You may have noticed some exciting new items hitting the in-game Marketplaces. By their quality and creativity, you might think these were handmade professionally by the artists here at SOE. We don’t blame you for assuming that – the items look amazing – but that’s not the case! These are the first of many items made by players, for players, in Player Studio™. Take a look at what your fellow players have made!

For every Player Studio™ item sold, the creator earns money, which in turn means more items made and more items to buy! Let them know which of their items you like, which ones you don’t, and what kinds of items you would like to see created next over on the Player Studio™ forums.
And remember, you too can design and create items for your game of choice. Player Studio is currently available in FreeRealms, EverQuest, and EverQuest II. Create items, earn cash, and change your game today. For more information on Player Studio™, click here.

What kind of money? In game coin? Or real cash?

If it's the latter that ... doesn't sound right.

Why shouldn't people earn real money for doing design work? It's like working free lance, essentially. Station cash would be, essentially, useless, since it can only be used to buy fluff, research reducers, etc.

Imo it should be an RL money kickback. A player went through the trouble of designing a model and texturebase that fits in the world of Everquest 2 and actually saved Sony a fair bit of time in having to start from scratch.

And yes, the player who created the item does receive real cash. From the FAQ - "If a player-created item is selected for inclusion in the SOE Marketplace, SOE will share 40% of the net amount it receives from the sale of the item with the player that created the item."

Dexella, any word on getting the in-game picture frame models and templates available yet? I've got some plans for in-game paintings, but would need the UV templates and frame .OBJ files to do preliminary testing before submitting anything.

What determines the 'net' that SOE uses for the basis of the 40%? Since these items are purchased with SC, and there have been MANY promotions, most people do not have a $1:100SC ratio. If item A costs 1000SC, that 'net' could be anywhere from $0 (free SC granted to accounts) to $10. If you exclude the free SC, you could still get 1000SC for about $3.75 (Wal*Mart card, triple station cash weekend).

I think that the chest is a beautiful house item! I have no idea who designed it and even though I don't have any immediate plans to place it somewhere I bought one. It's such a nice piece I'm sure I'll put it to good use soon enough.

Video Game company Net takings is impossibly complex, and dodgy companies use it to horribly rip off developers. I do not think SOE has this reputation however, and would hope/trust that they give a decent rate to folks.

The chest is very nice and well done. A tad showy but that suits the recent style of the game well. The cloak seems a bit random but hey.

If I was in the US I would definitely provide items for this.

The chest looked amazing and was an easy item to say yes too. The artist did a great job.

Oakbane of Butcherblock. We talked last night and I got to see a teaser of some things he's working on.:eek:;)

I dunno it just doesn't feel right to me. I can't put it into words. I guess after years of making things for mods and not getting paid .... /shrugs

If you have talent go for it. Each their own I guess. It was a valid question for me.

I guess it's also because SoE chooses what will be put into the game (and not players if I read that right). Hopefully everything that is made (of course using the guidelines) will be eventually released so those who spent time making something isn't denied because SoE didn't find it "pretty enough" or whatever.
