Temple of Prexus

When I got my island, I wanted to do something amazing and yet something that fitted perfectly with my character. I decided on a Temple of Prexus after coming up with this story.

    The White Tigers of Prexus

A long time ago before Norrath had fully developed, there lived a tribe of elves on an island. The elves were not dark elves, nor high elves or wood elves as this was a time when all the elves were of the same single race and in that they were simply— elves. They were a simple people that lived for hundreds of years, hidden away from the rest of the world.

The island was covered in a jungle filled with beautiful blue flowers and trees. After many years of building mostly huts and straw homes, the people began to build structures out of the bright blue covered stone that was native to only their island. One of the first buildings they built was a temple. It was a temple built to not the Gods as we know them now, but in honor of the Sea. The people did not believe in Gods or Goddesses, but they knew of the sea and they believed her to be their creator, their destroyer and their fate. The sea was what they were, what they are and what they would become.

For many years the temple stood tall and proud, jutting out from the island’s jungle. And then the Rendering came. It tore Norrath apart and in doing so, it ripped the island in two. Many of the people were lost and half of their sacred temple was destroyed. Thinking that their mistress, the sea, had punished them being displeased with the temple, they rebuilt it. But this time, they placed enchantments and spells around the temple. Then the people gathered together all their wealth—gold, gems, jewelry, powerful objects and coins that had washed up on shore from shipwrecks. They placed the treasures inside a room within the temple.

Sometime later, a band of pirates happened upon the little island. The band of pirates was an alliance of many pirate factions formed under a Pirate King. The King had heard rumor of a sacred island that contained marvelous treasures that one only needed to take from the simple people there. And so the Pirate King came and invaded the island. He slaughtered many of the tribe and enslaved even more. He demanded to be taken to the treasure. Once there, he ordered every last coin, every last gem be taken for himself.

While within the treasure room, a young girl of the tribe who had been part of the escort spotted a golden sword. She picked up the sword and raised it to strike at the Pirate King, intending to end the slavery of her people before it began. But the Pirate King was a powerful mage and when the girl raised the sword, he turned to her and waved a hand. The girl’s body changed into that of a small white tiger cub and the Pirate King laughed.

Then something most strange happened. The sea protected her people. Runes carved into the walls of the treasure room began to glow. Every member of the tribe was turned into animals. Most of them took on the form of a large cat—tiger, lion, panthers. But most of the tribe took on the form of a white tiger. The pirates were furious they had lost human slaves, but nothing the Pirate King could do would change them back. And so, he enslaved the tigers. For years, he sat upon his throne of treasure with his tiger slaves.

No one knows just how long the tigers were enslaved, but it was many years. Many of the tigers kept abilities of magic that they had possessed when they were people. One of these tigers was a young female with the ability to conjure storms. One day, the Pirate King took this female on his ship with the intent of selling her. While on the ship, the female conjured an enormous storm. She poured everything she had into the storm, pouring her life force and soul into the storm. She wanted to save her people from their life of enslavement and so she gave her life to the storm. A great roar soared through the sea that night, a wail of this woman giving herself to the storm in order to save her people.

They say that another pirate, a good man with a good heart heard the cry and came. He came and slaughtered the pirates. He ripped the Pirate King’s head off with his bare hands. He brought the young tiger back to the island as she lay dying. The blood of the tribe’s enemies covered the man’s body and he brought the head of the Pirate King to him. He kneeled upon the shore, the sea lapping at his boots and he bowed his head to them. He promised to never enslave them and to find every treasure that was taken from their sacred temple. He promised to do this in honor of the sea.

The young female tiger reached a paw out to her rescuer. She bound her mind to his in the last moments of her death, giving him all her memories, all the knowledge of her people. When her last breath escaped her, her people bowed to the man. They pledged their lives to him.

To this day the great storm keeps the island hidden from the world. Only one man has been known to make it through the storm and to the other side and that man is the same one who rescued the people of the sea. They named him the Crimson Sea and look to him as a leader. It is not known whether or not all the treasure was ever found, but it rumored that anyone who took or touched a piece of the treasure that was not of the tribe met a most horrible and bloody death. Others have been heard of having lost their souls and becoming nothing more than an empty shell.

    Visiting asap, so cool looking
Edit: pictures really don't do justice to this temple. I love how your rooms flow into each other and also the feel of grandeur imbued in the walls of this monument. The story is also epic and definitely enhanced my visit as I was checking out many details and how they helped to tell of its creators. In other words - temple turned out great!
