What needs to be done to fix crafting.

Since the upgraded stats won't affect you until you're 110 anyway, that's probably why. The game (or devs) may have figured there's not much point in upgrading a mount whose stats you can't use yet, anyway.

That's my guess, at any rate. Not that I disagree with you in principle; my feeling is still that we should each be allowed to play the game our own way, not be forced into specific paths by the game designers. They want us to see all the pretty things they came up with; that's all fine, but FORCING everyone to do it their way because they're so dang proud of all the tiny details is just wrong. Most people will stop and enjoy them on occasion, but people will stop and enjoy the details on occasion and when they feel like it, not because they're forced to do so every step of the way with every single character.

Agreed, the stats won't do me a lick of good, so perhaps it's just bellyaching about the principle of the matter.

However, this leads me to a second question: is the mount "upgrade" simply a name change, or a new mount that replaces your existing one? Specifically, does any mount training accomplished on the base level mount carry over to the upgraded version? Assuming I take my time leveling, it could be another expansion or three (or more, if the game lasts that long) until I hit 110 - 120. If I get Skygge leveled to 20 in that time and then upgrade, do those trained levels carryover, or does it "reset"?

That might be one that needs dev / @Dreamweaver clarification, though. That's a lot of time to see wasted, after all.

It's a completely different mount. What I've done is went ahead and start training on the regular Skygge so that I have a jump start on Skygge, Dark Terror when I finish the Sig line on my other toons.

they are two different mounts, you train them independently so if you spend time training Skygge it will stay with that and when you get your upgraded Skygge, you have to train it totally anew

In that case, it WOULD be useful to be able to upgrade the mount early. I've been training my current mounts on my lower level characters, even though they won't be able to use any barding until 110, just to give them a head start. It would be useful for him to be able to upgrade now; then when he hits 110, some of the training would already be complete.

Of course, that's thinking of things in terms of the player/customer. To them, this means you won't be paying DPC for fast mount upgrades, so that's not to their benefit.

Exactly - and I refuse to use DBC for any sort of "fast training" (too much house stuff to buy, and mercs to unlock hire anywhere). I've already swapped all my characters back to Skoria, and Skygge can sit in the stable eating hay next to Umbra. Not like I'm getting the stat benefits, so no sense in training them. At least with Skoria, I've already got barding slots unlocked for all the tradeskill and exp boosting items from the dragon event. I'll probably start going F2P every other month now, since there's no real benefits for me as a crafter to keeping membership going full time. Maybe alternate them, so one accounts always got a membership active. *ponders*

This is not directed at you.

The fact that there's no real benefit, which there really is (Double currency, exp/status bonus, etc) for crafters to sub is why crafting is an afterthought at this point.

There's actually mount stuff you can use at level 30, or that goes off tradeskill profession level. A bunch dropped during the dragon event and I think most of my alts have at least a crafting exp, adventurer exp, and status boosting item equipped. That's why I'm pretty much sticking with Skoria for now (works at level 30, and I think that includes crafting profession, too).

Another thing that worries me is not being able to do rush order writs once we get to level 111 is the loyalty tokens. I do my loyalty token nearly every day, even if I don't have time to play very long I try to do the daily tokens. Writs for stat for my guild hall and for loyalty tokens. Somedays I don't have but about 15 minutes to do anything. I do the daily token quests. Not being able to get the rush writs makes that hard and may be impossible when all of my toons reach tradeskill Level 111. I only have two of my 9 left to do that on and they are both at 100 now. Please, Please Please reinstate the rush orders for the crafters over L111!!!

Lapidia, I was just thinking the same thing earlier today. Of my 14 characters, exactly one is below 110. I have been so focused on getting them as much faction with their city TS guilds as possible before they hit 111, I almost forgot that by taking away our ability to do rush orders, they have also taken away one of our not-too-many options for earning loyalty points.

    It's depressing. :(

What I would like to see for tradeskill:
    1. Abolish the no-trade/heirloom flag on all recipe books.
    2. Stat boost on mastercrafted gear to place it in-line with heroic gear and quested.
    3. Scrap the limited use recipe idea.
    4. Stop hiding items behind overseers and lotto boxes or at the very least see item 1. This doesn't add content only frustration and tedium.

So what exactly has been fixed? Anything?
And how are those craft writs coming along?

I assume this has all arrived from the desire to make Overseers rewards desirable for all players, thus the heirloom and limited use rewards, and they stagnated crafting so it would not be competing with Overseers. 6 months in, imho, its too late to fix crafting for BOL,

I'm working on the writs right now... In my garage :p

I hate to say it but Adept may be right about it being too late for anything but bandages on BoL. But bandages are better than nothing so please work on them.

A clear and unambiguous commitment to make all crafts useful for the next expansion might do more to encourage people to create or skill-up the crafts being ignored now because they are not useful currently than anything else.

I couldn't agree more with the original posters requests or thoughts .. I have let my account go f2p because of the inability to obtain the shadow recipe books, with out which its impossible to upgrade my characters spells. the master crafted expense to make gear thats worse than quest dropped gear is beyond absurd and just a final slap to let me at least know that as a blue collar basic player I'm not wanted in this game .. which is sad.
Norrath used to be my escape , a place I could go and be self sufficient , now its a bigger rat race than the real world , sort of like walking though a cheesy casino.. every aspect an open hand demanding money . I understand it's a business, but its a business selling virtual items and experiences .. the profit margin on such items has to be healthy enough to allow for a more generous business model with out slighting the business.
but I will keep reading update notes and hoping that a little more thought might go into things .. hope is cheap I can afford that.
