assassin recived a TON of PvP damage nerfs, why?

because i said that i PLAY with my hits window open and can SEE the hits and WHEN i hit hardest is WHEN my temp buffs are on.

my pvp window does not show anything about pvp cb/pot it only shows leth and tough.

Hover over any of your PVE stats, IE AE autoattack, CB, POT, MA, Flurry. It will list the actual PVP conversions.

then it must be bugged. i'm getting my biggest hits consistantly with my temps up, 100% of the time.

that's mathematically impossible if i'm currently over cap at 280cb/pot (my current solo stats in pve with pvp gear on)

yea.. this class absolutly needed a nerf to shadow step and assassinate and our heals too

because this pally only parsed 10k? less then me in this run and kept me target locked to him the entire match and couldn't be killed even with 40% strike thru and 30% accuracy. he also held the ball the almost the entire time..

and this one i was target locked to tanks like 98% of the fight and again none would die and mind you this is BEFORE your nerf to the class.

so ya.. assassin was doing WAY TOO MUCH DAMAGE

ok.. so i ran bg's today after raid and as always it was wicked fun even when i was getting stomped and i got stomped a whole lot.

i'd say.. i dominated 10% of the matches was fairly average to good on 50% of the matches and got stomped like a red headed stepchild on 40% of the matches.
does that seem overpowerd? i don't think so

shadow step hit for 13k median out of 143 hits. out of those 143 only 30 were over 18k... i still don't see how you put the range of shadow step at 18k-25k. that's some serious inflation or i'm severely undergeard?




count them yourself. (won't let me post the data cos it's more than 1k characters. so separate)

i know i don't have the best gear in bg's but i'm not terrible either and usually parse around the top.

so SS gets a 50% reduction means that my median damage will be 7.5k? really? like one ranger auto attack?

are devs reading this?

because this is REAL data. not some hogwash and a few cherry picked parses along with bad players looking to get everyone else nerfed so they can have a chance at not sucking so bad.

really... don't put those changes to SS and assassinate it's not warranted.. the class will be fine after the coustic and carnage nerfs and that's just two of the 7 or 8 nerfs you put in test.

oh and splash of life..

it healed for about a million hit points in those 30 or so matches. now take 1/6 of that since it heals my entire group and you get about 165,000 hp that i healed myself. now, divide that by 29 matches and it healed me for 5k hp.. LOL omg overpowerd! i have about 60k hp.. it heals me for about 10% of my hp per match.
for a class that needs to be IN MELEE range open to ALL attacks not at a safe distance how is healing 10% overpowerd?

Okay first off I need to comment on your parse, not even because it was low, but because you obviously have no idea how to not target a tank. Seriously I will bestow upon you a very good tactic... move out of range for like 3 seconds, let taunts wear off and then pick 1 target that needs to get burned, temp up and burn down. Whats that you say, my temps are down??? Well then get more reuse and learn not to use them all before you get a target in the open.

Also, Evade, and use getaway if needed, it will make you AOE immune until the stealth wears off. Or spec for the AOE immune on Evade. I am sure as an Assassin you are using Exploit Weakness.

You show those SS hits... in which they were most likely also reduced by damage reduction coupled with toughness. Sure I don't hit tanks all that hard with SS or someone with high toughness and damage reduction going. But it is not just about this skill, it is about this being a tremendous opening ability... as it ports you into your necessary range for DPS, hits very hard, has a low recast AND can be refreshed with a 6-7s recast ability.

You also have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to SS and Assassinate. Because these being nerfed are to balance 1v1s and overall spike damage output. As it currently stands the Assassin is far too powerful in this respect. The Assassin should kill fast, but killing someone in about 1-2s is not balanced at all. If you compare this to a Beastlord I will just disregard your entire post. Everyone knows they are very overpowered... so what does that mean when you compare an Assassin to them... think on that one for a second.

I can easily kill plenty of classes in 1-2s WITHOUT temps. This is not bragging or anything, if you know the proper sequence of buttons you will win, simple as that. Ask people, unlike you I have tons of setup 1v1s where i do not use temps other than maybe PFT or Concealment.

Davngr, it is very simple really. You are complaining about these nerfs in PVP when you don't even know how PVP stats work. The comment about "PFT giving you your biggest hits" was proof of that. You need to come to Nagafen to actually PVP and learn about min/maxxing SPECIFICALLY FOR PVP before you can even speak with any real authority on the subject of PVP. Let alone the balancing of a class in which many other players have far more PVP-centric experience than you, and whom agree with me.

You coming in here and telling PVPers how PVP should work when you have very little real experience with it is like me telling you how you should raid. Because, frankly I would not, as I have no real current tangible experience in it.

With that said I have been on PVP servers since about a year after playing this game, and I have been playing since around 2005.

You really are overselling it. Im in almost full 95 BG gear including the bow... average hits pretty much across the board 1200-2400.. For sure there are spikes - one game I trawled through the parses had a 16k which made me lol...normally 6k is about the best I can expect so god knows what else was going on there with debuffs, low level opponent etc.. but thats out of many 100;s the vast majority on non tanks is under 2500. Frequently significantly and only very very few times above 3k.

still no parses or any actual data of any type. just your usual spill of hot air about how i don't know how to play and you're amazing. just quit the class, i assure you that no one would miss you.

also it's hard to back out and "let the taunt wear off" when the tank is TARGETING YOU.. durrr

every class can kill in 2 or 3 seconds, i have been killed that fast by any number of classes and i know for a fact the temps do make you hit harder because i see the hits in my chat.


what is your obsession with nerfing assassin? like other classes don't have equally powerful abilities but oh yea.. you're not aware of any of them because listening to other is too hard when you have as big of a head as you do.

even with the recast it still averages to one shadow step every 35 to 45 seconds so the refresh isn't that huge of a deal in pvp and guess what.. EVERY CLASS GETS A REFRESH ABILITY.


no parses because you know it is average 13k and not the flat out lie big megalomaniac 18k-25k BS you posted. oh btw lol at using mitigation as the reason why my hits are so low.. DURRR what you don't pvp vs. clases with mitigation? srsly.. what a joke.

oh... i said 7k? i should have said 16k i guess. it's what xows used to warrant nerfing shadow step after all.. tried to pass off the highest possible damage as average.

As far as SS yeah, the median damage across 893 hits was 13k... max hit was 37k and many 20k+ hits, and of course the skewing factors of missed, absorbed, damage reduced or warded hits. However, I have a revelation for you, it also parses 3rd or 4th for me... right after you guessed it, Carnage, Autoattack or Carnage, Autoattack, Caustic Weaponry. It parses even higher when I don’t have AE autoattack!!!

The fact that the POTENTIAL for a 37k hit even exists for a 30s recast, non stealth, no range restrictiion, teleport to and refreshable CA is BROKEN. I have other CAs on a 30s timer that do not hit that hard, and guess what they also don't top my parse. And sorry I will have to reparse all of that because ACT apparently acts wonky with a lot of imported logs. I will, this Sunday just for you Davngr… hey look I can spell someones name correctly!

No that is playing with the best options available, just because you do not know how PVP stats work or how to properly spec or equip your character for PVP does not mean that others do not. As far as speccing for Carnage is concerned; that is like offering me a shotgun or a pillow to fight someone with, which one would you choose?

Just because you are blinded by your own inadequacies to play the class and cannot fully realize it's potential, well sorry that does not mean the potential is still not there. In short, learn to properly PVP or come over to Nagafen and learn some more before you chime in about PVP balance. By your own admissions you don't even know what the PVP stat conversion rate is, or even how to find it for that matter. That just proves that you do NOT know what you are talking about, and should remove yourself from any talks about balancing PVP.

also, i asked where i could find a dev post about how the new pvp stats worked leth, level cap> bonus because i missed it.. i guess there wasn't one because no one seems to be able to point me to it.

I assume not the target of big spells by others, so not really seeing how SS is so overpowered be happy to see what healers or tanks are getting hit by and where it shows in that parse. Other wise there really doesn't seem to be a valid reason for the nerf. Thread has a ton of opinions but no one has posted actual parses that show SS or Assassinate to be that over powered, and no data which shows the hyperbole of being one shotted by either CA is valid.

It would help your case if you stopped using numbers that are patently false. Only extremely well geared scouts will have a resuse at 100% for the rest of us though it is not 30s it is closer to 45 or so. Secondly do we really want to start talking about max hits and what can happen? To bring up what happens 5% of the time is hardly sound reasoning, my melee damage using that reasoning is way over powered for instance, and then lets look at what can happen to big AOE from mages.
