    Greetings all,

It was several years ago, after rewatching the "Fellowship of the Ring", that I started pondering this topic. It was the scene where Lurtz, the Uruk-hai orc repeatedly shoots Boromir with arrows. This scene really inspired me to take another look at the way I role-play my Iksar Shadowknight. I was impressed by Lurtz's utter lack of compassion, his wicked cunning, and his blood-thirstiness. While none of the orcs in the movies display any spell-casting abilities like our in-game SKs do, his dedication a dark power and his display of raw, fatalistic courage made me think of the dark brutality and black-hearted moral code that shadowknights, especially among the races of the iksar, trolls, and ogres must possess.

That made me think that there might be others out there who have favorite role models for their SKs? Any takers?

Mine may seem a lil strange, but the Evil knight in the Movie A Knights Tale. His brutality, intelligence, cunning and dedication to winning at all costs. To me fits right in with the Arasai SK of mine

I've alway thought Karl Edward Wagner's "Kane" character would have been the epitomy of a Shadow Knight. Good sword n sorcery reads if you aren't familiar with them. Wiki gives a good description of the character. Wagner brings him to life though.

Sorcery would probably require a higher degree of learning and discipline not found in regular sword swinging heroes.

    Here some famous ones!

    Lhranc
Ages ago two brothers were born; Glohnor who was highly favoured by Mithaniel Marr and Lhranc who was chosen by the Prince of Hate. These two opposing elements both shared one thing in common, their love for a priestess known as Kyrenna. Kyrenna fell deeply in love with Glohnor and for this Lhranc was overcome with rage and attacked his brother who was far more adept in combat. The fight cost Lhranc his dignity and his eye and was ordered to leave Freeport and live his life in Exile from the only home he had ever known. For an age he roamed the deserts of ro, muttering to himself incoherently until eventualy he was forgotten save by all but one. Innoruuk had not forgotten Lhranc and the dark prince summoned him and gave him dominion over the demons that enslaved his mind. He was given a weapon that was powerful enough to slay any enemy and became the first human to harness the power of the shadowknight. For years he travelled and taught this gift to mankind until one day he did sneak into the sewers and slay his lightborn brother and for this act he was forever cursed. For Glohnor was favoured by the God Mithaniel Marr and for his acts, Lhranc was deformed into a spectral knight and left forever haunt the halls of the city of mist

The missus plays a Koada'Dal SK, and up to a certain point, her description of how she (the SK) was, personality-wise, was always something that was long, involved, and not always clear.

So we're sitting watching Game of Thrones, when the wife sits up, points, and exclaims "Her!"
    "What...Danaerys?"
"Yes! Danaerys! That's my shadow knight's personality, right there!"

    Works for me.
