Returning player. I am currently 97. Mostly have the 93 lvl loyalty gear with some fabled/legendary 90/95 jewelry/weapons. I solo and try to push my character to see what he can do. So my question(s) is what do I do for gear? Will there be new gear for a lvl 100 with the release of the new expac? What about the lvl 95 loyalty gear(will there be new loyalty gear with expansion?) vs questing gear? If questing where can I start this quest line? Thanks in advance.
There will be gear available to players at the beginning of the next expac. Prior to that, do the panda quests in Sundered Frontier and use his gear. If you play a fighter, you'll want to change out some things with Bloody Twark Gear (if you can afford it) for better fighter stats. Current KA expac, it's all about potency.
You need to be a member to start the Panda quests and level 100 so you can buy the gear. If you don't plan on subscribing and buying PoP do AoM and ToT Timelines + Zek (scourge)! Also the adorns and the gear from Proving Grounds can give a lot of boost to your gear
I play an SK half-seriously. To play one very seriously... well I may do that next expac but not right now. Anyway, the biggest difficulty with group-play on SK, especially before you've done all the epic quests, is hate control. Whenever you're in a group of 100s, their gear can be miles and miles better than yours, and they get attacked by the mob, not you. That's kind of the opposite of what a tank should be doing. So either group at lower tiers (there is currently tier1-4 heroic, event/expert, and raid levels, each gives a better class of gear), with similarly geared people, or plan to solo most of the time. You can wait a month and buy the next expac, also sign up as a member, and you'll get access to the Kunark Ascending timelines along with it. I dont' know what gear will be offered at that time, since it's in Beta and changes might still be made. However, the Panda quests are a better class of gear than you would get from a month of grinding Advanced Solo zones, with one or two exceptions. So for now, just sign up as a member when you are level 100, if you aren't already. That will get you started. The essential quests are still Kunark Ascending Timeline, followed by the City Timeline (for you, Freeport City Timeline), and your Class Timeline (also in Freeport). That prepares you partially for beginning the Epic 2.0 timeline for Fighter class. Epic 1.0 will be part of the prerequisite for that, so I assume that by level 97, you already did that. If not, you can probably solo it. That Epic is Shadowknight specific, so you'll be looking for Shadowknight Epic Quest, and be sure to read "Epic Repercussions" also. Everyone does that one. Tanking in EQ2 is a training system, for the higher levels. Ask your guild leaders to plan training missions for you. A good place for that is still Skyshrine. It's good to get together with others in your guild who are about to turn 100 and group with them at least once a week to get used to what to expect. With Panda gear, you can chrono to 90 and do the Skyshrine timeline together. Notice how hard it is to pull just a small group and how easy it is to miss seeing the deathwing drakes, and have them kick you around. That's the kind of thing you will want to mitigate as much as possible. Think about positioning so you can't be kicked away, especially into corners where the healer can't see you or heal you. If you want to do it at a reasonable difficulty as if it was 2012(?) again, get a set of crafted gear level 90 or 92. But if you do that, be sure to go in a 6-man group. Note: My advice is based on my experience. There may be better places to train. Your guild leader's advice trumps mine, with no hard feelings. Finally, anything you can get now, with 20-resolve will still be relevant and there are a lot of such things. Playing a character on Fallen Gate server will reward you with a level 100 version of any Heritage Quest reward. And for the next few days you can get a buff mount with great stats from the Hero's Festival -- if you go to the Test server, and create a new character there and defeat all the Puppets. Check your Acheivements tab in your Journal, > Live Events > Heroes Festival > Test: Mischeva's Champion. It's up to you, but I would hold off on buying expensive SLR gear until you have looked at what you can get from the Epic 2.0 timeline. For example, many items of jewelry are much better form that timeline, than even what you can get from an SLR. We've been told by the developers that the Epic 2.0 weapon will remain best in slot through the next expansion. So it's worth doing. Awesome guys! I bought the last expact at the discounted price and subbing it. Just missed this game, missed my Shadowknight. Don't have a lot of time but just soloing now, experiencing the content I have not done. I am using the chronomage to do quests I have sitting around. I go down easy in the current zones but will look up the Panda gear, sounds like it will help. I quit around the time of Chains of Eternity. Was in a a small guild, starting doing some raiding. Came from a PVP server before that. Miss the PVP. Thanks Semperfifofum, I do have my epic 1.0. That list is great to get me started, can't wait to turn 100.
