Returning Player Mage Question

So, I played when EQ2 first came out as a Guardian and a Defiler. Now that I'm returning I'm looking for a mage / cleric / rogue class that will always be needed / welcomed in groups and possibly raids if I ever get there. I hear soloing isn't really a thing anymore with mercenaries able to be hired.

Of the mages I was guessing that the enchanter and coercer would be the mostly highly sought after for groups and raids. Would this thinking be correct? What would you all say are there pros and cons? Are they new player / returning player friendly?

    Thanks!

With ToV illusionists are getting lots of positive improvements. They do have buffs, nice power regen and now they can parse almost like t1 if you know how to execute your cast order. Coercers are good melee group buffers and hate tranfers. They are looked for for MT/OT groups in raids.
Not much in grouping. Illies are higher in damand for groups.

But if you love your coercer as I do you won't give us this class :)

Though the best dps now is in hands of damage mages.
