I downloaded it recently from here http://maps.eq2interface.com/index....p?action=about. I had just wanted something that could show me the coords of a point I could pick on a map so I could get to where I needed to, but this is confusing. I wish it would just tell me the steps I need to complete each quest.

Take one of the quests I'm on now. Trantieral Thunderhoof, I have to find the mark, but the map isn't very navigable (sp?) rather than just listing "the market for trantieral thunderhoof" It lists many disorganized things. Seems like I would have to search all the points on the map to find it.

You should voice this on their site, not this one. It isn't a Sony product. :)

If you want quest help steps, then in-game you can use this command:
    /browser http://eq2.wikia.com
That will open an in-game browser window to EQ2i Wiki for you. Put in the name of the quest in the search box and you will get your step-by-step info, usually with good locs.

EQ2MAP isn't designed to guide you through quests. It's a tool so you can find the appropriate points of interest related to the quest(s) you are trying to do. Sites like EQ2i have quest walkthroughs that are more suited to that kind of thing.

One issue is the overload of POIs, many of which are for a single quest that you may have already done and thus no longer care to see the POIs. SOE is working on (or said they would work on) a way for us to limit that type of POI so that they only show up when you want them to (eg if you are on the quest they are for). Once we (eventually) get this, your map will become a LOT less cluttered.
