What the heck happened to EQ2?

    Most new players only do enough of that timeline to speak dragon and then immediately abandon the quest.

    Where it's just as barren as everything else unless you managed to get a decent guild and full friends list before you hit "endgame:

    Islands were very good tutorial, only echanting and tinkering were left off. Also since leveling was slower you had time to raise harvesting and crafting And it was very convenient since it was small.

    Exactly so.

    /aside: is it my imagination, or has the 'friends list' limit been increased? I used to have 256 slots available, and had to chop out one 'friend' to add another (something that royally sucked), but recently I've not noticed a 'your friends list is full' message...

    This was exactly my reaction when I returned to EQ2, and while I agree with the reasons behind it I feel the old content is going to waste due to it. They need to update it to bring it to the level of the new starting zones and give people the option of starting there again.
