Just got my Coercer to level 95 what stats do I need to focus on how high should they be? Also any good spell rotations for max damage or hints for playing the class?

PoM, DM, ether balance, hostage and spell curse are your friends. Cast these buffs as soon as they are up.
Stop for auto-attack to go off. We are going to benefit greatly from upcoming change to DPS/MA. Let brainshock and asylum to tick to the end.
Cast you CAs starting with Mindbend. It procs from combat arts. With upcoming change and nice damage on wands we would benefit from ranged autoattacks too.

Specc for dragon third tree. 25% pot increase is nice and if you specc for right prestige tree you would get increase in cb every time you hit end-tree spell.

Train with a dummy for what hits the hardest based on ACT and go for those spells. Don't forget autoattacks.

I wouldn't go much over 5k ab mod. But would increase dps, attack speed, MA and cb. Pot to have is good too.

But all in all it's up to you to figure out what is best for you

113ish MA, 600 dps, 200 haste, 100 casting, 100 reuse, 68 recovery, and than basically just ability mod after that

Just to clarify for those those, the 113 is unbuffed MA. Fully self buffed you want to have 200 MA after that you hit massive diminishing returns. The 68 recovery is if you have a bard in group constantly as they give 32% recovery buff. Anything over 100% recovery is useless.

Coercers are also the mage who receives the least benefit from SDA which is prob why Ucala did not go with the 200 cast speed that other mages are doing (with the change of 100+ cast -> SDA).

no, I was being clear when I said 113 buffed, or even unbuffed, it doesn't really matter.
113 MA is about 100% (not sure on exact number, maybe like 1.01% or something) where 200 MA is 1.25% (that's 1 attack and 25% for an extra) it really doesn't make that much of a difference.

    /Bump

I was going through old posts about coercer stats and figured I'd just bump this one.

Since ToV what are the stats you coercers are focusing on? What are the caps your shooting for, what are the stat priority you think?

I personaly went for 650cc, am over 600dps, casting 100%, 91ish reuse, 85ish recovery, 230ma with self buff. little shy of 19k am, and mid 400's on both cb, pot.

I'd like to talk about aa pref but thats another post lol. Reply with what you guys are doing with stats please, would be interesting to see what most people are doing.

you have too much recovery, way over cap if you have a bard.
    too much MA too.
but everything else seems good, I would just try to push the others into either extra ability mod and/or just more casting speed, sda doesn't help much but I bet it helps more than extra MA, and overcap recovery
  10. Kraeref Well-Known Member

19k ab mod? You are way over cap on it. SDA doesn't help coercers. Go for more dps if you capped on everything. Doesn't hurt even with diminishing return.

    Thanks for the reply's.

Yea I knew I was a bit over caped on a couple things, but having a little leeway I thought was a good idea for when you upgrade gear the new stuff doesn't always have same stats on them.

Even with most things really caped, has any one thought about more haste on a coercer? Being at 230 and having some flurry doesn't seem like a bad idea really. Since 90% of the time I'm in melee range. Was just a thought. But I also been debating on possibly going for 200 casting speed. I have a bunch of white adorns I don't need and could swap to something. Also can re forge some gear back since I'm well over the 600dps, think I am at 690 now or something with my latest upgrade.

So any thoughts on casting up to 200? Or putting extra adorn slots into haste for flurry?
  12. Ucala Well-Known Member

I would go more haste before you go 200 casting tbh.
since the majority of coercer dps seems to come from auto attack, and their 3 reactives (which can not be SDA iirc).

    ^ This.

AFAIK they did not change the mechanics behind flurry, so flurry is very powerful this expac for melee damage. That is to say 100% flurry is on average 3 extra melee swings on a target (ranges from 2 - 5 additional hits). So yes if you have everything else covered i would go Haste.
