We Remember...but do you DBG?

Not sure where to post this but my 2 coppers worth incoming.

As someone that has played this game since it came out, I can tell you the influx of returning players and newbies is really nice right now. By NOT giving out double coin for lower levels, you may very well be turning them off. Many of them came here to start out with the newbie quests and move through the zones since this is, after all, EverQuest and many of the returning players are enjoying those zones they hadn't played yet.

You do this game and yourself, DBG, a disservice by not also catering to them with double coin, double status, etc.

Do better DBG! Be better DBG!! This is a terrific game even though the new zones seem small in comparison to the original zones.

You know, I can understand feeling left out, but you guys are crazy entitled lately.

This whole "I'm glad you guys are doing an event, but it doesn't help ME, so you suck" mindset is insane. Don't take this as a personal attack on you, Yavie, but the initial post you're replying to (with your own thread) is over 90 replies last I looked, full of players whining because they don't get the bonus, or the bonus isn't the one they want, or whatever other complaint.

You guys know that the devs could literally just do *nothing*, right? Pissing and moaning that it isn't the bonus that you prefer is just.. entitled. There isn't another polite way to put that.

None of us DESERVES a bonus.

For ***** sake, this is a bonus and sale to entice log ins over MEMORIAL DAY WEEK/END. If you aren't happy with the bonuses, just.. don't use them. Go have a barbecue. Go to a cemetary and clean some gravestones. Whatever.

This isn't about catering to the high levels over the low levels/etc; The decision to do bonuses that focus on current content was made years ago and has followed suit nearly every time because the current content drives the money which pays the bills. Yes, SOME of the money also comes from people playing lower level content, YES, they do understand that you matter too. That doesn't mean that throwing a toddler's hissyfit and saying 'If you dont give US bonuses we are all going to quit!' is going to get you anywhere.

'Do better, Be better' should be something you say when someone has been wronged, not when you aren't getting a bonus because you don't feel like doing the current content.

To sum it up: Get over yourselves.

(And yes, this is combative, but god am I tired of seeing this same ridiculous sentiment. 'DBG needs to focus on people who don't touch the content they're actually making!' 'DBG needs to spend money advertising because people - somehow - don't know this 19 year old game that anyone who has played an MMO knows exists' 'Day Broke our game, hur hur. Now give me stuff!')

To these players I must say,
    Please do. Don't play chicken.
  7. Pauly Well-Known Member

yeah, I'm sure the sentiments would be exactly the same if the bonuses DIDN"T affect only current content. If only lower levels got the bonus we'd see extreme heartache from people who are now claiming 'get over it'.
  8. Taled Well-Known Member

There would be people complaining, yes. And I would tell them the same thing, except for the parts about the reasoning behind the bonuses.

For the record, I am NOT talking about myself. I have no need for low level coinage, double exp. or double status. I AM talking about the new players to the game that didn't just JUMP to 125, the returning players that are getting used to running their toons again. Like I said, if we want the NEW or RETURNING players to stay, we have to offer them something too. I mean, I'm really glad my 125's get double coinage, but I have been here since 2004 and have seen other double offers from the various companies and quite frankly, as I said, if we want to see more people stay, we should TRY to offer them a reason during things like this.

I AM thinking of long term usage of the game. So no, I won't "get over myself" when what I posted wasn't about me at all.
  10. Torri Active Member

just to play Devil's Advocate and as someone who probably wouldn't be logging in alts to do non-125 content anyway, what would be the negative impact of doing double currency across the level spectrum?

This, was just coming to say, this shouldn't be a bid deal. If you're going to give double whatever to people, give it to everyone playing your game. - that's not called entitlement btw, it's called Daybreak having decent respect for everyone playing their game.

As quoted, what's the negative impact? Why is it a big deal for other players to want to be included?

  12. Yavie Active Member

This is what I am talking about.
  13. Celestia Well-Known Member

Also, I hardly think it's a hissy fit to want to be included in a game that THEY ALSO PLAY. So what if most of the money goes to higher level content?

Of course they could do nothing for anyone, that's not at all the point of this post. But this. This is EXACTLY one of the reasons Daybreak is losing their player base, they don't include everyone. They gate people behind rediculous stats that shouldn't exist, and they just flat don't listen.

When I came back to the game a couple years ago, and came to the forums, I was pumped. Ready to stick around and up for the devs because I thought they must be doing the best they could. But now I'm jaded because all I see is higher level players moan and groan (yes, A LOT OF THEM DO) about the fact that lower levels just want what SHOULD BE FAIR, that they don't know how to play, they don't matter because they have lives and haven't been playing for 20 years straight, etc.

    So, this is my TANGENT.

You higher level raiders and such are sick of lower level plays "moaning and groaning"?

Maybe, just maybe that's part of the reason no one wants to raid, no one wants to group, and no one wants any part of this game. Because YOU GUYS act like you're the only ones who matter.

Ridiculous. And I have all 125s.

I'm so glad you're here to set the record straight.

I guess I'm the and such in your statement. I'm no Raider.
Do I think it's wrong for any player to want/desire these things? No
Trashing, slinging hate to the Devs, players and the Company is not required.
This is not what I would call "moaning and groaning".
If I only had a dollar for every time someone posted rage quit and didn't, I would be styling in this game.

    Who are the YOU GUYS?

Just because players don't see eye to eye does not mean players think other players don't matter.
Maybe it just comes down to maturity. Who knows?
    Priority and Twyla like this.

The fact is anyone who plays this game and pays for it should be eligible to get a bonus if other players are, period.

Sorry if I got a bit defensive and carried away. But this IS ridiculous.

And yes. A LOT of higher players slam other players when they complain about something. This just happens to be something that should matter. The you guys I’m referring to are the people on these forums that think they are the only ones entitled to something like bonuses. Like I said, just because higher content is the focus doesn’t mean crap. Lower peeps are giving Daybreak money too, end of story.

for my 2 bits...i was angry at daybreak last year because the summer jubilee left out everyone that wasn't max lvl and those events are where the little guys can shine but they did good this year and included all lvls of players to the action...so for this I don't care about all the fuss around that xtra coin or xp my little guys will be enjoying this summer jubilee... thank you daybreak devs

About the maturity comment, if I lost my cool, I apologize. It was a little uncalled for to say the devs don’t care. But here’s the thing: actions speak louder than words. People keep saying, “it’s not that we don’t care , but you guys are entitled by wanting the same thing we’re getting.”

Like I said before, if you’re playing a game that you are paying for, no matter how much you’re paying? You should be able to get some rewards if others who are also playing get rewards. It’s having respect for your game community as a whole, instead of playing favorites.

    That’s all I meant.

To me, entitlement in this case seems to be the people who are getting the benefits others are not. “Well, we’re getting it so that’s what matters.” By saying that you care, and then disagreeing that everyone should get it just comes off as immature in my opinion.

    But I have said enough.

I will say this I do remember. Even when I wish I didn't. Just think there was Years I went and throw Money after Money to SOE to play EverQuest & their other Games every single day. Now I throw money to Blizzard & Square. Sadly I wish for the old days when I could sit down & Enjoy EverQuest but they are gone. I love EverQuest & keep them both installed on my PC. My point is Sadly to Daybreak Games I do Remember. (We Remember...but do you DBG?) This is about do I remember not am playing I but like every Year in the Fall I'll be back for 1 month & to see the New Exp sadly that's all I can offer.

As a veteran, I think it's inappropriate to tie something like this to Memorial Day. Memorial Day is not a celebration, it is a somber observance, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who serve still. We still have men and women serving in harm's way. Please take a moment this Memorial Day to observe what this day really means.

Thank you for your service, and you're right. It's not a celebration really. My grandfather was a soldier in WW2 and my birthfather fought in the Vietnam War.

They were both haunted by what they saw.

So in the end, I guess it's just common sense that if a "bonus anything" is going on, it should be for everyone. As you said though, maybe it is inappropriate.
