Isle of Refuge (Free Trade) Server Coming June 28

I will transfer all of my accounts and characters to a free trade server that is reserved for invested player members. A classic core game server that blocks the known exploits such as: instant high level characters, player versus player specific content, end game specific content, economy inflation tokens, dead guilds and trading cards games with in the game. A centralized focus on guild mechanics that promote a sense of belonging to a group and making a contributing difference. Possibly returning to the days when crafters used subcomponents items to assemble unique items which were crafted by master artisans with pride and dedication to their craft. Just thinking out loud...

Is this a progression server Or can we just abandon sleep and grind to max level because the entire game is available to start?

Will bags of plat be available with tokens ?

Will krono be tradeable on this server ?

I for one just want to say I appreciate the attempts at creating new servers with alternative rule-sets. I think this is a great idea. The truth is, if the server fails or fails to launch with enough player base then we will probably see that particular rule-set go away and watch them try another. Eventually we will see things we like. I would like a PvP ironman server with no factions. I doubt that happens but it would be fun.

This reminds me of when they launched a server named Freeport, of course eventually it became the normal playstyle for all the servers and was merged into what is now Skyfire. I predict the same thing is happening here lol testing the waters of how free trade does and if it goes well, it will spread across the servers is my guess.

That's an interesting thought, but they're putting this idea behind a gold sub paywall to entice people into paying for it, so I don't think they will give it to the free players later. New end-game content is similarly locked behind a gold sub, and I don't see them handing that out for free, either. Devs have gotta eat, you know! Silver and Bronze free players have practically a lifetime's-worth of free content. If they're playing that much that they're tired of everything else and want the gold sub content, too, then they really should be helping pay to keep the lights on in order to get it.

Kronos being unavailable on a pay 2 play server would be incredibly silly. They will be there. There's no reason for them not to be. So people who are rich on live can list some on the broker? So? It's not economy breaking in any way. It doesn't put plat into the server.

Coming from someone who's not played this game in a very long time, I'm excited at the chance to get back into playing this game. I bought the game at launch and played for a couple of years. I've always had a desire to return, but I could never bring myself back to the game, due to the fear of being drastically behind everyone who plays. I didn't like the idea of playing an instant "high level" character because I didn't want to miss out on the adventure, so I never returned. This new server gives people like myself a chance to get a fresh start at a game they love. I think this type of server will draw a lot of people like myself and others who've never played the game. I like the idea.

same here..but the whole jumping and flying mounts and those OP mercenaries (from my memory) still put me off. I havent played on live in many years but watched some footage and just dont know whether I can.. TLE was the best for me in that sense

I'm still salty about these two new worthless servers coming out.

Neither look fun to play, and both are bad ideas for populations across all servers. The design of the Event server shows lack of thought & planning as well.

Actually, TLE didn't do that. TLE brought a LOT of old players back because we don't like current iteration of game and its mechanics.

We'd either be playing TLE or not at all.

I'm not aiming this at you in particular (clearly, because you play the TL), but I do wonder how many people who are complaining that the populations will decrease on the live servers as a result of these new servers are free players. I'll bet it's quite a high percentage overall.

Daybreak wouldn't be putting up these gold sub paywalls in front of their new ideas if they didn't have to: If the game closes down from lack of funds, imagine all the complaining that will go on then.

I hope these ideas take off and increase Daybreak's income. Columbus Nova certainly aren't Sony, Japan: They're a short-term investment company. They're not going to accept tiny profits or running in the red for long.

There's a fair amount of people who would rather see the game Sunset, than continue to bleed itself to a staggered death.

And lately there's a whole lot more bleeding than there is patching.

Keep in mind that the originators of "Free to Play" and "Play Your Way" are history.

Even Shmed recanted his "Free to Play" cantos...once he started designing his own game, lol.

Curious what times these usually start off. Played this 11 or 12 years ago, think it was 2004 and off and on since. This intrigue's me.

Will it start up tonight at midnight? Does the system go down and then back up with the option there to create a character for this new server?

They do not care what players want, only what THEY think will make them money. The "polls" are simply smoke and mirors to try to deceive us into thinking there was ever a choice. Think of any future poll like an election - your vote doesnt matter.

umm make a new thread with rants - we are actually looking for answers here about the new server - it is opening - you like it not not take it somewhere else please and thank you. take your own advice your vote doesn't matter

A surprise apparently!

I started as F2P years ago and spent a ton of cash on market items while F2P(many years worth of sub). I then bumped up to a sub for many years, and spent a crap-ton of money in the marketplace(decades worth of sub fees0. Then the "investment" company bought the game. I continued to sub and spend plethora in marketplace. NOW I am back to F2P and spend $0 because the game is poorly run and offers nothing new of value. I only stay at all to finish decorating the multitude of homes I bought on the marketplace, and I rarely log in at all because the community has been reduced almost exclusively to trolls.

So yes, I am F2P now, but I have more than payed my share and have every right to complain about the slow and painful death of a once great game and community.
