Raid lag, things need to change. DEV input requsted.

To say that raiders have been very patient is an understatement. To say that raiders are beyond frustrated with the continued copious amounts of lag is an even greater understatement. Certain amounts of lag are expected with raiding, but some the raiders are coming to a standstill during many encounters. Not all raid teams are the same, but I am sure most all will admit they are tired of the lag.

On some of these named encounters we are unable to heal, fight, taunt or really any fight necessary mechanics and can end in a very frustrating wipe.

Working our ways through the zones, pulling trash, moving from one spot to another is as expected. Pulling a Named encounter is the same song and dance.. click.. click..click x 20 times mashing the same button hoping that eventually the heal or combat art will get off before a raider goes down.. before your timer runs out that you have to obey to get off certain skills. Since they are not adjusted for the lag....

Having the Flawless achievement can be difficult enough just because of certain scripts, this is welcomed. But loosing it because the script fails due to lag should be addressed.

Is it server side? Is it conveniently all 24 raiders at the same time lag on their systems? Is it the increase in use of swarm pets? Is it the resurgence of melee abilities from players and pets alike? Is it purple monkey's running the servers?

Who knows for sure, but I would like to hear from the DEV's someplace other than the raid council.

it's ignorance to think that dbg is mainly to blame for lags of its games. this is certainly not case:
    - you must be sure that everyone who is with you in raid is using full client
    - gaming routers "can prioritize traffic to your gaming PC and consoles ("Gaming-device prioritization, Game-packet prioritization (QoS).."**) —they're built to be greedy. ..gaming router reduces lag during your online game sessions even if other devices in your household are streaming or downloading. If you've had the same router for years, it might be the right time to consider an upgrade if you want to get the most of your internet"*

    - when you are all gathered and then arrived at place, you should not rush to start. do as butoh someone is late and you are marking time waiting for him (her). afterwards start your dirty things. this will reduce likelihood of lags, especially if your toons previously have some interaction with each other. buffs, trade, talk, etc. let place get used to your toons, and your toons to the place with its environment. after everyone wanted to move faster and faster and they were given this, after that whole game was not optimized to new requirements of players, and it could not be optimized to sufficiently satisfactory degree for new speeds of players... so such raids that, as saying goes, will throw off their ardor, they have will receive less chance of problems due to lags... there are also well-known ways to optimize the game for it speed - and this can be seen in the settings. make everyone with you use settings for performance rather than quality even if they have powerful laptops

Jesus, we should have a "shouldn't have pressed submit" award for stupidest post of the day. There have been some competitors, but this one is outstanding.
Do you really think 24 people all lagging at the same time is anything other than server-side? You think they're all sitting together in the same building using the same wifi? Seriously take your nose out of the brown and wake up please. The game is there to be played, you shouldn't have to make allowances, limit what you do, how many features you use and when, just to compensate for terrible server performance. This problem has also been going on for a long enough time that you can reasonably assume most, if not all raiders have taken all the steps they could collectively research to reduce lag on the client side.

Some times its better to say nothing when you have no clue what you are talking about.

You are part of the reason why this dev team can do nothing and still earn money on such a broken title. Jesus christ.

The only ignorant post in this thread has been from you and it shows a clear lack of knowledge about anything related to the issue OP posted about.

As for the thread starter question; Yes its server related and its not just EQ2. EQ1 has lag issues too.

 ..well, don't use wi-fi if there is better network connection (although i have both dsl and wi-fi same well work for this game). just, need functionality of hardware network settings for games is implemented in wi-fi game routers. there are no game modems. plug in wired connection and enjoy. there are people who use wi-fi routers only for wired connection and they have no idea why they need wi-fi..
how to connect a router to a modem
    https://www.wikihow.com/Connect-a-Router-to-a-Modem

how to connect to the xDSL line
    1. go to dsl modulation settings
    skip the setup wizard.
    2. manually set dsl modulation (choose dsl type as required by isp)
    3. set wan port (enter data according to isp requirement)

an alternative to purchasing gaming wi-fi router is to use program such as iobit game booster (there are other like programs). you will get similar result in terms of optimizing network for games (they also optimize lot other for games, so take closer look anyway if you have not used such programs before)
    https://www.techspot.com/downloads/4842-game-booster.html
but another important note is protocol for transmitting packets during any online game - it's unreliable and loses packets, because it's udp (commonly but not necessary). this is price to pay for speed of game that many want. and here's your lags.
therefore, such programs are of little use if they don't take this circumstance into account

i'm using linux and i'm not worried about problem of lags in this game. except in rare cases when it's dbg's fault. once i remember this when people massively and simultaneously received in some delay zones

so people in an firm like asus are not fools - they just made sure that you play any online game without lags. just an opinion. if you don't like what r'g is written by, just add to ignore..

Sol eye and PoW are particularly tasty these days.

Pull a mob and voila, its like lag on demand. Can safely say that we have wiped more due to lag then the actual scripts.
  11. Melt Actually plays the game

I've had significantly less lag in PoW since they removed the surge damage

It's a huge part of it. Granted, pulling a bunch of trash together achieves the same thing, surge does absolutely nothing to help. At least trash doesn't bulwark and you miss it completely because it just won't cast

The PoW attacks that hit clear across the zone can't help.
