News to me, note they claim free as well as set 500 years in the past within the EQL time frame http://www.mmoginfo.com/noticias.php?noticia=120
I think what they claim is that it will be Neriak, which WAS the home of the DEs 500 years ago. It would be a nice touch, and certainly not unexpected, but I don't think that's very reliable.
The update will be free to an extent (probably just enough to get you to want to pay for the rest) Seems like an interesting concept. *shrugs*
I hope they eventually allow Dark Elves to be created there, I hate this two starting city crap.. Takes away from the lore, the roleplay and the heritage type feeling each race had in eq1.. SG
Dont think there will be any new starting cities added anytime in the near future. That would involve a ton of re-working to the original game design. More than likely its another group-oriented dungeon crawl once you get past the initial level or so of free content for the AP. Would be fun though, to discover a small city in this dungeon with a variety of NPCs to advance the storyline rather than rely exclusively on book drops
Personally, I kind of like the DE storyline in Freeport. The Thexians are plotting against Lucan and searching for the lost home of the Teir'Dal. but 'Twould be nice if at some point there was a mass departure of Dark Elves from Freeport, though, ala the Troll's being Driven out of Grobb.
I was under the impression that Fallen Gate was Neriak? Unless they also teleport you back in time, to the home of Dark Elves 500 years ago. But then you could kill your own grandfather which would lead to awful problems with coding, no?
I think Fallen Gate is the equivalent to the Foreign Quarter of Neriak in EQL, so there's still a lot left undiscovered. Can't remember where I read this though.
I though Neriak was in Nektulos Forest, on the other side of the Commonlands. Don't see how Fallen Gate could be anything to do with it. Though I suppose with the Cataclysm anything is possible!
yes that is what fallen gate is, there is a long tunnel between the entrances. notice how the gate to fallen gate Door looks diffrent from the inside then the outside.
I read up somewhere that The Fallen Gate was the twisted and corrupted( If not already:robottongue: )remains of what used to be Neriak?
Unfortunately, that summary leaves a lot to be desired. Here's the scoop. Adventure Packs are based around a simple idea: all subscribers are presented with an introduction to the storyline and can download a new zone at no additional cost. For five bucks you can download the rest of the content and explore the full story, receive additional zones, boss fights, access to new items and abilities, etc. The first one is set in Nektulos Forest, not Neriak. Although it does involve something found while searching for an entrance to that ancient city... Fallen Gate only represents a portion of the outer section of Neriak. There was a lot more to that city than what you saw in EverQuest. A lot more.
Moorgard -- "new items and abilities"? The zones, boss fights and items are all expected. Are we getting new combat arts, as well? I'm the sort who would buy all of these, anyway, but now they sound even more interesting.
So how is Class Balance being handled outside of these adventure zones now that advantages/items/abilites can be bought with real world money? Message Edited by Ellyana on 01-12-2005 12:59 AM
WOW... the devs have all this extra time to release an adventure pack. why not instead of wasting time developing this, put your energy into fixing a very simple bug that kills armorers when they craft?? You know something that halts a professions progress. SoE what you are doing is very cool I think with adventure packs, however your timing for announcing this release is very bad. Right now you have shown that you have enough staff and time to make a whole expansion pack, but it also shows that you really dont care about tradeskills and other professions that are seriously broken. I think you should have waited till some of the more serious issues were resolved before you announced this.
New Abilities? I thought these adventure packs were being marketted as an optional extension. However, now as more information is starting to come out, this is sounding like little more than a mini expansion pack that will have that mandatory feel like EQ Live expansions to keep up to date.
Here's a thought, however unoriginal it is to the community: Use the resources SOE has diverted to make token dungeon's with "new items and abilities" and fix the profession bugs, skills, etc., including the bugs with the many quests. Not only does that "enhance the fun factor" of the game, but it also keeps more subscribers in it since they are less likely to be frustrated and quit. Who would want another dungeon to explore when a quarter of their profession skills are bugged in some form or another? Message Edited by bugsquirt on 01-11-2005 10:37 PM
Hehe. Yeah, like Sony Online Entertainment would do anything to appease you. They mearly want your money. Everquest 2 has been (from the beginning) a profit modeled piece of software. They will never give you anything for free... Including an understanding of how their game works... (They want you to spend a few months trying to figure it out, henchforth, paying them)... Good luck, everyone! I've canceled my SoE account upon this "great" news!.. I'll never purchase another Sony product again... Unless it's a television. They do make the best TV's.
Indeed so. All SoE wants is our money. Ask the Everquest one players about this. They get a brand new expan Feb 15, 2005. Here is the link. http://everquest.station.sony.com/dragonsofnorrath/ Anyone here who thinks SOE will not push expan's out like candy in Everquest II must be joking. EQ II is two months old and talks of expan and adventure packs already?!? :smileymad:
