    I am getting the directxrenderdevice.cpp E_OUTOFMEMORY error

    OS: Windows XP
    Service pack: 3
Video card make and model:Ati Radeon x800 XT
    Video card driver version:9.3
    Error: directxrenderdevice.cpp E_OUTOFMEMORY error
Did the fix below work? Nope

I have tried EVERYTHING. I've had a ticket open for over a month with tech support and they haven't helped at all. Is this an issue related to the game or something? Seems like way too many people are having issues for it to be anything else.

    OS:Vista 64
    Service pack: 1
Video card make and model: Nvidia 9800GT
    Video card driver version: 186.18
    Error: E:\live\eq2\framework\core\devices\src\DirectX9RenderDevices.cpp
Did the fix below work? No

No idea what is goin on, game worked this morning and now I can't get anything. I've searched every forum I can find for this, they all say update the drivers/directX and I've done that 3 times now. Any hints?
  3. ARCHIVED-KhrystalForge Guest

Could log in and play fine this morning. Now after the update im getting a similar error
E:\live\eq2\framework\core\devices\src\DirectXRenderDevice.cpp (14110): sRestoreGammaRamp(): Gamma ramps are not saved

    /sigh
  4. ARCHIVED-Oszz Guest

I am somewhat relieved to find that I am not the only one having this issue, I was starting to get mad... none of my other games have a problem with this
    OS: Windows XP Home

    Service pack: SP 3

Video card make and model: GE Force 8600 GT

    Video card driver version: 6.14.11.5827

    Error:

Everquest II has an unrecoverable Error and must shut down
    E:\live\eq2\framework\core\devices\src\directx9renderdevice.cpp(2622)irectX Error.

Did the fix below work? No it did not fix the problem and I did everything just like was explained in the first post of this thread. As was already mentioned in this thread, I can corroborate that neriak is a BAD zone for this sort of thing. I can only imagine the nightmare the raid zones must be if I were still a raider.

Needless to say, It would appear that this is a relatively old problem now but I had actually left the game for a while and am just coming back and, so am just now seeing the issue on my computer

Ok i have to say i have a Fresh Hard drive and all the latest drivers and DX please see my post in the App ran out of memory as i think these 2 issues are related as they both started happening at the same time and after the big update and it seems to be happening more often i would Bug it but most of the time i have to shutdown the PC and reboot cause it locks up but both errors are (1) DX rendering and (2) App ran out of memory ..

    Hiyas,
Well after spending a little while looking into this I may have found a solution.
Follow the screenshot below and navigate to the EQ2 folder, in the screenshot below you will see the one I have highlighted, Run EQ2settings:
Now when you have Eq2settings click the settings tab along the top & set the screen resolution to any of the ones in the drop down menu. When I first went into here the field was blank, I am assuming that EQ2 does not understand what the blank field was so interrupted the load sequence with a DirectX Render engine failure (ie did not have a resolution to use)
Hopefully this will help other people because mine is now fixed 100%.
Oh and this was from a clean install of EQ2 with new Nvidia drivers and Directx9c newly installed.
  7. ARCHIVED-Yentam Guest

Sorry Ennbenna thats not the issue as you can set your settings in the updater or usin the Alt-O in game even it was a nice try but its not the issue there are 4 ways that i know of to set your settings went in and looked at the EQ2 settings via the folder its the same as doing it from the updater, char select,in game or the EQ2 folder settings but again nice try... im gonna get on the phone with a NVidia Lvl 2 Techie that i know and give him the info and see if he cant figure out whats going on keep your fingers crossed who knows it may even go to Lvl 1 Tech support at least for the NVidia Cards ill see what i can muster

I think i have this Mammered out but ive sent a PM to one of the techs to Verify it so please be paitent if its what i think it is it can be fixed but im Mum until they look into it further i will be traveling zones to futher test this possible solution and my 1st stop will be NERIAK where this seems to be the worst spot wish me luck )

    Yentam (Mistmoore Server)
Ok as of lastnight i ran Neriak that seem to be havin the hard time and i can say that i ran at 3 different settings and had no Issues but there still seems to be the crash at the Char select screen and this seems to be a Microsoft issue as its sending the error reports to them but again im awaiting on what the Techies have to say about the possible fix as it seems to make things alot smoother within the Neriak zones that have been having issues as i spent about 3 hrs in running all over with my Evil Alt at 3 different settings so again we have to await the techies opinions also gonna fly thru Various Guild halls as they seem to have givin me issues so they will be my next stop :)

ok it isnt our game thats causing the Rendering issue its on the SOE server side they either have a Corrupted file or the file does not exsist Everyones game are calling out for the as in my case D:\live\eq2\framework\core\devices\src\dirextx9renderdevice.cpp this file either dont exsist or ie: my game is calling to your server for a file that dont exsist.... so just rebuild that file or Take out the Calling so the game dont look for that file either way the file is there and is corrupted or its not there check it out :))

Cant even get to character select, nothing. VERY Frusterating since I'm returning to the game and just spent a good 9 hours downloading all the new stuff. Please tell me there's an easy fix to this.

just a thought I recently added a 2nd EQ2 game, in th loading directions after sony, i imput Sony2 and continued with the download of the new game, I FIXED MY D3D error thats plaqued me for almost 3 years, I can now load my orginal game with getting the D3D error. andno longer have to load the game via the C drive shortcut. I DO NOT know if this will fix your problem, but I do think its worth looking into Abbis

am i really going to have to resort to WoW... *Opens WoW Installer* *sigh* no EQ2 Fix...
  20. ARCHIVED-Caladin Guest

Ok, Was wondering if something went wrong on the download/install in the original try. I totally uninstalled everquest II and then this time instead of using the original box and downloading ALL the expansions I used my KoS box that I used with that original box. Once I got the program installed I did the download and made sure I did not put any UI's or anything in this time.
    Did this fix it. No
I have the newest video drivers
I have done tons of memory test
I have run diagnostics on my pc overnight without any failures
I have followed the instructions to the letter with the exception I had to download a different scrubber as the free one was no longer fee but the link had another one linked so I used that one.
I downloaded and reinstalled directx (unfortunately you can not uninstalled directx) So hopefully microsoft windows is not lieing to me when it says it installs it.
I have loaded approx 20 other games and all are working ok. Some use Directx and have no problems.
    PLEASE HELP!
