I have narrowed this to most def a pc issue rather than a game issue but thought someone might have some advice. I was on last night and game froze so I had to x out. Since then I can go to launch pad and try going to either the character list or to a specific character, both go to a black screen for a moment then end. I have tried : validate assets, remove and reinstall game, update nvidia drivers, disable nvidia and run from on board graphics... run as administrator and without, tried windows 7 comatibility mode. All these things produced same results as mentioned. Other things are working fine. My hubby and I are playing on 1 with some toons on selo and they are working fine. I have ran out of ideas.
1) I always use the full client of the game. It's enough to load its once, and then it's only updated. Never its reinstallation is required. It works from any place. This not that game which needs installation. I copy the client on other comp and just I start a game. 2) It's not sure that you use optimum for this game (in relation to your configuration) the driver. NVIDIA GPU Reader in idea has to help to pick up an optimal variant (https://www.nvidia.com/object/gpureader-faq.html). I didn't understand from what what you switch to. The on board graphic chips can be insufficient for this game if only you have not a laptop capable to start this game. Or choose the optimum driver on this page: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us 3) Never used rights of admin for start this game. In it there isn need. Besides it's not safe. 4) Windows comatibility mode precisely useless thing. I don't know why it's necessary (I don't remember that it though once solved problems) 5) I am very glad that I don't use Windows (https://distrowatch.com/ .. Kubuntu which ships with KDE is nice idea ). I would try unzipping the directx9.0c files directly into your Everquest 2 folder http://eq2wire.com/files/dx9eq2.zip
I'm having a similar issue atm .. i cant seem to load into the game from character select .. it just keeps going back to character select.. the odd time i do load into the game it drops me in about 30 seconds... ive tried resetting pc checking updates on gpu validating files and putting dx9 into eq folder .. nothing seems to be working
