share with you a line from their ACT And you get what you asked for
