Even though I'm currently F2P am I able to get a mount?

Yes, and you will get a mount for free as part of the Halas quest line for new characters.

Quest lines in all the starting areas will result in a mount, be it New Halas, Greater Fay, Gorowyn or Dark light woods.
You can also purchase a mount from a stable hand with in-game coin, coin and status or from the marketplace.

Then I'm curious why I didn't get a mount when I was in New Halas......I did all the quest I could find and I wasn't offered one......I'm now in Butcherblock Mountains....should I go back to New Halas and see if I missed something?

As Kuulei mentioned, starter zones reward a mount usually last or very close to last part of the quest lines.

Hmmmmm....soooo maybe I should head back to New Halas? Or just continue with Butcherblock?

I'm just not sure how I missed this quest. I don't even remember him offering it to me. Oh, well....back to New Halas I go.....

The problem is I'd like to a mount now! So, I guess I am going back to New Halas when I'm back in the game. Right now my shoulder is in quite a bit of pain so I need to rest it. It sucks when that happens!

Do the crafting at Frostfang Sea/New Hallas, then go over to Butcherblock for the Far Trader crafting there. That leads to a gathering mount. Speed in movement, plus adds to gathering, mining, etc.

Butcherlock, character should be around 20th level, maybe 22nd, to stay alive.

You can get an adventure version and a tradeskill version of that mount in Butcherblock! Then you can go to Darklight Woods and do that new player line and get that mount. You can do the Gorowyn line. The list goes on and on!!
