Just curious are there any LGBT or LGBT friendly guilds out there? If so what server and how could I & my boyfriend join one of them? I know when I used to play years ago I was in a rather large one but since I haven't played in a while & with the whole server mergers I've lost the guild. Thanks for your help.
Do people really care about another person's sexuality? It's a video game and I think it unlikely the subject will ever come up tbh! And if it did well /shrug - it's 2017 not 1917
You'd be suprised. There are still a lot of players and guilds that joke around about "oh that's so gay" and other crap like that or use gay/the "f" word quite often. LGBT-friendly guilds don't put up with that kind of crap.
I had a well written and thought invoking reply, but not going to feed the trolls on this case. I hear those 'hurtful' words in the LGBT scene all the time and mostly from those IN the scene. If you're so easily offended, perhaps you should disconnect from the really real world.
As someone in the LGBT community, I hear it more from outside the community. All I wanted from this thread was to know if there were any of those types of guilds here on any of the servers so my boyfriend and I could possibly join one of them.
Oh i get it Gaymer Dont join our guild voice chat (especially during drunken friday) while we dont hate the LGBTQ community we also let people know that they will likely get offended at some point no matter their sexual orientation/gender identity. Although our guild leader did get suspended once for being racist towards eskimos... it was a joke but since it was in General chat it didn't go over well with someone Only people who cant take a joke and aren't easily offended need apply.

I'm not sure what LGBT friendly would entail other than to say if you are in a guild that doesn't accept you or you are deeply offended by certain kinds of adult humor/comments then find another guild or start your own. Not being snarky here...but I think asking a person their sexual preference/orientation is not the norm in recruitment questions and I seriously doubt guilds will turn a person down for being LGBT unless you make it an issue.
Why is it only LGBT's that make this an issue? I've been in quite a few guilds over the years and have never been asked my sexual orientation. Many of the guilds have had some pretty racey conversations in chat. If I don't like the subject, I don't join in and usually shut chat or go to a different channel until the offending chat is over - but hey, that's just me and I'm and adult with thick skin and know how to do that without getting offended at things people say. If it gets really out of hand, yeah I'll leave the guild and move on. I know there are a few what you call "LGBT friendly" guilds in game - I was in one a few years back (I am not LGBT) but don't know if they're still around or even remember the name so guess I'm not much help after all LOL.
friendly as in catering specifically to you or... what? I've raided with so many different people and found sexuality never became an issue. even after raiding a couple years with one raid leader I flat out asked because the way the conversation went, we laughed and went back to raiding. no one really cares what you do in real life. just don't be a turd sandwich in game
Maybe look for a guild that has a requirement for respectful main chat? Our guild does that as their are a lot of tiny ears that listen in. Individual group chats are different, but our raid and lobby in our vent server are meant to be child friendly. Not only in chat though, many guilds try to keep things respectful and prohibit bullying.
I guess what I'm looking for is a guild that is an adult guild (its ok to cuss occasionally and such), friendly, and where I don't have to hide that I have a boyfriend (not saying I'll make it an issue to be gay but I don't want to have to continually refer to him as a friend or anything else). The reason I was specifically looking for a LGBT or LGBT-friendly guild is because those types of guilds I know I wouldn't have to hide the fact of who I am and I know it wouldn't ever be an issue.
I think the best wording you can use is a non-bigoted guild. But the only way to find that out is to be as flamboyant as possible and see if you get made fun of or if people just talk to you. Or, you can just be yourself and if people can't accept that, oh well.
I invite you to join us in OER [Order of Eccentric Rebellion] while we are a small guild and still in the process of building everyone ...all 5 of us are a pretty mellow group. As far as I know we consist of 5 active players with multiple toons and just recently we have begun dungeoning and tradeskilling together. Plus, it will give you the chance to bring all of that fabulousness to our guild and help shape it ^^...we try to be unique...as the name might suggest..we even are working on a Hookah Lounge and having a potential troll or ogre pole dancer down there...sexy right? -wink wink-

I hope that you find a good guild to join. I do know that Tears of the Phoenix which was on AB and then when Stormhold came out a bunch of them created guild there but not sure how active either server is...I have two toons in the Stormhold one but never get time to play there since my main toons are on AB. There are a few RP guilds that are LBGTQ friendly. There is a couple other guilds on AB that were LBGTQ friendly but not sure how active they are...my bestie hasn't been playing lately so I haven't kept up. If you do find one on AB I have a RP house you might like to visit. It is a male bar/dance club/casino called Secret Knock in Freeport...Jade Tiger house (first door on left number 1) owner is Building. I am currently decorating a female version of the house which will be in the same spot just owned by Tahki which will be called Lovely Lady Lumps Lounge (to not only support women in LBGTQ community but support people of all shapes and sizes...we are f****ing perfect!!!). My main is called Ocarinah on AB. Please do not disconnect from the game like others have suggested. It is totally against the rules to bash the LBGTQ community and make horrible comments such as that is so gay. Still taking people so long to put away the hateful things (which makes me very sad) and just accept people for who they are. I have many friends over the years in the LBGTQ community and it has come up many times in most of the guilds I have been involved with. So please do not give up, there are many out there that are very friendly.
Looking for, or wanting to be in, an inclusive LGBT and/or LGBT friendly guild isn't about needing to grow a thick skin or deal with the trolls. It's about not having to deal with those issues. Being able to talk openly about your partner/spouse. About your life and life experiences without the baggage of other's piping in with total homophobia. I've been playing this and other MMOs since before the original EQ ever came out. It's a quality of life/game play issue.
