I'm a $15/mo subscriber and bought the latest expansion. Why do I have to pay extra for reforging?

And you are correct, it was labeled a feature pak under SOE, not DBG. And quite honestly, between 2011 and the transfer of SOE to DBG in 2015, SOE could have financially afforded to make the features in that pak readily available in any of the expansions that were released subsequently and chose not to.

It may have been a pack full of features, but it was never billed as a "Feature Pack" when it was on sale. Below is the description of AoD when it was for sale:

Now I bought the CE edition at the time and have no regrets but I find it a bit disingenuous for SOE/DB to claim later that this was never an expansion when that was how it was described to us that bought it at the time and the fact that it was the only Expansion launched that year (December 6, 2011)

What it was, was a failed experiment. When it was released you should have heard the complaints about it from the playerbase. How it was not a real expansion because it had no actual content. The begging for it to be split up and offered a la carte because people didn't want to pay a full expansion price for features when they didn't even want some of the features.

The powers that be listened to the players. That "expansion" model of releasing only features was scrapped and it was all put on the marketplace a la carte just like many players asked for. I would not hold my breath until all the features make their way into future expansions.

SOE/DBG originally called it an expansion, true, but they changed it to feature pack and thus they are not lying when we don't get those features as part of buying the latest expansion. If they never changed their minds, the beastlord class would never existed in the EQ2 universe, amongst other things.

It was SOE that rebranded it a feature pack. That was well prior to DBG being involved.
