Just something I'm curious about, I'm assuming most just use the launching because EQ2 was like that years before it ever came to steam. Also the forums here seem quite active but the steam forums and even the new tab over there is desolate for the most part.
The way I look at it is "why should I use some other software to run this piece of software?" Similarly, I think it helps to do the full download instead of allowing it to stream. Having the files client-side reduces how much time it takes to shove them through the interwebz.
I never use steam. I see no reason to go through two sets of servers, when one is all that is needed.
I used eq2 on steam for awhile because they didn't tax purchases if you went through steam. Saved probably a hundred bucks over a few years. No other reason to do so now though.
