Nonsense. The producer should be involved in all aspects of the game.

I have european and australian members in my guild and to lose them to some ridiculous, ill-conceived IP block would cut out a vital chunk of my membership, and destroy our early-US-timezone presence.

    Do not do it.

And now (at least on my server, can't speak for others) we get an in-game mail poll asking about how we spend our time whilst playing. Although not overtly anything to do with this PSS1 business, and probably just to get a feel for what aspects of the game we all like best for future refence (hah), I just can't help the cynical thought that this is a way to gauge how many people they will annoy by region-locking and tearing up guilds/friendships/customer bases.
Personally I made sure I mentioned lots of "socialising with friends", "grouping with friends" as that (for me) is the most important aspect of an MMO and would be destroyed by region-locking.

On an unrelated note: Still nothing about this SOE silence and our fears on any non-EQ2-specific gaming websites... hmm...

and yet again we see why this complany is going down, at an alarmingly fast pace.
(if you have stocks in SoE, SONY or their many other tenticales brancking out.. SELL NOW!)
everything we ever see from them, is 10% information, and 90% avoidance of the same subject, or plain and simply just lying about it.
like this socalled "discussion" .. where they on purpose (with several supporters checking every post written, hourly or more)
A "discussion" where they have purposly choosen to remain silent from day one, going back quite a while, while they were selling us out. ... and ofcause also remaining silent about that aswell.
Now i laugh hard, wery hard everytime i open the launcher to see "we show SoE Loves our Players"
HOW ?? by ignoring us completly, selling us out, or only beeing able to do it by backstabbing.
Sure, ill buy that ... if every emplyee under SONY, go home and try how that would work out in a real reationship.
and yes im wery sure each and every one would be suprised, when their parterns just up and left them, if they tried that.
Just like this will only ensure players will be leaving on mass.
why else do we get more "good offers" now than ever before, if not to drain this dying dragon for every drop of blood they can wring out ... at the players expence ofcause.
I think this post more than anything else shows us players, not only the level of "support and service" that we have known to be lacking for years, is also their future way to rip people off for decades to come.

    They don't give a flying ...
You can post here and argue as much as you'd like, they'll do what they want to do anyway. Want to voice your concern ? Uninstall their game and never play it again. They will never understand if YOU stay here and give them money month after month.
You're then irrelevant , they keep quiet and you keep paying. Understand they don't care at all, so make a choice or shut it.

So 2012 hmmm Are you an old player or new to EQ2? If you are new maybe you just don't understand. There are those of us that have played together for a good long time. We are only asking for a fair answer. Will we be IP locked, will we be unable to go back to US server, will we be isolated, and what about EU on US server. Those are not hard questions; they are fair questions
So no to answer you I will NOT shut it.

No i am not a new player, but I understand how soe works these days. The sooner you do, the better.
Eq2 has changed and not in a good way. If you think they care about you, you're dead wrong.

Even though EQ2 has changed massively, I still love it, and a large part of the reason for that is my friends. I don't want to quit playing, regardless of how bad SOE can be, because I still enjoy my game. I'm not the kind of person that just switches to something new - not much else out there appeals to me anyway. I have played EQ2 for all these years in full knowledge of SOE and their practices and attitudes. Yes, if I did quit it would send a tiny financial message to SOE, but I would be hurting myself much more because I would be losing the game I love (I think the phrase is 'shooting myself in the foot'). And thats what all of us on this thread are desperately hoping won't happen. Why quit to protest about the possibility that we'll be (effectively) forced to quit. That's the dilemma we are facing. Yes, maybe PSS1 will end up with my data, but personally I'm less worried about that (much of my data is all over the place on various services anyway) than I am losing my friends and guild by being booted off my server. I'm not quitting before I know what is happening. For all we know (crosses fingers) nothing especially bad will even happen and I will be able to carry on playing my game as I do now.
Telling us to "shut it" is meaningless & unhelpful. This thread sems to be the only place where those of us likely to be affected by any insane restrictions can express our frustration together (however the ignored by SOE the posts may be), and we are entitled to do so. (It helps to know you're not alone in your anger and worry). If you read all the posts you will see that none of us are in the slightest bit surprised at this silence - we all know SOE too well by now. But most of us simply want to play & enjoy EQ2, not quit and lose our game. If we were all happy to just quit and go elsewhere, than this thread would be unneccessary. EQ2 is what we care about.

I think you 2 misunderstood you a bit, perhaps the way I phrased it was not the best either :).
I wasn't trying to be rude to the few people they still care about the game, I was simply pointing out that we ( you ) can talk here as much as we want and no one at Soe cares. if they did they would never treat their customers like this.
I was also pointing out that if people are unhappy but still continue to pay simply makes SOE think they can do pretty much anything and get away with it. Yes, I understand about friends, guilds and such and this is exactly what SOE is counting on to keep people here while still treating them badly. The only way to make them understand is to stop paying, maybe then they will start to treat their customers right. Otherwise they will continue to drive this game into the ground until they'll kill it. How are you then going to play with your guilds / friends then ?
    That was all.

If they region lock they will rapidly find out what it takes to get people to stop paying..

    This.
ATM there's no real reason to quit over this partnership as nothing changed... yet. (well, I guess, some people hate PSS.1 for whatever reason and have already jumped ship)
What's upsetting is we don't even know the scope of the partnership. Is it something like the deal SOE had with Ubisoft back in KoS era ? Or more like what they do with Akella for the russian servers ?

After the Berlin wall was finally brought down SOE and ProSiebenSat.1 reconstruct it on a much larger scale.
