It seemed helpful during Beta, but a lot of the time, the pop ups are too much. I've just uninstalled Discord from my PC.

Discord has pop ups? Do you mean desktop notifications? if so that is easily disabled under user settings>notifications Uncheck Desktop Notifications and poof, they are gone forever.
  3. Kittybock Well-Known Member

Thanks, Terrius, I know how to turn off notifications, but tried to leave them up, in case I saw players asking real questions. Of late, that was not the case.

I find discord with my friends to be pretty good when I or they crash, we can tell each other, "hey, you're out. no need to keep staring at that loading screen going no where." It's also good for when chat fails in norrath world.

vent, team speak, Skype and so on where does it stop
I hate it when guilds require you to use such outside chat servers
I install one and there is another one popping out of the woodworks.
I play more than one game and they all want different chat services
    more is not better.

I've used all the ones you mentioned above plus another one called Raid something. The only one I actually like and use routinely is Discord. However, I use typed chat instead of voice chat with it. I don't like talking ... or listening.
  7. Schmetterling Well-Known Member

Raid call installed that one too at one time

o well I guess I should give this one a try too maybe keep Skyp because it lets me talk with my family in
Europe with the likeness of me so they can see me in the morning without makeup and bad hair :eek:yikes.

I look in to the forum all the time and I am disheartened at the fact that we get important information often late
being told but we posted it over here o_O.
This forum is created for the game and only for the game , are people getting payed to use the other media?

No, I just think different people have a comfort with different types of communication. With discord they can pop in, ask us a quick question or answer a quick question or two and then go back to work.

Did something change this week? I'm only seeing a blank white screen where Discord used to load.
  10. Rosyposy Well-Known Member

I'm not having any issues with Discord... just looked at it, in fact. I use it in my browser rather than the PC app, because I couldn't find any way to increase the font size in the app, and couldn't read it.

so not calling names, but saying a weather phenom isn't real... getting called a troll and insulted... but i get booted? yeah your discord is real great... and no i didn't even start the convo...

While there are plenty of misconceptions and the typical "press misrepresenting stuff they don't understand", the polar vortex is a well-documented atmospheric phenomenon which is studied by meterologists and climate researches at the highest levels of education. However you were not kicked for that. You were kicked for negativity and hostility towards others.

i was not name calling, i was joking around... they were name calling etc.. did you kick them as well? seriously no warning just a boot? and you want us to come there>?
  14. Cheallaigh Well-Known Member

for the record... "polar vortex" .. yeah we DO call that just an average winter in canada... the nickname "great white north" is for a reason. getting a mild winter or a chinook anywhere but the lower mainland or vancouver island is a treat... sub-freezing and lots of snow is normal in the majority of the country.

I was contacted by gninja for using my nick "Thai F-WORD Tanic" - Which I use in over 25 other gaming related discord channels without ANY issues. Was asked to changed it IMMEDIATELY. Called him a n4zi cop and never sat foot there again.

Its okay having rules, but being nice about it would be nice.

Been trying to join this today for the XP changes (WTF?) and all the invites I can find are dead

What you need is a full-time communications specialist. They would make updates and read forums. They could make a clear concise picture of what the community is saying. This would free the devs up. Its a waste of money and time to always have the devs talk with the players. Players want to heard, but you don't have time to listen.
