Bottom line is that there is a timer and just because portals spawn back to back doesn't prove that the timer theory is wrong. All it means is that the player who spawned the portal didn't zone into it so the timer restarted once the unused portal despawned. Then once a player who spawns the portal zones in the timer will be down and no more portals will spawn until the timer's up again.

how would you NOT use it? it spawns directly in front of you, and it's an easy 10k+ plat. seriously. that's like saying someone had a gold bar the size of a car just drop in front of them and didn't notice.

The above is the only reason I keep flip flopping on a timer. Over the weekend I was able to get the portal time and although it wasn't me that got it, saw one pop within. 30 minutes of 12 hours three times in a row.

But the day after it took over 3 hours and 12 hours from that nothing the entire night trying.

It has not spawned "in front" of me either time...sort of beside me, on the last mobs I killed, perhaps lag? Some players are on a killing spree. When you mass kill with AoE's the mobs may not all be in front of you ;)

simple truth is, some people just are unlucky and won't ever see it spawn.

the theory of the timer resetting if the portal isn't used is pretty whack btw, not something anyone who has been playing any MMO for any decent amount of time would believe, but this is DBG so anything is possible. i however believe it is merely a % pop chance for anyone at any given time, some people are just much luckier than others.

Whatever the timer may be...this whole thing is super cool! It's great to see folks flocking to the zone because they think the timer should pop. :D Many thanks to the Devs!

Do you get automatically pulled in, or do you have to turn around and see it, and click on it? And what does it look like? Maybe Hwy101 actually did click on it while trying to target a mob? If you spawn it, can other players run up and jump into it before you are ready to go in? Maybe you still have mobs to finish with first, will it wait for you, and not let other players take it?

Awwk, I have gotten in 2 times, thus far...one of those I was hoping we'd get this awesome 13-year old in our guild in there, she LOVES ducks! Anyway, you must click the portal.

Since I usually play my zerker & mass kill for Deity points anyway, it can be easy for me to miss (mob may not have been in front of me). If you use Act, ask someone to share the Act trigger so you hear it.

Thanks Kitty! Can you say what it looks like?

Tested and confirmed. DBG wants 2 people a day to get the portal this is how they make it possible. Better believe. Any given time is wrong. Yes, whoever spawns the portal is lucky because after all, it is a random chance, just at certain times of the day. Never the same times every day however.

It looks like a druid or spire portal opening. Easy to miss if you're mass killing and or if you can't click/see it because of killing something while it's pathing through the ground or a rock or even in the air.

didn't say i don't believe it is on a timer, said i don't believe the timer cancels if the portal winds up unused by someone.

the 12 hour timer +/- 1hr theory seems to fit best, this gives both ends of the globe a shot at getting a portal.

i tested the theory by mass murdering mobs on my zerker just shy of 24 hours after i saw the broadcast, to my surprise the portal popped right in front of me about 30 minutes before the broadcast the previous day. so i hopped in before anyone else got wise to it being there.

i can still hear the quacking.

Personally I wish they would put this on a +/- 10-14 hour, 2x a day timer. During Duck season before portal pops the overland zone are almost totally empty of living critters for quests.

It's on a timer clearly designed for young kids or people without a job or life.

Well seeing as I sleep during the morning pop and work during the evening pop I guess I will never see it. But this would be a good way to take some of the ridiculous amounts of plat out of circulation. Make it a purchased item that costs 100k from the city merchant once a week. Or turn it into a persistent instance with a 7day lock out. Other than that many of us are barred from such events because of this wonderful lotto timer deal. I don't have 12 hours a day to blow trying to guess when the portal is due.
