Mark your calendars! In 2013, SOE Live will return to Las Vegas from August 1-4. While we’ll still be among the glitter and glitz of Las Vegas, we are moving to a new venue! SOE Live will take place at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Our favorite Dwarven Overlord, Linda “Brasse” Carlson, has prepared a blog highlighting what she loves about SOE Live and what she’s looking forward to this year. You can read all about it here! For more information and updates, check out www.soe.com/soelive and make sure you’re following @SonyOnline on Twitter. Registration for the event will be opening in Spring. We can’t wait to see you in Vegas!
Really wish you guys would come to the east coast. It's cooler and more fun. And cheaper for me, heh. Won't be going though.
You would pick the exact same weekend as another convention I'm looking forward to. I really have no idea if I'm going to make it, but the odds aren't strong.
SOE was at GamesCon in Germany. All they have to do is pay for airfare for 175 SOE staff. Most SOE staff travel to the event by bus. So for airfare that's $399 x 175 people or $69,825. With ~1,200 attendees at SOE Live last year, that means the convention ticket would have to go up $58 a person. Do you want to pay $197 per person for your SOE Live badges? Also less dinner options, less entertainment options, etc. Plus most people visiting would have to rent a car, whereas in Vegas, everything is available at the host hotel or nearby hotels and you only pay for transport to and from the airport.
Well if your transport and accommodation is less then $100 you come out ahead, besides why should the USA get most out of the event it's not like America is the entire world and the only consumer base. also there's more then two continents SOE.
The point of Feldon's price breakdown is not that the US/Western US is only consumer base, it's that SOE is centered in that area, and so it is most cost-effective for Live to be in the vicinity. In which case Las Vegas actually works out better for the fan base than if they held it in San Diego, since in LV there's little need for transport to restaurants and entertainment venues - the Strip has oodles of them within walking distance, many without even leaving the hotel. Yes, for fans that live in other areas it would be more cost-effective if the convention was close enough that they didn't have to stay in a hotel or rent a car. But living close to the convention is the only way the transport and accommodations will be less than $100, and no matter what venue SOE choses the majority of the fans will not live in the area. So hotel and transport have to be included in the expected costs.
You always pick the weekend the Rally starts My house is filled with Sturgis Rally guests from August 1 - 12th
cant afford to go there, too expensive for flying, or too long for cramped bus rides. wish they come to Cleveland or Pittsburgh, or other large east-coast that i can travel for 1 day event. i still watching and waiting for "house deed" transfer that was mentioned at Fan Faire, and there no signs or any process of being made it happen yet. some players are tired of "lip services" and doing nothing.
Vukota, Sinergy, Alexsi and a bunch of the Antonica's Nameless guild on Unrest will be present! And NEVER change cities for this event. Vegas is THE best place for a convention! And yes, I'm an east coaster myself. Break out the ale cause' I'm booking a plane to Vegas!
