Are you an Aussie MMO veteran that has become totally disillusioned by the latest MMO offerings? Are you a new player that has heard good things about Everquest 2 and want to hit the ground running with a kick-*** group of MMO vets? Read on …

Epoch: Definition - a particular period of time marked by distinctive features, events, etc.

Getting back to our roots, Epoch Gaming is embarking on a social experiment of sorts. Over the past decade, MMO’s have come and gone along with their various gaming communities. But there are some games that have stood the test of time, introducing fresh ideas, content, lore and mechanics as player needs have evolved.

One such game that encompasses all of these traits is Everquest 2, and with more frequent announcements of Everquest 3 (or Everquest Next) being developed in the not too distant future, Epoch Gaming is proposing something for new and old gamers alike.

Whether you’ve never played Everquest 2 before or have been at the pinnacle of end-game raiding content, we invite you to join us and re-discover all that Everquest 2 has to offer. Unlike newer MMO’s, Everquest 2 is a game that has reached maturity in terms of balanced game mechanics, a vast array of content, extensive lore to explore and follow, solo, group and raid and PVP content for all levels of player ability. While min/maxing is the mandate for many, we propose something new, something refreshing, an approach that will allow you to enjoy all that Everquest 2 has to offer. This approach will also allow people to begin with the Free-to Play option and make an educated investment in paid content as they progress if/when they choose.

    Players are encouraged to:
    · Create multiple toons, with multiple classes and multiple tradeskills and multiple factions (one of each major class discipline is recommended (plate, chain, leather, cloth)
    · Follow a timeline for game content guild-wide (i.e. turn off the xp once a certain level is reached during the period)
    · Complete solo quest timelines, heritage quests, signature quests and access quests for each nominated area and READ the chat bubbles as you go (no fast click-throughs, read the quest chat and follow the storyline)
    · Complete collection quests for each nominated area
    · Participate in all group zones for each nominated area
    · Participate in all raid zones for each nominated area
    · Participate in PVP on occasion (normally during drunken Friday night binge drinking sessions to forget the troubles of the working week)
    · Participate in all festive encounters (Christmas, Halloween etc.)
    · Complete game achievements (solo achievements plus raid achievements e.g. short-handed, sense-of-urgency, flawless)
    · Have a real-life and keep your weekends to yourself to enjoy with your friends and family (by all means keep playing Everquest 2 if you have no friends, family or for that matter, a real life)

True to our name as the definition for Epoch suggests above, we will nominate specific periods of time for each section of Everquest 2 from the original EQ2 release through all of the game updates and expansions. This is not a race, the idea here is to participate in everything the game has to offer. However, rest assured that the leadership team will nominate enough time for each area of the game to allow you to immerse yourself with each character (or just one if that all that real-life permits). The Golden Path questline series is likely to be the general rule of thumb for progression but we may deviate depending on the number of people that show interest in this new approach and member sentiment.

A guild calendar will be made available to all members to plan their playtime and progression for each character. Forum participation will be an integral part of allowing you to plan and track your progress as well as request help/advice etc. Epoch uses Mumble for voice comms, you don’t have to talk but are expected to at least have the ability to listen when participating in group content.

Mature players need only apply. That is, you should ideally be over 18 but have a license to act like a 12 year old on occasion. There will be swearing, offensive and indirect remarks about your mother or other members of your family, the occasional drunken outburst, purposeful raid wipes (otherwise there’d be no opportunities for reflecting on “remember the time when …”), opportunistic guild screenshots to post on the news page, crazy naked (no gear equipped) raid runs and a whole lot more.

The focus will primarily be PVE content, that’s not to say we’ll never to any PVP but it won’t be a prioritised over organised PVE. We may even experiment with EQII Share (social media plugin) and track your progress via Facebook (advise you create a new account when you create your toon and then link).

Raid loot allocation will be monitored using Suicide Kings. This is the simplest and fairest method of loot allocation for “casual” guilds.
