Just crashed and got the message 'launch pad not available' when I tried to log back in. The server status as of 2 hours ago shows it as being up. It's been buggy, laggy and occassionally going to a black screen before coming back ok at the same place which is annoying but somewhat expected for a streaming server game. What is naff, is that I was in the middle of a fight so will probably wake up dead. So unless there's some hope of the server allowing me to log in any time soon, I may as well forget about EQ2 for the day.
The only way I know to get in game currently is to bypass the launcher and type your char name and account password on the authentication screen when it pops up. If you try to go to the char select, it will appear locked.
You didn't happen to see the giant red banner on the forums page, did you? Ya know, the one that said... Status: 5/27/2020 13:50 PDT - We are currently investigating a potential issue with network connectivity to the game.
