Warlock Issue's and Concerns

    I agree with lot u warlocks, but in pvp its totally differnt game. On naf on q side there is like 4-5 warlocks i know of in high end, and most have good reason, hands down hardest class to play in pvp seen enchanters do more dps and land all spells and mez, cant even get master stuns/roots/stifles or any of my dots/nukes to land regulary with master debuff and about 451 disruption and aas in debuff, unless fighting low levels or really under geared/mastered. Nothing more then joke when u go ae people down and u get all crits apoc 300-400, chaos storm 100-200, rift 1k to 1500 normally, get lucky and maybe get really lucky and get 3k crit if there gear is reallly bad but even farmers and boters will take less dmg. and best u can do with master 2 ae nuke is1900 ish on void, all that hard werk long raids , aas, masters, to be burned down in 10 secs if dps spec or 40 seconds with mana sheild specs, even perfect focus casting with most aes that crit is scratch on bck to anyone good, but lot wont even get hit. Focus hasting is nice but i am always stunned and thrown around for only 15 seconds, solo pvp or group pvp, gonna be death either way in any smart group dead in 15 seconds and solo pvp is great but but noyone solo's so when u cant get group most time good luck 95 percent chance of being jumped ,ever time u find someone to one on one, i have killed ever class good and bad, however died to ever class too good and bad sad when healer or melee or something out dmgs u faster then u can out dps them due to fact of nerfed spell dps and half spells or more dont hit. Yes we can do good in pvp with extreme skill and luck, but unless u run around like chicken trying solo gonna take u eons to pick perfect fights , or just spend days looking for group, or run around risky style wich hardly ever pays off but when u got no choice and need tokens. Was hoping there gonna fix warlocks after eof for pvp at least, were so nerfed might as well just run like brigand but no safe house or evac or instant heal/ht/oneshot, or any heal, mez,real pet, ae fear, besides null chances are wont werk wont even attemp to double master root thats useless, so what do we have, dps, dps , dps , dps , that is almost worthless for class that cant do anything else , and wont mention other classes that can burst dps way better , and also have heals ,evac,mez,plate, ,pretty much everything besides warlock, talk about unblanced in pvp/ dont forget soe we are clothys and have nothign but are horrble pvp dps and 15 second life spam. But can go to raid and our parse T7 guilds and hit rift for 9-10k ,,, doesnt even wiz crit for that with there ice nova in pvp we be lucky to get 2500 on rift and some idiots wont even group cause they thing warlocks suck even thou we got huge handicap we are huge help if we dont get laughed out with our dps, null , ae stun, group deebuffs, power taps , useless ae roots, cast them million times if u can in pvp and hide in rat form long enough does help any group. Just had to make this post any of u warlocks that thing pvping is cake and we balanced come out and solo nafagen in the high end , or even with group. unerf warlocks dps and give us some lure unresitable chance on all spells, and we still would get owned but at least have chance, and only other classes that complain really need look at balancing in pvp or whats point of warlock, or u could always just give us spell that turns us into beer bottle or somethign so we just turn into object and thats it we can just be immune until we come out LOL

    Like most other players, I don't wish a nerf on any other class. However, something has to be done about the Warlock class to make it desireable in the end game.
    Aggro Issues. The biggest problem, as mentioned ad nauseum, is the aggro issues that use of the Warlock's class specialized spells bring. Without a pally in the group casting amends on the Warlock, we are forced to hold back our damage casting. Even then, because only pally's have the amends line, the Warlock competes with other dps classes such as the Wizard and Ranger for that amends hate transfer. Routinely, despite the Wizard out damaging the Warlock, once the tank goes down, the mob turns on the Warlock next. This is just wrong. If you're not going to give us the ability to compete with Wizards for the amount of damage, there is no reason we should be on the top of the hate list after the tank. Reduce the hate gain of Warlocks for AoE's or increase our AoE hate debuffs greatly.
    AoE's. I am time and time again surprised to find that Conjurer's, Necros, and Wizards have high damage AoE's that directly compete with the Warlocks. If we are supposed to be the specialists of AoE's, why are the single caster classes (Wiz/Necro) getting effective AoE's at all? The highest damage our single damage spell can do is 4k+ at level 70; why should we not be competetive at single damage spells, but have them compete with us on AoE's? AoE's need to either be increased in damage; or the single damage spell must be made be competitive with these other classes.
    AA's. We have an AA line that increases damage through improved crit procs. However, Wizards get Manaburn which routinely hits between 20k and 50k+. I understand why a Wizard gets that. However, why does the Warlock not get an AoE manaburn that total damage on a group encounter is comparable? More importantly, why does the Necro clast get a Lifeburn causing them to do reduced but similar single target damage way out stripping the Warlock again. Warlocks are supposed to be alternative but massive damage alternates to Wizards. Necros however are supposed to be pet class based. Giving them a single target massive damage makes them more competitive with Wizards than Warlocks are. Again, this is just wrong. Our single cast pets are not competitive with the pet class casters, why are their single target AA's more powerful than a Warlocks? Lifeburn needs to be done away with and a manaburn for AoE's needs to be granted to Warlocks.
    Utility spells. I've read a lot of talk about how Warlocks are utility based. But as someone pointed out, Wizards get better utility spells for a group or raid and are more desireable. Wizards should not have strong utility spells at all considering their primary role is just damage dealing. But more importantly, the utility spells given to Warlocks are not highly desireable. The increase in subjugation, etc., is not significant and/or unrealized by other players since there is not a huge demonstrable effect shown from the utility spells. In addition, our group/raid buffs do not add significantly to damage output. When was the last time you heard a tank ASK for Warlock group/raid buffs? Malignant grasp, et al, add insignificant damage to an encounter and don't have a high proc rate. These need to be increased and possibly have a hate reduction factor for the warlock added to them. The biggest disappointment are the power drain utility spells. When SOE first made the Warlock, they sold them as power drain and power addition utility classes. However, tanks get more power increase ticks from drink than they get from the Phantom Pillaging and Bestow energy. Because these are given to the Warlock both as offensive and utility spells, they should grant a substantial benefit to the group, especially since Phantom Pillaging increases aggro to the Warlock. Endow Energy, even in its Master form, cannot grant enough power to a healer to even do a significant heal for the tank or the group. Increase the power grant from Phantom Pillaging and Endow Energy lines to make Warlocks a desired component to long fight mobs.
    I know everyone will not agree with my assessment, but give them some thought.

    The way forward for Warlocks is not to lower other classes' AOE abilities, but to strengthen the Warlock's and to add new innovative abilities for the Warlock.

    • For starters, Warlocks should get an Evac.
    • Cast timers for the Warlock could stand being reduced across the board, with many spells being reduced to insta-casts (our debuffs and deaggroes, for example).
    • For new abilities, how about Warlocks being able to add mobs to a linked encounter? A warlock's strength lies in the amount of encounter-only AOEs they have (which will be strengthened further by reducing the ridiculous length of time it takes to cast them!) Warlocks should be able to select mobs and link them up to make bigger encounters (of solos, heroic or even epic mobs), to maximise the effects of their AOEs and also ensure that other people's encounter spells/CAs (like taunts) affect new mobs that would otherwise be outside the original encounter.
    • Also, the Warlock's encounter-wide AOEs should have the # of mobs affected increased and have the radius limitation removed completely.
    • Masters of the Void: Another special ability could be the ability to open up a portal into the void and have it swallow up one mob, thereby removing them (until they respawn, if a respawn is appropriate for the zone). No XP, AAXP or treasure/loot would be receivable; it just removes the mob. Good for crowd control in a pinch, good for travelling Warlocks who don't want a fight. Could be used in many situations, but always has the downside that it also removes that mob's rewards. Use carefully.
    • Since our root was nerfed way back, it could still stand being better than a Wizards, since they have way more single target DD firepower than we do, our root is likely to break more often than theirs, especially since we're going to fighting any given mob longer than a Wizard needs to. Unless, of course, the Warlock is made into a class that can take being wailed upon:
    • And given that many of our AOEs radiate out from the Warlock, it would seem that, by design, we should be in amongst the mobs. In which case we need skills to deflect blows away from our puny, cloth-covered selves. Another warp-type skill would be the ability to turn attacks, a magic version of riposte, if you will.
    • Nihilistics could use a threat proc in addition to the damage, like a monk's Dragon Stance. Or the Boon... line of spells need to have the hate transfer increased massively (personally, I'd say somewhere between 15 - 25% hate transfer).

    Except for the decided lack of group encounters in RoK, I cannot think of a way to improve my Warlock. It is my raid alt when I do not play my defiler and when I do get to use him( anything but Contested ) I am normally in the top 3 in the zonewide. At least half of the fights I am number 1, half I am around number 4. In all the only 2 that beat me are the main Warlock in better gear.. Necro. The rest try, but that is about it.

    Dark Infestation used to scale as you leveled...now with the upgrade to Brood Infestation, they no longer scale. This is a HUGE hit to our dps and I firmly believe we have just been smacked right in the face with the nerf bat. Please fix this ASAP! These broodlings are not going to do squat against an 80+EPIC! I really thought the devs had nailed it this time around but it looks as if this may be an oversight. If anyone can get this some attention, please do so!

    Not entirely my idea, but it might be worth mulling over:
    • Avoidance Sorceror.
    What if they were to completely redo the Warlock class, to make it as different as possible to the INT-based cloth-wearing standard of root n nuke casters? What changes would you make? [No Luddites need apply ]

    A few thoughts:

    Leather armour class.
    New armour for Warlocks, with INT and AGI as the main stats. Deflection and defense effects, proccing effects when being hit, minor-self heals too?

    True AOE specialist.
    More out of encounter spells, like Acid Storm, but with the provision that the Warlock be the centre of the storm and it radiate out from them!

    Magically assisted avoidance.
    Buffs for INT and AGI, defence, parry and deflect, disruption and focus. And a really, really nasty damage shield (self only).

    my broodlings from brood infestation are not scaleing to my level anymore. they are green instead of white, get resisted constantly and die very fast. i am in a hardcore raid guild who has already thrown out over 3 sorcerers for low dps. i do not need this type of stress. i'm already pissed that the new wizard spell doesn't inturpt the flow of the wizy casting spells but totally screws me on potential aoes or spells that didn't finish casting(wasteing a good 3 seconds) and using up my temp buff timers. or maybe i didn't get my dots on in time before the wizard imposes his spell on me. and the fact that too much of the rok content is single target friendly. you have had more than enough time to fix this bug. so either fix it or i'm canciling my account. because if i am not competeing for high dps then i don't want to play.

    #1: Where are the linked mobs at in RoK? I know you guys want to make RoK a solo quest grindathon, and linked mobs aren't appreciated by most people...But, you know, Warlocks main feature is green nukes, remember? Add linked mobs or turn 1-2 of our green nukes into blue ones, this is ridiculous.
    #2: Broodlings....fix them, not later, now. This isn't even something that needs to be argued for, it needs to be fixed.
    #3: Netherbeast needs a buff. Seriously, hes 100% useless. Yet again the Wizard pet is STILL better and more dynamic, and yet we have to pay a nil crystal for Mr. Worthlessbeast. That's fair and logical.
    All I can think of right now....

    don't want an evac, don't need more ae damage, don't need more single target damage, could get gear more specialized for warlock needs but meh...

    only thing I want... is a fully geared tank who can duel wield in offensive stance to tank all of the raid mobs.. that is all

    that or amends to be cross raid and allow for a one man 5th group so the pally can amends me ...

    PS: Hell no i don't want to be a leather wearing sissy either, and we have aa's for skills parry defense etc, take them if you want, me.. I'll stick with doing damage and lots of it
