I've been away for a bit (4 months) and reinstalled last week.. Since then I cannot get my video setting correct.. can anyone point me in the direction of which setting I need to change in order for the glass and crystals to render properly?
Since you recently reinstalled, use the presets until you find one you like. The first setting in the options window is Performance Profile. Choosing something here will set all of the options to a certain quality level. Try "balanced" first, and if that is too much or too little change to a different one. You can go back in and tweak specific things later.
Try the Guide to Optimizing Display Performance, Rebooted. Set Light Quality to High or Very High. Set Number of Lights to 3 to 6 (you have to have more than one light to get depth). Specular Lighting is the setting that you need to make armor shiny and glass glass-like. I always have this on! Specular Lights also affect the shiny metal and glass effects. Some people notice a performance hit with this set high, but put it up to at least 2 to 3.
No go. I reinstalled the game again, tinkered with every graphic setting. Same thing... I'm at a loss.
I'm about to get in game and visit the Gooblin King. I'll get a screenshot of what I see in that same spot, and I'll post my exact graphics settings.
@ Crilly - So bizarre. I never had video issues before. I have pretty much checked everything... I wonder if it's my computer config in some way.

Sigrdrifa - where do you find that log of settings? My req's match yours almost 100% with the exception of a couple settings I couldnt find. I also wante to cruise other zones, as this does not seem to show up anywhere except OF and related content.
In your EQ2 installation folder (typically C:\Users\Public\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest II) look for files ending in .OPT You can actually save my list in Notepad as a TXT file, then change the file extension to OPT. When you go in-game to Options you should be able to load that profile. You can also SAVE your existing options, which I'd recommend you do before making changes. Note that I only posted my display settings. I have assorted oter settings tweaked that won't matter to what you're looking for.
So I copied your settings and overwrote mine using the .opt file. No go. I noticed that other things are not rendering correctly, water in the tuptan ponds is missing, window glass in my T2 GH arent rendering.. /sigh. It's not a deal breaker, but it certainly takes away from the game for me.
Hi. I cant find where to put these settings so that they stay. I put in eq2_default.ini and in eq2_recent.ini and they arnt there when I enter game then leave. I am trying to max out the detail distance and rendering distance and complex shader distance. When I set them to Very high or high, depending on what the max is for selection, things are not rendering as far as they did before the settings went from slider to drop downs to select. Thanks for the help.
