Those of us who live in California at least in the nortjern part may have a problem with power for the next few days and therefore will ne unable to get on. PG&E is shuttimg us down umder the guise of fire safty. Essencially . . rollimg outages. All counties are affected and all cities reguardless of fire hazards or not. So us Californians will not be on until further notice starting at midnight tonight.
OMG...stupid PG&E. They essentially have a monopoly on power generation from central California practically up through Washington state, if memory serves, and they've always struck me as less than competent (these are the same foobs that put up a nuke plant directly on a fault line. We were dang lucky nothing happened back when it was in operation. Still there, though; doesn't have any pile in it any more, thank the gods). When we lived in central Cal., we ALWAYS had to keep a stock of functional (rather than just decorative) candles, glass kerosene lamps (with kerosene ready to go), and several gallons of bottled tap water in storage, 'cause we were out in the country and only had electric...including for our own well water and toilet flushing. X-P Brown- and black-outs were semi-regular occurrences. If they really want to do something useful for the entire rest of the Western seaboard, they could loose their stranglehold on the utility companies up there and let someone who knows what they're doing have a go...or if everyone put solar panels on their roofs and sold them back their own stupid electricity, maybe they'd hire someone with half a brain in their heads by way of apology.
