Unable to download SocketError:Host Not Found (11001 - 205.185.208.88 - http://eq2.patch.daybreakgam

    I am having an issue and other PCs are not. I have 2 installs of the game on different hard drives. One works the other does not

    yesterday it was trying and failing on help files, today it is eq2_default.ini

    I did not get snips of the help files because it was late.

    I have same problem if i change to EU and US it does not work either change. I can however launch and play with everquest2.exe I am only posting to help with resolving the issue.

    ok just got on beta played for like 30min got kicked off tryed logging back in no luck it just shuts down tryed the us sever log and still getting that message

    Right now I'm Downloading EU. Not sure if it will work or finish but hoping to get on. Beta downloaded but was unable to get in it just shut down like it did to Gothicangel.

    :rolleyes: handling things the same crappy way they've been handling things for the past few years or so, I see. It's not about being needy. It's about paying for something for years, and getting tired of being let down time and time again by devs that seem to have stopped caring about what used to be an incredible gaming exp.

    This is a bad way to come back to the game. Can't download for a day and a half because of a broken launcher? C'mon Daybreak, let me give you my money already.

    over thirty hours now....look at the server list , hardly anyone is online as to what should be online . This issue is obviously affecting more then just the couple of people in these threads so the issue should have been top priority. As much as I had started to dislike soe , this problem would have been resolved by now with them , just sayin.

    it is still not working for me and I am in the US it is not just an eu server problem it is a use server problem

    in US here aswell. patcher wont go past 181m of 250 something. its weird , I deleted the file someone said earlier to delete , but when patcher catches back up to 181m it stops.

    Does this have something to do with the CD beta? I have not bought it, and (without meaning to brag) am having no trouble with the launcher or getting into either the EU or US servers.

    I havnt bought the expansion . I started to download the game thinking it would be nice to run around norrath again lol but this is turning out to be a nightmare for me :(

    Well I got on the EU but Still cant get on the US server.

    not sure what they did , I was never informed that an update happened but for somereason the launcher started working and finaly I could get in game .

    I know most of the above threads are about EU servers and beta , but now its Test as well ,

    tried to switch over to the test server only to have the launch pad vanish and no log in , so I tried again to the same result, and it vanishes so quickly cant switch it back to US english server to go back to what worked ,

    found some info in the daybreak faq's that noted to get a fresh install of the launch pad to delete the launcher.libs file.
    so I tried that, only to discover that there was a file open in task manager for every attempt, which had to be manually ended

    once that was done I was able to delete the file and log in with a fresh launcher ... if you have been logging in on a saved password ,remember/find it or be ready to make a new one if you delete.

    noted this here not so much to tell anyone how to fix, but to note that the launcher problem seems to have spread to Test. as well as what I noticed and did . hope this is read and helps .

    Also, doublecheck: is your ISP throttling your bandwidth? I used to have a data limit, after which I couldn't download squat.

    Hmm. Might also be helpful to do some diagnostics. Double-check your internet connection. Try rebooting your computer, your modem, and router. If none of that helps:

    (1) Go to http://speedtest.net/ -- Click Begin Test, then click Share This Result, then copy the URL it gives you into your reply here. This tells us something about your ISP, type of connection, and UL/DL speeds.

    (2) From the START button, in the little window type CMD and hit enter to open a command window. Otherwise, go to Start > All Programs > Accessories, right-click the Command Prompt and select "Run as administrator" (For Windows 8 - Press the WINDOWS and X keys together and then click on Command Prompt (Admin). Click Yes to the User Account Control message that appears.)

    (3) In the CMD window, you should have a folder address (mine says C:\Users\Administrator>) with a flashing cursor after it. Type in each of three three commands below, one at a time, and let each run. You know it's done when you get the folder address and cursor back.
    • ipconfig /all > c:\netinfo.txt
    • tracert lpj.daybreakgames.com >> c:\netinfo.txt
    • pathping lpj.daybreakgames.com >> c:\netinfo.txt
    (4) Now, go to C:\netinfo.txt, and open that file with Notepad. Copy and paste all that info here. These three commands help us see if you have internet roadblocks, and exactly where they occur.

    As I noted on another thread, I was having trouble switching to Test server.
    It would quit after checking files just as it was trying to download. When I accessed it again it would do quit at the same place without giving me a chance to change Server Set.
    The Support page suggested I delete The LaunchPad.Cache folder in the LaunchPad.Libs folder.
    When I did this it let me access the character select page again and play the game UNTIL I tried to switch to the Test server and it started the whole thing over again until I deleted the folder again fixing it.
