Hi, I've been racking my brain as to what happened here. I've included 2 image links to a notebook I wrote about a year ago. When I copied and pasted then, everything looked fine as I recall. As I open them now, it appears that the formatting has changed somehow. My screen: https://drive.google.com/file/d/106hmsSjbNW-9oYUC3-fxcZlWr_4znJcu/view?usp=sharing My friend's screen: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jyqQFcwXNCKg5E9QBG1VxZ7dKzWhcaMk/view?usp=sharing There are many book bugs that I can maneuver but this one has me stumped. I am not sure why both come up differently on 2 different computers. The tilde lines are supposed to line the tops and bottoms of each page, as they did in final format. Yet in each view they are mangled differently. Is there a bug responsible for this or am I somehow overlooking something obvious? Thanks, Skyfire.Shhh
Update: compared with another friend and same issues. The text for the books seems to load differently for everyone. Even things like bullet points are twisted on either end. Notably Cloudrat's coloring book has become gibberish. Tried changing resolution and chat size to no avail. Is there a way to keep the formatting in the author's edit? I know this is silly but it's been stressing me out, these books are a large part of the game for me. Thank you <3
I've noticed the same issue. I think a lot could be improved if we could use a hard page break, even though I'd assume full control is impossible due to UI differences, as well as font issues (the small sans serif option will completely break any attempt at layout). It would be great to get that option, or some input on how the dev-made books work (obviously we won't be able to put any code-based commands, which I must concede is very sensible) so we can develop a workaround!
We've narrowed the issue down to kerning differences (in the standard serif font) between the standard UI and darqUI, so that's progress. Still, a hard page break option would still be beneficial, since we don't have control over the sans serif/ serif fonts that people might be using... I'd love to have reliable page breaks in player-made books! Although I am also aware that they're not very high priority
The screenshots are not appearing for us. Can anybody PM me a character name and server with the notebook with the issue in their inventory? If it is an issue between standard UI and a 3rd party UI there will not be anything we can do.
I'll PM you a few examples of books once the servers are back up! The issue is not limited to a single notebook. And as a direct comparison: The first image is the book in the standard UI and I have highlighted spacing differences I could spot by eye in the first few lines: https://flic.kr/p/2nrZN5v The second one is the exact same book viewed in a 3rd party UI. Note the differences in line breaks - this i what affects page breaks if any block on a page ends up a whole line shorter. https://flic.kr/p/2nrZN62 (please let me know if the links don't end up working!) I'm also 99% sure that the difference is due to the 3rd party UI using a different, presumably updated, version of the standard serif font that features improved kerning Is there a good place to request a page break option for player-made notebooks? Since the in-game, dev-made books have hard page breaks in some way, it would be very cool if we could have access to that functionality!
Thanks everyone for the info. We don't support 3rd party UI, and the issue appears to be the 3rd party UI inserting additional formatting.
