Coldwind King Crab not dropping loot

Hi. Not a big issue to most, but I'm hunting a specific piece of gear to complete a set for a visual look I very much like for one of my characters. The item only drops off the Coldwind King Crab (link) in Antonica. The problem is, he does not drop a chest after 6+ kills, and he is a 'rare' heroic spawn.

Could someone with the power please take a look and please explain to Mr. Crabby that he needs to relinquish his treasures if I defeat him in battle? Thanks.

Update: Still not dropping loot after the latest patch.

Judging by the short time-spread on that log cap, sounds like they changed those items to drop regularly off of any mob in certain areas now...because originally the armplates of all descriptions were from the CKC only...and the legplates were from the Reanimated Nexus Scion in GFay, which is another issue entirely (he's not spawning).

Would be nice to see more complete sets of these armors hitting the brokers, there are some fairly decent looking visual sets amongst them, like the Elder's & Advancer's set (same look, chain-and-plate steel with a sheen), and the Soldier's set (red plate but not the Berserker's Level 20 quest armor style).

Wow, just got the legs/arms I was looking for, and it was odd. as. hell.

Did 4 or 5 cycles of clearing the beach, with no chest drops at all. Suddenly, every trash mob is dropping a chest with either arms or legs in it...like 9 mob straight, 9 chests straight. I turn to clear the rest of the beach, and I see the CKC wandering down the beach.

I wonder if it was just extraordinary timing coupled with some insane luck, or does his presence affect mob drops in the area? It's a bizzare coincidence that I'm going to research further, because I literally cleared it dozens of times before this day and nothing like this has ever come to pass.

My loots were mostly spurt luck too,
Missing from that log snipped, was me starting at 6:29am my time killing until 9:20ish or so, including 455 sand covered crabs, 7 CKCs, and 31 driftwood defilers.

During that time, 11 of the 12 items listed as CKC's loot table on zam, which I listed, were in the span of 11 minutes out of that nearly 3 hours.

Next time don't be so hasty jumping to the conclusion that the loot doesn't drop.

Perhaps, but according to Zam, which is supposed to be in jive with EQ2 now, CKC should drop at a shoulders at a certain loot probability -- all probabilities adding up to 100%. Thing is, I didn't get any loot from the CKC's yet -- at one point, I had 4 of them roaming the beach since they can spawn in place of the trash crabs or defilers, yet still no drops from them.

And like I said, I had done dozens of runs before with no luck. You'd expect a named to drop loot fairly regularly in this game, if not all the time.

Just a very odd series of events at any rate. And yes, there were 4 server discos for AB in there, so that would suggest to me that not only does nobody kill the poor crabs anymore (does nobody in this game like steamed crab?!?), but they too have been miserly with their loot.

Glad to find a source of legs other than the Reanimated Nexus Scion though...and he STILL refuses to spawn.

Came across him on Freeport but he didn't drop anything there either.

His file is set up to drop shoulders 100% of the time, with a rare chance to drop some other loots (as well as random zone loot). I just tested him about 20 times, and he dropped shoulders for me every time. Are you all killing him at an appropriate level? If you are above 19 he grays out and no longer drops loot for you. If you're killing him below 20 then I'm not sure what's going on. There isn't anything special about his setup, it's just a regular random loot table with one item (shoulders) set to drop every time.

are these smart loot shoulders? and are the people having issues BL?
Can you confirm that smartloot will drop shoulders for a bl fyreflyte? Wouldnt be the first time BL loot table has muxed up something

I've been killing him alternatingly with a chrono'd SK, Brigand, and Dirge, mentored to level 15 each time. He is generally blue-con and aggressive, and he simply is not dropping a treasure chest of any kind. I'm on the Antonia Bayle server.



While you're looking at this, may I also inquire as to whether the Reanimated Nexus Scion in Greater Fay is spawning correctly, if at all? I've sat at his spawn point, same scenario with a chrono'd character, clearing all surrounding mobs and he's not chosen to make an appearance. He is listed as dropping another slot in the same series as the Crab.

Maybe I'm just missing something in his spawn mechanics.

Just out of curiousity I chrono'd down to 15 and kill the crabs for a short while. The regular ones occasionaly dropped a chest. The coldwind king crabs did not drop a chest. It could be just the rng, but if they are supposed to frequently drop chests, I didn't see evidense of that.

You really shouldn't be killing crabs. Bad things will happen to you.

Just out of curiosity, I went to the beach to test this. I spawned the King Crab twice. First time he dropped a small chest with a requisition thing in it. Second time he dropped no chest at all. Was mentored to 15 (from 20). King Crab was blue con.
For what it's worth, this was also on Antonia Bayle.

Sorry, been too busy to check in on this thread regularly. I'll take another look at this when I have time. For now, I have no idea what's going on with it, since it's dropping normally on internal servers and everything appears to be set up correctly. I'll need to play around with it a bit, but don't currently have time for that.
I'll let you know if I discover anything.
