Just rolled a toon on the Fallen Gate server, can anyone recommend a Euro based guild to join there? Basically I will be solo a lot although once I catch up grouping is definitely on the cards.

Skip FG and wait for the new PvP event server or the new progression server opening in March. Thats an honest advice and no matter how many people tells you FG will be just fine, the exact same thing will happen to FG as happen to SH, player numbers will continue to drop until you have 30 players on during prime time hours.
Encore is a very nice guild, rai is optionnal but till now we got a good progression among the best among non harcode non pay too win ones.
