ALL EverQuest 2 Servers will come down on May 14th, 2014 at 4:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time* for a hotfix. The expected downtime is approximately 40 minutes.

This hotfix is to resolve an exploit in the ToV raid zone.

Can we yell for the 3rd downtime in 3 days? :(

If you don't like fixes and updates, I guess. :)

How about second downtime in less then 12 hours? ;)

*goes to camp the update forum for updated update notes to update there*

My statement still stands. :) Hehe.

I'll yell that we lack update notes for a hotfix thats being done during the day US time,

But then I'll give you praise because EU servers got a 15 min warning message for the first time in forever.

    :D

Anything related to High Keep Contested not being listed as an option to zone into around 1am PST? That was fun :)

    • Lack of duck mounts on marketplace
    • Broken class balance
    • Zones randomly disappearing for an hour

Patches to fix bugs are nice.. 15 min notice in game time and getting kicked from instances 10 min before shut-down time is very frustrating though. Especially when there's no info on why there's a (seeming) emergency patch.

Maybe it is a BG fix.

Sure, I can fill you in. We're fixing an exploit in the ToV raid zone. ;)

Who's 'sploiting what that you had to hotfix? ;p

Edit: Those times when you post when someone else is posting!

I was going to say, it might be something that they (SOE) have not choice on. I've worked in a few large scale server environments and while they really don't want to do any type of updates during normal business hours--sometimes, ya got no choice.

The motto of "never do any harm" (bring a user facing server down) only goes so far when you need to fix an exploit, security risk, or run the risk of data loss. ;)

I would add the broken height slider on the Character Creation and Shave & Haircut menus. Hoping that is one of the problems that is getting looked into as well.

Yesterday - Hotfix to allow people to zone in.
Today - Hotfix to stop people doing stuff in the zone
Tomorrow - Hotfix to fix the loot from people completing zone.

    and sorry, I'm grouchy :(

This made me lol. Stuff that has been broken for years and never getting any attention.

The problem Luperza is that if it was for something that had been working and broke fine, but many times with SOE the multiple bug fixes, exploit fixes, etc is due to not bothering to fully test before applying stuff to live. A little better testing equals a lot less downtime to fix your mistakes. (not meaning you directly of course)
