Check out Mistal's guide, and all will become apparent... ;->

Actually, if you're familiar at all with the Layout Editor, the numbers are exactly the same, from what I gather; only the item ID numbers in JesDyr's are at the end, rather than at the beginning (which I think is wise of him, but the Notepad method literally just gives you the bare bones of the file itself).

My TARDIS made of books. Felt like it took forever to make!

Making a nebula for my spaceship was the hardest thing I've ever done. I originally wanted something like a Crab Nebula, but due to restrictions in-game item types I ended up with a two-armed spiral nebula instead. It still did not come out right, and, I'm afraid, never will... Nothing in game so far can capture (within the item count limits) billions of stars rotating around the center.
Basically every tile-piece of the nebula had to be experimented on, since it is an irregular shape and I had no idea what would the end result be. [IMG]

    Hey Geden,

Made a free account so I could go around to some of the other servers and look at homes. Chanced upon your ship! Very impressive and otherworldly. The corridors really gave me a feeling of being on a space ship. And I thought your command center looked great!

Well, for me, I thought it looked more like a bleeding gash in space/time, and considering your logs, that very much fit the impression! It worked beautifully, IMHO! :)

Heck, even before I read all the logs, this was very spooky...added to the atmosphere (pardon the expression!) immensely. ;->

not even wanting to know how many tiles that took... :-/

Hm...probably the castle globe on the snowglobe island. Regard:

The castle was difficult enough, it was built before building blocks came out, so it's all regular old-style dividers and tons of fireplaces arranged by eyeballing and nudging them a degree or an 'inch' at a time...then there's the globe. Naturally for the first time ever using the circle tool in the layout editor, what do I do? I make an enormous snowglobe that's visible from the top island in the TT island home (I've joked that it's visible from space!), I believe I got this image while falling from said upper island to the ground below...with the aid of a Feather Fall cloak.

Hmm...would Kerra kids be kittens or cubs...? ;->

I loved the Dr. Who episode about folks being stranded in the Ultimate Traffic Jam...there was a Human-looking gal who'd married a Kerra-like alien (I guess they'd been trying to go on their honeymoon?), and they'd had kids during all that time...cutest box o' kitties you'd ever seen! :D

Well then, may every decorating accident look this good in the end! :)
It took exactly 243 black marble tiles to create dark environment of space, and 27 of each type of misty tile for the nebula. I was farming Freeport city festival until my hand was cramped :p
Tashiara - thank you for the compliment. I really am happy that "outer space" feeling worked out :).

I've been trying to think which parts of my recent projects have been most difficult and I can't really think of any...it's not that they haven't been cooperative, but I guess when something is I've just adapted and found another way to do what I want. Even...

    Despair, the Black Violin

wasn't too difficult. Nor were my ships or my A Pirate's Timeless Tale. That one is just a HUGE multi-home project and all that's been difficult is time. I did up a viking grand hall style roof recently too and that just sorta...fell into place somehow.

The most problem I have is working around item count and sometimes figuring out what pieces to use, what colors to use...what's gonna match what, but that's about it...

I've actually done a lot more handplacing over editor moving and that's...uh been fairly accurate. Few disappearing objects here and there, but I haven't thrown my keyboard or mouse in over a year for it. Um...that's good, right?

I'll have to keep thinking...there's got to be something I found really difficult recently...

I really love this place! And the nebula looks awesome so don't fret. It really does have that space-feel. And hey you never know if you work on it later, you might find another way or item to work better/improve the design. That's happened for me tons of times.

Wow, that violin is truly unique! I cannot even wrap my head around how you came up with the item types to use for it.

This spyglass was pretty annoying to so as well.. things didn't want to line up right.

I didn't get a picture of it.. but the larger end has glass in it as well.
  15. Sapphirius Well-Known Member

Oh, I love the spyglass! *steals the idea*

Hmm...Maj'Dul stuff? Bottles? How'd you get the glass in the larger end, a Test Tube or Flask bottom? :-/

    Uwk
who also wants to steal this, badly, but can't figure out all the items...
  17. Absyntheea Well-Known Member

If I remember right, the bottles are Maj Dul merlot, and the ends are copper cups? (I'd have to go check) The glass in the end is a green glass bottle turned on it's side and sunken into the whole apparatus. It's in Yursinia's Teneborous Tangle house on Crushbone, if you want to go examine it.. It's on the top of the big observation tower at the back of the island.

It was hardest to hide all the of the necks and corks on the bottles.
