I believe it has been 5 years atleast since I played, I do not have the lastest two expansion packs, my main is a level 70 necromancer so I have some questions. 1)For someone who used to do a lot of solo play are the new expansions worth it for me? 2)Where should I be leveling what should I be doing seriously I am sitting in kylong plains having no idea what do to or where to go. 3)What did I miss ? how easy is the leveling, what is this dungeon finder and where do people congregate now, I do not remember splitpaw server being mine and a couple of my characters now have an x at the end of the names, I think I was on a rp server before. Lol Really any advice is welcome.
Well, hello and welcome back You missed at least one server merge, so you might have played on Runnyeye before. For a level 70 the Kylong Plains are a good start as they will lead you through the Kunark expansion. You will also need the following expansions later on: "The Shadow Odyssey" (50-80 content), "Sentinal's Fate" (80-90), "Destiny of Velious" (85-92) and "Chains of Eternity" (the latest expansion for 92-95). Fortunately CoE contains all prior expansions except "Age of Destiny" which is a pure feature expansion that contains: mercenaries (npcs that follow you around and tank/heal/dps stuff when they feel like it), reforging (convert useless stats into useful ones), player made dungeons, the Beastlord class (a new pet class that is "slightly" overpowered) and 20 more AA. The mercenaries and reforging are the most useful features of that expansion. The dungeon finder is SOE's version of a group finder, nearly every MMO has one nowadays. You queue for certain pve instances and the dungeon finder will try to assemble a group. It's almost as popular as the good old Arena from DoF... Levelling is rather easy, you just need at least 280 AA to level past level 90.
It sounds like getting the expansions will be a good idea, I am more a casual player these days will have to mess around with all my items so will focus on my Necro and try to remember how to play, My pets do seem a little harder than before, I remembered that I could never use my nightshade in solo combat due to her being kinda squishy but they all seem a little upgraded.
If you purchase the latest expansion, Chains of Eternity, it will have you caught up to date with expansions and allow you to adventure and craft to level 95. There is an additional "expansion / add-on" called Age of Destiny, which Luhai mentioned above. Not necessary to have but it has its perks.
Yeah, times have changed. I remember mobs ripping my mage/scout pet apart during the RoK expansion. You should forget about the scout pet, though. It's been broken for more than 2 years now and doing like half the DPS it should. Noone uses it anymore. If you really want to kill stuff use the mage pet. If the stuff kills your mage pet first, use the tank pet. Apart from that Summoners are very decent classes for soloing and DPS.
I agree, mage pet > scout pet. At max level, my mage pet can solo a 95 heroic mob in half the time it takes my scout pet. This is true for both single target and group encounters. Since the mage pet has lifetaps it'll have a easier time staying alive than the scout.
