Butcherblock- Calling All Decorators

Calling all Decorators!! Rings Within the Circle guild, on Butcherblock Server will host several server events, celebrating our 2 year anniversary and want to share it with you! We have the most spectacular events planned for you as we are searching for the most “Extreme Home.” Butcherblock has the most talented designers in all of Norrath and we wish to honor and showcase your talents.

Are you interested? Here are some guidelines:

• First: It must have actual living space inside, so if you wanted to live in such a home in real life, you could.
• Second: It must be easy to navigate and see the important parts. Puzzle houses are fun but not really extreme homes.
• Third: Other than the layout editor, no third party programs such as visual programming will be accepted. We want to see what you have created with tools available in game.

Are your decorating juices flowing yet? Features we are looking for:
"Extreme Homes" features a homeowner that has pushed the boundaries of the meaning of the word extreme. Create a unique house that requires you to think outside the box. The size is up to you. We only ask that it be unique and special and true to your design touch.

Judges will be looking for:
1. Creativity.
2. Ease of navigation.
3. Is it livable.
4. Is it unique.
5. Does your theme shine through.
6. Does it push the boundaries of extreme.
Scale, style and location does not matter, other than Butcherblock server is mandatory.

Judging will be accomplished by utilizing a point system, from 0 to 5. Points will be tallied and the house with the most over-all points will fall under 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, with an honorable mention for 4th place. No judge is allowed to have a home entered into the contest, they either enter or judge.

All homes to be entered for this contest must have the word EXTREME, at the end of your homes name. Entry deadline is May 15, 2015. Please send an in game mail to Aerfren or Saphiredreams with your entry information. We need Size (Massive, Large, Medium, Small, etc.), Name of home and author/owner. We were going to ask that you not publish the screenshots early, but because of the tour being published early, we are now allowing it. Winners will be announced on May 20, 2015. If you are in need of a carpenter, please send Aerfren or anyone in Rings Within the Circle an in game mail or tell and we will be happy to help you out.

I don't have time to decorate an entry as I'm up to my neck in projects already, but if you still need Judges, I'll be more then happy to help. My toon there is also named Moonpanther. Just let me know what you need and I'll be there with bells on.

BTW, I think it is awesome all these guilds are stepping forward with decorating contests...with real judges....it's so exciting!

actually, since you have all the way to the 15th of may to sign up, let's make it even easier. if, on May 15, your home has the word extreme tacked in it anywhere, we will visit it. you can tell us in the forums or by email or by pm or by ingame mail if you have entered and what the name is. but we will be taking it one type of house at a time starting with houses in the hof. it will be easier to make sure you aren't missed if you post here or tell us in some manner. but if you forget to do so, we will be looking for the name with extreme in it. that was published May 1 or later. we don't want to miss anyone and there have been several already letting us know they are entering. which is wonderful. so don't forget to get your entries in.

if you have entered the other contest, it is fine. you can republish as late as May 15 with the word extreme in the name and you will still get counted and judged.

Don't forget guys, you have until May 15 to enter this one.

Also wanted to tell you about something that will make your decorating life easier. So you published before May 15 for another contest or simply to get to hall of fame and now want to enter our contest right? but "extreme" is not part of the name and you hate to unpublish and lose your listing. you don't have to.

type the command /republish house
this will give you a box for renaming the house. it will ask you to take a new picture. then you click ok. then you get an emote: house updated

you don't lose your place in hall of fame. you don't have to unpublish at all. you don't lose your likes. a totally benign practice. then when the contest is over, you can do it again to remove the word "extreme"

Oh such a knowledgeable piece of info to have. Thank you for informing us of this option, suka! I will have to keep this in mind for the future.

Wondering how many houses a decorator can enter?

I would suggest about 5. but we didn't really set a limit. that's because we are a small server and some people have older homes that fit the bill - or they might have time to do more than one. the only thing we will limit is that one toon won't get more than one prize so if you have a house that gets first place, the only way it would be fair for you to win all three prizes is if you have absolutely no competition. of course, though, if say your mage and your rogue both entered, we would consider them two different toons because we wouldn't know they were on the same account.

the main thing is to get as many people to enter as we can. you may have 4 really nice houses but the judges may agree on only one. or they might come up with a tie for two. but at least if you enter more houses, you stand a better chance at winning.

so it is really up to you. also, if your house is entered as being someone else's decoration, then they get the prize. like someone has decorated 2 of my houses. i would not be eligible for a prize at all because i am the host. but if they enter a house they decorated, owned by me, and get me (and i always do) to add their name (like by Ceyarrecks on some of mine) then that is their entry, not mine. i don't qualify for the prize, they do.

let me know if you have more questions. we try to be fair, and we also try to encourage talent. there is so much talent on our small server. we plan to showcase the winners and ask that everyone showcase their homes on the forums for others to see. you can actually start publishing pictures anytime. we lifted that restriction because some of the houses on the tour are being entered. not the ones i did, of course, but the others.

I think it's a great idea that if you add the decorator's name, they win, since the work was theirs to begin with. This is a great way to allow the decorator to submit the entry, if the homeowner is not interested in participating.

I certainly understand the need to have the owner credit the decorator, though, else people could randomly pick homes of people who are no longer playing, say they decorated the home, when in fact they may never have done so.

While a homeowner is not required to put the decorator's name on a home, I think it's wonderful when they do credit the work to whom credit is due.

Judges, the only rules for judges is that you stay impartial even if all of your friends enter. and that you don't enter a house yourself. you don't have to be in our guild, and you don't have to live on our server. you do have to come visit our server to judge however and i will need to know the name of your toon who is judging.
