    my PC is fine, this problem is happening on 2 different computers. I have an RCA router from the cable company, and my Apple 1TB Base Station, 1 computer is WiFi, this one is Hard wired. Cable provider is Comcast... sigh
    Symptoms: If i go into a "crowded" area with lots of NPC, or PVP, i go LD, but i do not crash to charachter select right away, i will stay in game for up to 10 minutes before going back to toon select window. When I go LD and try to /camp i cannot, i cannot use spells or anything, im just in a limbo or stuck at the end of a flight path of a flying mount. Sometimes when try to exit EQ2 with out camping, third camp option, it takes me to charachter select, OR the game crashes to desk top.

    Greetings,
    It sounds like the internet connection is getting overloaded, probably at the router. If possible, try plugging one of those computers directly into the modem instead of going throught he router. Then try to reproduce the error when bypassing. Performing a full power cycle/reset on both the modem and router would be helpful as well. Finally, it may be necessary to update the firmware on the router/modem to the latest version.

    Seems to work when plugged directly to the Modem, but now, what can i do to make my Apple Router work with the game? what changed that now i cannot use my router?
  6. ARCHIVED-Hymico Guest

    If taking the router out of the equation solved the issue, the router is the problem.
    Try updating to the latest firmware for the router at the manufacturer's website. If the problem persists, providing its a multi-port router, try different ports to make sure the two you are using are not bad. If neither option works, buy a new router! I'm using a Netgear 4-port and no issues at all playing EQ2.

    Greetings,

    Besides firmware updates, it may be necessary to forward some ports through the router.

    The following site has great information about router configuration:
    http://www.portforward.com/english/...routerindex.htm

    Simply select the router you are using, then select the 'skip this advertisement' button in the upper right, and finally select Everquest 2 on the following page. You will then be presented with a walkthrough on how to forward the correct ports.
    Finally, it's possible that the router has other security features that could be blocking the game. If you see any entries in the router for SPI, you'll probably want to disable it.

    Its not me, its YOU, help me fix my game, like i said, nothing on my end changed, I am using the same Router I have been using for the last Year, and Apple Routers are very reliable and my firmware is all updated. The within the last 2 updates this has started happening
    Either help me or loose a 5 year costomer to WoW.
    PS... that link to routerindex is useless for me, they do not have support for Apple Routers.

    Greetings,
    If you are not able to use the portforward.com website, then you may need to set it for port forwarding without that resource. That said, if you contact the support line for the router with the following port information, then they should be able to walk you through the process:
    EverQuest II LaunchPad and Patch Servers
    A TCP connection is initiated from the LaunchPad client port > 1023 to patch.station.sony.com port 7000. A UDP connection is initiated from the LaunchPad client port > 1023 to sdlaunchpad1.station.sony.com and sdlaunchpad2.station.sony.com port range 3016-3021 and 9700-9703.

    EverQuest II Patch:
    A TCP connection is initiated from the EverQuest II client port > 1023 to patch.everquest2.com, abepatch.everquest2.com, laepatch.everquest2.com, or amspatch.everquest2.com at port 7010. Some of the above patchers resolve to multiple IP addresses, so if you have a strict outbound firewalling policy, be sure to check for all IP addresses using a DNS lookup tool.

    EverQuest II Game Client:
    UDP connections are initiated from the EverQuest II client port >1023 to servers on UDP ports 9100, and UDP ports in the range 32800-33000. Additionally, ICMP messages type 0 (echo reply), 3 (unreachable), 8 (echo request) and 11 (expired) should be permitted bi-directionally between the client PC and the EverQuest II servers.

    EverQuest II Servers Subnets:
    There are multiple IP addresses for the Patch and LaunchPad clusters, and they may change as the network demands, so check often using a DNS lookup tool if you provide a specific firewall rule for these services. The EverQuest II server IP addresses are currently in these subnets: 64.37.158.*, 199.108.11.*, 199.108.12.*, 199.108.13.*, 199.108.202.*, 199.108.203.*, 195.33.135.*

    Entered the Ports, still not working,

    I tried connecting directly to the modem again, seems to stay online longer but after doing a few instances, i did go LD, not every 2 mins, but still more then i used to before the last 2 patches.

    However AION works fine, so does Battlefield Europe. Staying focused on "its your router" is not the answer. Please there has to be something else.
    Tech support tested my router and its working fine, so this idea that i should shell out another 500ish bucks for a new Apple Time Machine router to play EQ2 is not gonna happen.

    Are you connecting from a military base, business, or university? This line from your tracert concerns me:
    1 2 ms 10 ms 1 ms MSHOME [10.0.1.1]
    That IP address for your router is usually used in large institutions and uses a network structure that can cause lots of problems with gaming. Where are you trying to connect from?

    I am connection from a home network, Comcast is my provider. The IP 10.0.1.1 is the IP of the Apple Airport Extreme Base Station router, What should it the IP be?

    There are DHCP section that have beginning and ending IP of 10.0.1.2 thru 10.0.1.200
    NAT default host is 10.0.1.* the * being a blank space that i can enter a number

    For the Port Map
    it looks a bit like this:

    public TCP Port 1023
    public UDP Port 9100, 32800-33000
    Private IP address 10.0.1.201
    private TCP Port 1023
    Private UDP Port 9100, 32800-33000

    Most consumer level routers use an IP address like 192.168.1.1. The 10.0.1.1 is common to commercial routers. Those routers usually work off of a network structure that has a lot of problems with online games. To explain it in basic and slightly inaccurate terms, a regular router will connect each computer directly to the router while the commercial version will connect all the devices in a large loop. That means the signal needs to route through the other devices before going to the router and then the internet.
    Earlier in this ticket you mention paying another $500 for a router. Is there any reason you would need to use a router like that? I can't imagine anyone needing a residential router outside of the ~$100 range. I think I spent $40 on mine and haven't had any issues.

    The router has a built in 1 Tera Byte Hard drive that all the computers in the house back up to. We are an Apple Family. There is a link to my router model. http://www.apple.com/timecapsule/

    I just change an internal setting to make it 192.168.1.1 Testing it out now.

    No good, it didnt work.

    Cancelling my account, very unfortunate that we couldnt resolve the issues.

    Aion worked flawlessly as far as my connection is concerned, so did WoW and Battlefeild Europe. So my router is not broken, if you guys are ready to help me ill be checking this post often.

    Maybe i had my port set up wrong, no comments were made on that.

    Did you ever try disabling the in-game voice chat to see if that made your connection more stable? I know that Vivox is still working through a few issues and its possible that the Apple Time Capsule and the Vivox voice service don't play nice together.

    Quite a few of my guildmates always keep Vivox disabled, otherwise they regularily crash. There's a good chance that this would solve your issue indeed.

    I use an Apple Time Capsule as my router and have not had any of the issues the original posted listed. Works like a charm.

    So if it is a router issue, it's something that's specific to their router config/hardware. It's not something intrinsic to the Time Capsule product itself.
