PC Reboots while playing EQ2.

I've had this issue since adding my 3rd monitor. At first, I thought it was my graphics card that couldn't handle the 3 screen load, so I replaced my GeForce 770 with a GeFroce RTX 2070. Problem persisted. Found my BIOS was corrupted and I couldn't fix it, so I got a new motherboard. With the MSI MPG Z2390 PRO Carbon, I got new i7-9700 processor, 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, & the MSI Cooling Core Frozr XL. (I snuck the last item in the cart before my wife noticed it.)

After replacing all of that, my rebooting issue continues. I'll be in the middle of playing and my computer will completely shut off and start right back up on its own.

Now I've ordered a replacement 850w power supply to see if that makes any changes.

As for the game, I've reinstalled it and verified the game assets to make sure all of the files are good.

I've ran a sfc /scannow and no issues were found on the SSD the game's installed on.

I've ran resource monitors and temperature monitors and nothing seems abnormal.

You'd think that this much hardware overkill would be able to run a game as old as EQ2 with no issue, but....

    Any updates?

Personally, I would have just unhooked the 3rd monitor. And I am not sure why hooking up a 3rd monitor would cause the game to crash.

First off, if your system dumps right to bios as though someone physically hit the power or reset button on the CPU chassis,
this sounds more a hardware issue than software.
Blaming EQ is like blaming the proverbial Dutch Boy for not plugging all the leaks in an already failing structure,... ;)

So to determine what is awry, try using some benchmarking softwares like Sanda and the like:

    https://www.userbenchmark.com/
    https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

also, SpinRite at Level 2 can test the integrity of your SSD:

(best HDD/SSD maintenance software ever developed)
[but doubtful your storage medium would cause reboots]

If its rebooting itself, sounds like its losing power somewhere. I'd guess probably PSU problems. Might want to be extra careful using all those new components if you suspect PSU is dodgy...

    Hi guys,

Ive also had a similar issue, with unexpected and frequent system reboots. Like everyone else I really didnt think it was an EQ2 client issue, that just doesnt really make sense.

Initially it was so random I didnt bother about it. But after it happened three times in an hour I decided to look into it.

Just to clear the air of the obvious, I have been in the game every time it has happened. Ofc this doesnt necessarily mean it is the game, with so much going on in background.

So I did all the normal and boring things - memory diagnostics, checking PSU, closing down everything I could (including anti virus and firewalls etc), driver updates, etc etc etc :) .

    I dont OC.

I stress tested the system for eight hours with no hangs. My GPU temp never went over 82% and my processor was well within normal range (I forget the exact number). I used third party to monitor the temps.

My system is seven months old, so still bit early really for a reformat just now. The core components are a Rog Maximus XI M/B; i9 (9900k) cpu; Asus OC RTX 2080 Ti (11 gig DDR6); 32 gig Corsair Vengeance Pro Ram (running at only 2133); Samsung SSD 860 QVO 1TB system disk; and a 2TB storage disk.

The game is installed on system disk. I play using a 144 Hz Predator monitor at 1440p. I have an older second monitor running at 1080p.

I have changed the W10 settings so it does not automatically reboot, including after BSOD.

I have noticed that sometimes it happens immediately after I have issues with my mouse (icon disappearing - possibly just my old eyes btw!!), and if connected via cable I try resitting it. I cant be certain but I think it has never rebooted when I have had the mouse connected via wifi. It is a logitech G403. I really have no idea if the logitech driver is causing probs, but I guess in that case you would expect it to happen in other apps. I havent installed the logitech software suite.

Anyway, that's my story and I just thought I would share just in case there might be some similarities.

    Cheers all!
