Hello! I'm writing up some history of Norrath and am making a chapter on the Nameless, looking for some information, can anyone provide whatever they know about whatever this guy is? Would really appreciate it. Thanks!
The nameless is/was the unknown force/deity of creation and power. It created the foundations of the divine and mortal worlds from the pure ancient chaos it drew portions of the chaos and named each under the name of the four elements of nature and power (fire,water,earth and air) these forces became the first gods. (fennin ro,tarew marr,e'ci,povar,the rathe,and xegony) They helped with creation of the foundations and eventually the gods of influence. The nameless whereabouts are unknown its existence is full of mysteries and especulations.......some believe he became a part of each plane,god and mortal in existence but that is just one of many theories.....
The Nameless is the creator of all existence. The ultimate God with a capital G. Most of the lore surrounding him is focused on his avatar, Roehn Theer, who was created with the Godslayer powers for the purpose of maintaining balance among the Gods and making sure that they don't get out of line and reach for too much power by killing them. This made him overzealous and a bit trigger happy if anyone dared protest about it. A good chunk of the game's storyline, especially between Sentinel's Fate (Odus) and Tears of Veeshan (which leads to the final battle against Kerafyrm), and the Terrors of Thalumbra (which offers some lore about certain gods who had been slain.) All the lore focuses on the very real physical existence of the Nameless' avatar, but the god itself is just... existence itself.
It's not very clear how the lack of a god controlling a certain influence affects how the universe works. There was a god of Magic who Roehn Theer killed long before Solusek Ro created Druzzil Ro, who became the new Goddess of Magic. There was a god of Nature before Tunare, and a god of disease before Bertoxxulous. We also know that Anashti'Sul was the Goddess of Health before she was banished, and it's unknown how long had passed before Rodcet Nife took over.
