Lag in solo zones - dead mobs come dragging to me. Lag in group zones - VC and trying to stay with a moving group. My hardware is certainly up to the task. Ryzen 1700, win 10. speedof.me shows 11ms and 159+MB/s down 2+MB/s up. Yes I'm East Coast.
Have you installed the Old old old DirectX runtime that EQ2 <cough> supports? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 Try that one. Windows 10 (and 8, and 7, and Vista even) use a stripped down sort of compatible version, but that redist includes things to make eq2 run better. Slightly better. With slightly fewer crashes. It's still going to lag like a dead sloth in a PQ though, or anywhere there are more than a couple toons together, because, well, EQ2 Development Talent.
If its the type of lag from low FPS, try switching from windowed-mode to full-mode and then back again...or vice versa. It always doubles or triples my FPS when I do this (which is every time I log in now). hope it helps
Sometimes going clear into first person view and looking at your feet improves FPS. I also change toon names to display only when targeted/moused over in raids and PQs. Might also check your ISP speed.
