Level 95 PVP Gear nerfed already?

So was the level 95 PVP gear already nerfed? I saw no complaints on the last forums about the upcoming gear that was on Beta at all. Matter of fact it seemed that people ranged from totally ok to underwhelmed with the top tier stuff. If Sony is supposed to be listening to us about the expansion and all, why did the gear get nerfed to the point of useless?

Wow... those are some teeny tiny upgrades. They are actually decreasing in reuse stats for mages. How is this compared to new raid gear? I can't imagine SoE getting away with small upgrades like this in an expansion. Will raid gear completely trump this new PvP gear?

Does it matter when stats get completely ***** by pvp mechanics? About the only stat I can recall that doesn't get scaled down with a harsh curve is stamina(/health reforges).

The old gear was on par pve wise with Plane of War gear, with a few pieces being better, which was kind of dumb considering PoW is still supposed to be some of the best pve gear available. I haven't seen the changed pvp gear.

Got a picture of the new gear and its stats? (appearance/stats for chestplate.)

    before and after nerf?

I haven't seen the stats on the new gear, I just hope that toughness and lethality have more of an impact in pvp if the overall stats are being reduced.

That stuff is a joke, I was on test saw some of the newer stuff as far pve goes and the pvp gear doesn't even try to compare, even with blue stats fixed, there is still wayyyyy more health, power, and main stats on the pve gear

Notice the slight increase in how lethal the gear is, and toughness same way, so anyone with common sense is not going to probably get the gear when you can go do a heroic zone with the same stats, and no it wasn't on par with p.o.w, don't know where you got that from. P.o.w gear has procs and set bonuses and ******** high end stats even as of now, you can't put on the pvp gear in pve and expect to compete very well, but you can put on the pve gear in pvp an compete, that's kind of a backwards concept. Looking raid verse pvp atm, it takes just as much time to get it. So it shouldn't be thrown off as if it doesn't matter.

I haven't seen any of the new pve gear so kind of reluctant to comment, but really hard to imagine it's not going to take a huge dump over the +187 of the current best pvp stuff. BGs at least will be killed off again pretty fast indeed if the disparity between pve and pvp gear is as great as I suspect.

Whats the appearance of the new gear?

The gap between the highest PVE gear and the highest PVP gear at 95 is actually smaller than it was at 92. Meaning it should be better in PVP combat versus PVE geared players than what you saw with the level 92 gear.

When you take the damage reduction from toughness and damage/heal bonus from lethality into account, it should absolutely be the best gear for PVP you can get.

If this is not the case in practice, let us know and we can take another look.

Due to the new forums I am not able to confirm if this is a Dev comment - I assume it is. Thank you showing interest in PVP... The game has been really balanced since the last PVP GU, and I encourage you to keep the same line, and not implement any major changes before bringing in the PVP community.

Since the last PVP GU, you have managed to bring together PVE and PVP players, which has led to high activity in Battlegrounds. This is obviously because of the shared stats. Players from both sides can participate in actions in different parts of the game, without having 2 sets of gear. This is great, and eventually it will be the first step for many in transferring their toons to Nagafen. This is a fact.

To back up my facts, please take a look at this new video.

Since when have you seen this type of activity in open world PVP?

I was in this fight, I'm glad you were able to record it. Good times. I would love to see more players transfer to Nagafen. It would be a perfect time to do so with the expansion about to be released.

I never really thought that this wasn't going to be the case - my only real concern at the moment is that if the heroic instance gear is better for pve than the pvp set (and I haven't seen it so I can't comment) what point is there for the average player to want to try battlegrounds out?
  13. Fleshdecay Well-Known Member

You cant leave to big of a gap between pvp/pve gear stats because then you will need 2 sets again and or no one will use pvp gear. Pvp gear with stats close to PoW gear isn't the issue. It's that all you need to do is one day or less of questing to have gear on par with the new T3 pvp gear and then single group instances for even better gear which is most likely a way faster route to take rather than pvp or bg.

I am hoping the gear is made compatible with the low end Easy Mode raid gear again- if so BGs will be an active area of EQ2. If not, who the heck will be spending much time to get tokens that are worthless.

When I popped into Champion's Respite in Beta a couple of weeks ago the top tier gear had +196 to stats, and looked pretty decent overall. One of the last posts in the old forums showed it as +187 to stats. I don't know what else was cut back in the change, but it was definitely nerfed. I don't have a screen capture though. If anyone has one, or especially if someone has before and after shots- please post.

I don't know why so many of you are worrying. I just logged onto beta today to re-evaluate the PVP gear, especially lvl 95 gear.

Calm down, no one has anything to worry about. The lvl 95 pvp gear is basically PoW equvilent (minus set bonuses or procs) and they also have a very nice conversion merchant that will allow you to trade in your lvl 92 Tier 3 gear into lvl 95 Tier 3 gear for less tokens then it would take to get the 93, 94, then lvl 95 gear...

End point is this, BG(s) is still going to be very relevent, peeps will still play, the gear is still competitive and mostly likely it will remain as the standard of entry level raid gear for PVE i.e Tier 1. (just like the current T3 lvl 92 PVP gear is in game presently)

So it was nerfed but is still good for level 92. Awesome. Too bad we will be 95.

Well I have been saving my tokens for quite some time and have been debating on leveling up so that I could have really great gear for pve and pvp...then I heard all of the rumblings in game about this huge downgrade.

I will definitely be holding off leveling until I see parses. As is, pvp gear at my level is worse than pve gear. When I compare my spell dmg with the full set of pvp gear on now I lose about 7-10%damage on every spell and 4K health inside the BG. As is, toughness does not even compensate for the loss in mitigation and health, and lethality seems to work about the same as potency, neither of which are larger than you can get from PvE items.

I assume if this is the case in lower tiers, it will remain unchanged at 95 with CoE. And despite the temporary buzz that the 95 set was actually good, that seems to have been temporary and a false hope that things got better at end game for non-raiders to be competitive in BGs.

Stop being over-dramatic, the gear I inspected is the same as it was the first day I logged onto beta, (which was only 2 days after its opening up for players to log onto and test) So where all this gear got nerfed speculation came from I have no idea.

This gear is by no means worthless. Of course it won't be PVE T3 equvilent, that's just foolish to assume they would do that. But to be-moan the fact that it won't be revelant just simply isn't true. It will be T1 as it should be (And it will be T1 for lvl 95), which isn't bad at all, especially considering that players in essence will never have to enter a CoE heroic or raid zone to get decent gear for this new expac.

BGs is going to continue to be as is, I would be hard pressed to see any decline tbh.

Side note - all the jewelry has there respective green slots as well.

I don't understand how you have no idea that the new t3 armor got nerfed if you were logged into beta that early. It used to be 195 of your basic stats and is now 186 which is the equivalent of the solo able quest gear you will receive while lvling to 95.

Where is this conversion merchant because I didn't notice anything like that in there. My char on beta isn't 95 though.
