So I had a 15 hour Celestial Overseer quest..

That is not how a Lottery works. Paying for more tickets does not guarantee you better odds. It just means you have multiple chances to draw against the same astronomical odds as the person who payed for one ticket.

Overseer is much the same. Your time & agents are your wager. Your luck (or rng) is what it is based on the loot table. My rng sucks most of time on the overseer.

Except when it doesn't...like this morning when I got a red rune of Juxtaposition from the overseer. And that single occurrence makes it playing worth it for me. You mileage may vary, lol.

Totally of the original topic, but Raff said something that was so wrong it made me giggle...

to quote, 'That is not how a Lottery works. Paying for more tickets does not guarantee you better odds. It just means you have multiple chances to draw against the same astronomical odds as the person who payed for one ticket.'

A bit of basic maths, if you buy 23 tickets against a lottery of a million to one odds, you will have a 23/100000 chance of winning, if you only buy one ticket you will have a 1/1000000 assuming of course all 23 tickets where of different numbers

Hence paying for more tickets does indeed guarantee you better odds...

    Keep it real :)

Each ticket has the same odds. The number of tickets "you" buy does not affect those odds. It just means you are trying 23 times to catch a win at 1/1,000,000 odds.
  4. Melt Actually plays the game

You're arguing logical vs realistic statistics. 23 tries at 1/1,000,000 equates to 23/1,000,000. Saying otherwise is pedantic at best.

If the quest is legendary, mythical, or celestial, the rewards should match the quest tier. No questions. Getting common loot for anything that requires such extended timers as these quests is extremely disheartening, and quite frankly, I'm already unenthusiastic about the overseer system as it is.

That's NOT what I said, this is what I said "This is nothing like a "lottery" game. In a lottery game, the more you spend on a ticket, the higher the rewards will be. This overseer game is in tiers, and the rewards should be as well."

The HIGHER the rewards will be, NOT the odds. No one would buy a $20 lottery ticket if it paid the same as a $1 ticket. Odds are still the same. The HIGHER tier quests should dole out HIGHER tier rewards, if you beat the odds.... You are talking odds, I am not. I am talking the tier of rewards that equal the tier of your quests.... it still remains to be seen if you get it in a drop no matter what. The rewards suck for higher tiered quests, period.

Some people are confusing Tier of rewards with odds.... apples and oranges. I am fine with the odds. If I get lucky I get lucky, it's a game of chance. What I am ticked off about is the literal garbage being doled out in the higher tiered mission AND that it is tied to tradeskill sought after recipes, which these agents are sent out on adventure missions, not tradeskill missions... so please someone tell me, what do overseers have to do with crafting?

All I ever got for the 15 hour missions was two 25% infusers. I intensely dislike gambling because I always lose. :(

Just give us a chance to make larger potion storage boxes for the multiple various names of the same potions with pretty much the same results that someone dreamed up as a reward. Mine is full. Thank you.

    Welcome to Evercasino!

I think they intend for us to broker the potions that everyone else has way to many of already because they are doing overseer quests too? They are really annoying when you are out actually questing and you decide to claim an overseer reward and suddenly your inventory is overflowing.

We need a special bag for potions, totems and temp adornments........like the harvesting bag!!!

Yet another inventory slot to fill to the brim!! Go Everhoarding!

The issue with this is that almost everything has the high chance to give pointless or almost useless items. From missions, PQs, status crates and Overseer.

But, I didn't develop it, i just play it.

If the potions are that useless just destroy them - I do (other than the ones that have a decent sale price).
The real problem is on the level-locked server where 2 large bags can be filled by the useless harvesting crap that can come from one overseer mission. That should be done away with.

And, needless to say, the longer the mission and the more agents needed the better the potential reward should be even if the chances of a good reward are low.

Great idea now instead of giving repeated doses of not needed, no room for, and not able to do anything with potions how about giving us an occasional agent that is not a duplicate, triplicate, or quadruplicate agent with no traits.

Actually you can sell the potions at a merchant. Only worth a gold or 2, but much faster to get rid of them that way than destroy one at a time.

It takes 5 minutes to send out 10 agents in the morning before work. Even less to rake in my ill begotten gambling loot in the evening. In terms of actual effort expended, it just blows my mind that people seem to expect treasure every time they open a crate.

Agreed. And they probably haven't played the gambling goblin. I can't count how much of my time and money he's taken LOL

Remember when it would reach over a thousand for max payout and everyone would start really dumping into it?

Yes! I've spent hours and hours and I think the most I ever got was 2g50s

I've switched to playing the forum lottery. If I see anyone from my "ignore" list in the recent posts before I get logged in, I just close my browser and go do something else. Infinitely more rewarding than the Overlord.... err, Overseer. ;)

My very first Celestial mission landed me a big payoff. I on my 3 accounts I have received 180 resolve (I think, once) and 175 resolve equipment from the celestial missions, quite a bit of superior mercenary gear (190 resolve) in addition to the usual less impressive stuff people are complaining about in this thread.

Its like a scratchy ticket - the more expensive tickets have potentially higher rewards but the crappy rewards remain the most common result.

the red VIII adorns were the craze of season 1.....what is it in season 2? all i get from any season 2 missions are rares, potions and duplicate agents (with a scattering of other various "bleh" items)...don't get me wrong I use all the stuff i get, but there isn't any real excitement for season 2 no matter what tier of mission....i just go through the motions every day and await season 3

I fell for that one many times until I realized for every 10 gold I won I spent 10 plat.
