quite simply zerks don't have the tools to do the job as well as some other tanks in the MT spot. there have been a few points in time when we did, for short periods of time before those tools were nerfed down due to the incoming complaints from the other tank classes.

you should just accept the role of offtank, decent heroic tank and exceptional AE tank.

Wow. Been gone a while and I see the conversation has not changed on any forum. Been gone for about 8 months from the game and was only playing for 5 months before that after a 10 month hiatus. Anyone who knows anything about the zerker class knows that they are a dps OT. Personally I miss the days of holding a giant sword to duel wielding for dps but the game has changed but the class has remained the same with the same class structure. All tanks generate hate at about the same rate it's just how they generate it. Zerkers gain agro with aoe dmg/gibe. MT is all about standing in a corner (for the most part) and taking the hits which is why (monks) as of 8 months ago were #1 MT choice cause of uncontested block on off hand which no other class had. Zerkers with BF are king of small hits. BF is garbage against spike dmg. Ultimately the person who is contesting that zerkers are great MT's is trying to rally the rest of the population to start calling for either revamp of the class or to nerf the other classes to make zerkers on par for MT'ing. As a zerker since almost release I have loved being a OT rather than standing in a corner. It's where the skill comes in to have fast resonse to save healers/dps, quickly get in if the MT goes down etc. Knowing the limitations of a class is key to knowing how to play it. If all you want to do is MT on a zerker then by all means go do it. If you want to OT do it. But don't cry cause no one agree's with you that a zerker's primary job is MT? Everyone will disagree with you and you will not win the argument against any of the top zerkers in the game. I agree with all who say just because you can doesn't mean you are best suited for the job.

on a different note, been playing TOR since release and wanted to know if the changes and new expansion are worth an old school zerker coming back to play again. How's the new content?

very casual minded content so far Jimbo

In other words its not made for people who cleared Vallon's Tower HM and PoW. Oh god people are killing entry level expansion raid zones with PoW decked gear? Say it isn't so! You'll get your gut wrenching hard content soon 1%. They said these three zones are the last we'll see in the next month or so. You have plenty of challenge mode versions to kill as well.

It's mostly bridge content for those that just cleared ST EM and are working their ways up.

And thank god for these Zerks. How many years have we wanted Stunning Roar to be less then useless? Damn, thank god.

Actually i was kind of hoping to use that skill again...

and idk where this "plenty of challenge mode versions" are in game, can you direct me to them?

probably not worth coming back to. most hardcore guilds died years ago, what are left are a mix of mushy second stringers with ADHD and bad attitudes who think they are better than they actually are.

Gotta admit this isn't far from the truth, but this game is definitely worth playing. Hardcore is a term that died a long time ago, when most of us grew up and had families, etc. It isn't a demographic that is worth targeting anymore really because it is just a fraction of the population, and it isn't a great idea business-wise to cater to that small percent tbh.

Heck I'm considered casual by most standards because I didn't kill the last ~10 mobs from last xpack, yet I still play 4+ hours per day and raid three days. And I can tell you everything about almost every zone in the game and almost every class in the game.

EQ2 is what you make it. If you want to play to beat every mob and look down on others, you can still do that (assuming you can prove you're worthy of a spot on their rosters). But if you are looking for WoW 2 where every mob is dead to PUG raids in a month, this aint the place.

If you want to have fun exploring the game, leveling multiple characters, making friends---you can do that too. You will probably get railroaded by someone more hardcore than you if you are in Sebilis at the same time, but you can do it and have fun.

Or you can be like me. Play your classes well, make raids when you can and still balance a healthy home/work life. Are you gonna get the Mythical cloak for killing Rallos Zek? Nope. Suck it up tho, you can still win without it.

When a hardcore guild dismantles, the remaining usually leave to other hardcore guilds or form new ones. Has always been the case.

Say what you will, but DoV (if you count SS with it as well) has been one of the most hardcore raid heavy expansions that's been debuted for EQ2 since TSO. Don't let nostalgia blur that reality either saying something like Classic EQ2, DoF (exception of DM) KoS, RoK having harder raids (both being incredibly PUG friendly back then). Things are a lot less casual and the gap between a group only character compared to a high end raider is beyond what its ever been.

My guild (or rather raid alliance brig) has suffered through tough times in the past years. Some people had to quit due to life, or had a change in schedule ect. In June, we were about to progress into HM Drunder, however our raid was hit by two crippling blows when the first, our two major tanks left (i was OT), along with some of our healers. Our best DPS decided to become our new MT. Later, our raid leader had to quit due and change his time schedule due to rl issues. Sadly it took us while to reform, and only since last month did we finally get to Drunder HM after we got on level with the new members over time. The stair case for raiding is extremely high in the past two years and it takes a extremely stable and dedicated members to even imagine of clearing an expansion.

And don't let these forums of only a fraction of EQ2 members fool you. Remember, this game has been around for 8 years. The main reason a lot of people leave is because RL get to us. Either we can't afford to pay for it, we got married and had kids, we got out of high school or college and had to devote our time to our jobs, or friends told us to join other games. 8 years can be a life changer for many. So the people spamming "THIS GAME SUCKS SINCE MY MEMORY CLOUDED WITH NOSTALGIA SAYS SO 100% FACT! DISAGREE AND YOU'RE A DEVOTED PUPPET BEING PAID BY SOE!" over and over aren't really fooling anyone other then to boost their ego. Hell if you hate the game, why are you registered to it still lol?

There's a lot of things I dislike about the game either what the developer has done to it, or hasn't done to it. But you have to be reasonable about it and not allow emotion to rule over every single decision.

I must be confused. I thought this was the berserker discussion thread. Came in here to see people discussing nonsense.
