I'm a troubie. I've never been a dirge, so I can't speak for them; but I have a lot of fun. Not sure what else I can tell you... dirges can rez, but so can I with the right items. If you want to 'focus on archery' you may want to consider playing a ranger.

sorry I wont be much help, I love all three dirge. troub and ranger. they each can be soloed and grouped easily.

You can do archery as a bard, but it isn't a main focus. As for picking one, it really depends. I find that troubadours work better to solo and are often more desired in a group. However, dirges buff melee individuals. It depends a lot on the group. Like they said above, if the archery thing is important to you, you may want to pick a ranger instead.

Let's talk about the troubadour. You get buffs for mages, including yourself. This is slightly better for solo play in my opinion. It also works well in spellcaster groups. There are also more heals, so often this works better in groups as well.

The dirge may seem like a waste then, but many guilds lack one and they are a great specialist. If you are aiming to join a big guild eventually, I would seriously consider the dirge.

Rangers have a focus on archery and damage. They are also decent for solo play, but also work well in small groups.

:) this was one only OP message on this forum on June 25, 2019. now October 2020.. but yeah, ranger isn't bad solo, anyway it's interesting and in heroics it's really hard to break through like Legolas. just don't confuse race
