Songspinner Mercenary Crates are now available in the Marketplace!

Songspinner Mercenary Crates contain a random dirge merc. Don’t get the one you’re looking for? No worries! The mercenary token can be traded in for a hefty amount of status. Katastra Vilehex is the most elusive mercenary available can be found if you’re extremely lucky when opening a Songspinner Mercenary Crate.

Mercenary crates are each 799 Daybreak Cash and look for discounts by buying bundles of crates at the same time in the Marketplace.

These crates are only available for a limited time! Don’t miss your chance to pick up these unique mercenary appearances while you still can.

Martial Mercenary Crates Retired Tuesday, August 4

Each of these crates is only available for a limited time. This is the last week for Martial Mercenary Crates and your chance to get a random monk merc.

Martial Mercenary Crates will go into the Norrathian Vault at noon PDT on Tuesday, August 4, 2015.

Wouldn't you like to get what you paid for? We're seeing more and more of this stuff being added. Only you can prevent the Marketplace from becoming the Marketplace Casino & Lottery.

Just say No to Marketplace gambling.

whats next in my merc crate? NOT ONE DAMN THING!! not buying it, not getting involved...you ripped us off last time with this crap, only to spend boo-kuuu station cash on the crates to get crap mercs and repeat mercs....its bad enough you added etherals to the game that has a .0000.000.0000.000 .01% chance of dropping after days of zone grinding....screw that.....

    bring soe back please?

I'm actually considering buying a crate. My husband bought a 7 pack. He sold 6 of the 7 and our guild level went from 78 to 80. I figure if I don't get what I want our guild will stand to benefit greatly. Cheating? Maybe. But we've been leveling this guild for 6 or 7 years. These are as good as doing the Nebulous newsies quest.

I am tired of paying Daybreak to get stuff.Reminds me of Shaiya, the most expensive free game ever.

I have to tell you I think adding limited time game content, such as expiring mercenary crates, is the height of absolute stupidity. Do you value your developers time so poorly you'll make them waste their efforts on throwaway content? Do you think your customers, me included, are so stupid we will rush to pay for content for the bragging rights that we well... that we PAID for the content to get its bragging rights? Treat your developers and your customers with a little more respect, and you'll get more customers and have happier developers. Win / Win.

Hey quick question about the depots for TLE, could you maybe list how much each container holds in the Marketplace description? A bunch of people bought the depots expecting them to be the same as the tinkered ones on non-TLE only to find they hold less.

What's in my mercenary crate this July? This is a shameless dig for cash. Even the post is a 'songspinoff' of the advertisement "Whats in your wallet?"
Spending the equivalent of $7.99 for a chance for a rare merc and if I don't like it, I can just trade it in for status?

I agree 100%. The way that DBG has marketed these, the consumer who wants Katastra Vilehex is continuously gambling with real money. I'm ashamed to say that I have spent way more on these crates than I should have by trying to make up for my losses. All I wanted was Katastra and anything else was a loss. I have also levelled up my guild in a way that i did not want to. I for one would like to see some compensation for these purchases especially when a 7 pack has more than 3 of the same merc in it!

I have no regrets spending thousands of dollars on EQ2 expansions, items, collectors editions etc for over more than a decade... but gambling with real money is not what EQ2 is about. I have contacted customer service and they were little help, including my issue with a token I purchased during the meltdown of the lizard fiasco. "Sorry for the lag.", I was told. It didn't even unpack correctly but they said it was beyond their capability to fix it! "You can try to gain traction on the forums." they said.

Considering these tokens are not even an Heirloom item, it demonstrates the obvious money grab from DBG. These crates are taking advantage of loyal customers and preying on those with gambling tendencies. In-game lottos and rare loot is generally repeatable and do not cost real cash so it's a safe way of risk vs reward.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I am ashamed... is this how repay loyalty?

Could we get the Songspinner Mercenary Crates on Public Test?

Less is an understatement. The harvest depot costs 1,000 DBC for 30 slots! That is $10! Who the heck came up with this?! Not listing how many slots are in the box really comes across as "We know people wouldn't pay this much for them if they knew what they were getting, so this way we'll get a bunch of people who spend the cash without knowing."

I think this is the first time I've honestly believed you guys owe players refunds for items in the marketplace. And no, I didn't buy one myself, I heard about it when I logged in.

I must say I feel well ripped off over their TLS harvest box ,spent 1000 DBC it did not say how many slots it had .only to find it had 30 which is not enough to cover harvestable to level cap of t5 ? this burns me up as intended for guildies to use so we can level up guild ,for SHAME ON YOU DAYBREAK ! I will not get burned a second time.

I agree with you here! Timelocked servers are PAY TO PLAY. This box is the same money grab mindset as the merc tokens! It's bad enough that you have the marketplace in timelocked at all! Back in the day, if you saw a guy on a horse... HE EARNED IT and that's what made it cool. That being said, I bought a horse but I would have much preferred to earn it. While I believe the marketplace horse doesn't belong there, it is a fair price. I have let that go for some of the items, but now you are selling this box at this price? Please start treating your loyal clients with respect. I have invested in EQ2 since the start and I am not leaving, but this treatment does not encourage me to invest in any other games that you provide.

You have to understand, I am well invested in EQ2 and probably always will be. I WANT to love DBG for other games as well! I only want what's fair, not what you deem someone is willing to pay. Honestly, if my account issues were dealt with respectfully, I would probably sign up on H1Z1 right now and look forward to EQ2 Next and Landmark. I wasn't even offered a coupon for what I perceived as a great loss from these tokens! You have taken from me! That's more subscriptions for you instead of me left with regret. Any respectable organization would look at an account like mine and throw me a bone. All I want is what I paid real cash for. I WANT Daybreak to make money and succeed, but NOBODY should ever feel ripped off, especially considering your items are virtual and can be conjured out of thin air.

Tip for developers: Google "youtube angryjoe dirty bomb". Pay attention this lesson can only be learned the hard way when your players leave in disgust: Many players don't like gambling with real money, and most of the ones who do it feel ripped off afterwards. How many times can you make someone feel that way before they play something that doesn't fill them with a feeling of disgust?
Keep pushing this stupid direction and you'll keep haemorrhaging subscribers.

Great link Diddums. With the exception of merc crates with DBG, I have avoided ALL online gambling for real money. I barely trust slot machines in real life and I certainly don't trust online gambling. Angryjoe called it buyer's remorse at the end, but that's not what it was. It's called the Chase and Daybreak knows what it's called, and knows EXACTLY what they're doing. It is wrong. THIS IS NOT WHAT EQ2 Is ABOUT!
    Chase
A gamblers attempts to make up previous losses by additional gambling; a common symptom of problem gambling. Chasing usually involves taking greater risks and/or making larger bets

I had wrote a big detailed post but decided I'd go for a simple post instead. So...

Fix the 2 inquistors I when I stupidly bought and gambled on a 3 pack of Archon Mercenary crates at the beginning of July and I might consider it...I might also consider re-subbing but as of right now I've cancelled my sub after all I'm seeing is money grabs left and right without even delivering on what YOUR selling.

I've created 2 threads done an in-game /petition and a /bug regarding 2 inquisitor mercs that have a 100% hate mod resulting me being unable to use them or even sell them for status.

Considering what others are saying, including Diddums and Blade Parker it seems painfully apperant that they would rather exploit and specifically target those with gambling problems instead of actually creating something fun and rewarding for the general membership. A person with a gambling problem will just keep spending as stated and I have little doubt that is true. Targeting these select people and exploiting the temptation while pissing off some of it's customers appears to come with no regard. If they can extract the money from the "big spenders", then why worry about the disgruntled, nominally paying "few".

I have spent thousands of dollars since the launch of EQ1, both in recurrent memberships and in game items but at least I knew what I was paying for. Instead of Daybreak forcing their loyal customers to play "Russian Roulette" over in-game items, perhaps it will be Daybreak playing this game with their memberships and customer trust. There's no doubt I am tempted by the desire of having a graphically and technically superior merc, but if I can't buy it outright then I won't take my chances. My chances aren't that good anyway. This promotion smells to high heaven.

I, too, have spent a lot of money on this game, but I have never and will never buy "gamble" boxes. I don't gamble IRL... might as well just burn my cash in my fireplace. I want to know 100% what I am buying before I hand over my cash... not a crap shoot.

These boxes are a BAD idea that just need to go away.
