    The couple stood and kissed passionately. They pulled apart apart after a few minutes.
    “Sorry it's just been a long time since I've been able to kiss her,” Calish apologized.
    Telsi smiled “Now we can actually register as citizens of the city,”
    ~~~~~
    Canty deposited the two boys she had on another bed “Usually we haves hers bys herself or with Auntie Calarys,” she explained
    Calarys deposited one of her sons on the bed with the two boys already. She set her second son she was carrying on an empty bed.
    As the final pinky trotted in Calarys picked him up and set him with his lone brother. “Thanks agains,” Calarys said as she began tucking in her children “Canty I wants yous tos sleeps with Faeberry tonights,”
    The teen blinked “Buts, I'ms nots sleepys.” she yawned.
    Calarys smiled “I'ms nots goings to says its agains,”
    Canty's shoulders slumped as she stomped over to the bed of her tiny cousin and laid next to her.
    Calarys pulled the blanket over the two of them.
    ~~~~~
    Tetriemmy began coughing.
    Kyriu looked worriedly behind her at the sound. She kept walking.
    Screams were heard as they approached the building.
    Senriala laughed “What have my sisters told you about me? Anything? How they never would have learned to sing on key without me? Or did they just tell you I was an inconvenience?”
    Nasara glared at Senriala “She will pay for your insolence,” she cast another spell at the Freeblood. “I believe Father has arrived.”
    Jasala nodded as she lowered the sword.
    Alyerra screamed as the spell hit her in mixture of pain and thirst. In her mind the inner demon's voice taunted “Let me take control we'll drain the rodent and be on our way. No one needs to know and Mom won't care. Or one of them?” Her red eyes focused past the Ratonga to Vani.
    Jasala smiled as the Freeblood screamed. She walked out of the cell and outside to greet her father. Her eyes fell on Casina. “Casina go home now!” she barked.
    Casina swallowed. “But Grandfather promised I could watch and see what happens to traitors. He says I'm ready.”
    Jasala's eyes narrowed “Father could we have a private word?” she hissed.
    ~~~~
    Lady De'Esalcoda smiled “Indeed she is. I like to think her kindness comes from me but I know her courage she gets from her father. I was never one for adventure. I made my living creating jewelry and runes for scouts.” she sighed wistfully “Why don't you tell me about your family?”
    Corlana smiled and took some paperwork from the alter. "As long as you are there, you might as well drop off this and get your marriage license with the city." She filled out the names onto the paper and signed the bottom, sprinkling a fine dusting of sand over it to dry the ink before handing it to Vrei. "Sign there, please." The Froglok accepted the quill and signed his name in the spot for the witness, handing it back to the Priestess for another dusting and brushing off. She turned to the couple and presented it. "Congratulations."
    ***
    "If you's woulds likes, you's shoulds sleeps toos." Bellacouste said. "I's cans stays ups, if you's woulds feels betters." She whispered.
    ***
    "Of course." Alaric glanced behind him. "I would have been here sooner, but I made a detour to aquire the services of this Coercer." He indicated to Jasala that they should step away from the group. "Secure the prisoners." He motioned to Llew to enter. She gave a shallow, curt bow and began to lead the others towards the cell.
    Vani did not like the way the Freeblood was looking at her. Her eyes narrowed and she glared back. "They didn't tell me anything about you. And I can't say I wouldn't have done the same in their place."
    Padparadisch tried not to keep his facial expression neutral as the guards at the front gate glared suspiciously at them, but they said nothing and they passed through un-accosted.
    Padparadisch caught Aloysiius staring at the cavern with the wonderment of a child in the Frostfell Wonder Village and cleared his throat. "Try to keep your facial expressions in check."
    Aloysiius pulled his eyes away from the dark purple lights floating near the cavern ceiling. "I've not really been here before." He said. "Look at that forge! That's a beautiful color! How do they get the fires to shine so blue?"
    The Teir'dal rolled his eyes. "With the souls of orphans." He said dryly.
    Aloysiius' eyes snapped to the Dirge. "No wonder my Mother told me to run away if I was sent to an orphanage."
    Padparadisch sneered. "That was sarcasm. Now which way do we go?"
    "I dunno. She's your ex."
    The Dirge growled. "I suppose we could check the Opera House." He turned his wolf towards the path, but paused. "Wait. You still have a speaking stone on you? Try to contact Vani."
    Aloysiius raised one eyebrow. "You sure?"
    "Yes." The Teir'dal managed to both growl and hiss the single word.
    Aleteriq rubbed his eye again. "Um...I have-I have one brother and one sister and-and-um. Th-they are both mages and..." He sobbed again. "I'm worried. I-I don't know where they are or if they-if they are alright." He sniffed. "I-I know what they do is important, but-but-"
    “Thank you both for everything,” Telsianya whispered.
    Calish smiled “So first to... where do we go to register? Back to the Guardhouse?” he ran a hand through his long turquoise hair
    ~~~~~~
    Calarys yawned “Yous are probablys rights.” she smiled it had not taken her children long to fall asleep. She walked over to another bed and tucked herself in. As soon as her ear hit the pillow she was asleep.
    Only Canty was left fighting sleep. She was determined to stay awake but her eyelids seemed to be growing heavier.
    ~~~~~
    Jasala nodded. She grabbed Casina by a shoulder and pulled her back “Go wait by the gate,” she hissed.
    “But Mother...” Casina protested.
    “Casina” Jasala's voice contained a warning.
    Casina swallowed “Grandfather said I could watch. He said it would be good for me to watch a master at work.”
    Jasala's voice bordered on rage“Casina... gate... go...now,”
    Casina sulked over to the gate.
    Tetriemmy collapsed into a coughing fit.
    Jasala walked around the corner of the building and waited for her father.
    As soon as her mother was out of sight Casina dashed back over to the group “I can make sure your illusion stays.” she whispered “With Mother this angry you really don't want to blow your cover trust me,”
    Senriala glared back “Even as a child I embarrassed them. I was a blemish to be hidden at all times.” she turned her gaze to Nasara “Running away was the best thing I ever did,”
    Nasara made no verbal reply instead she held a steady beam of divine energy on Alyerra.
    Aly screamed again. “I'm not as weak as you,” the inner-demon laughed as it took over forcing Alyerra's body to change. Her eyes never left Vani. As she finished transforming she licked her fangs.
    Senriala's eyes widened in horror. “Nasara....” she swallowed trying to maintain focus her daughter needed her. Her mind couldn't focus on the horror before her that was real. She blinked “Mesena? Mesena what are you doing?” something tickled at the back of her mind that it was impossible for Mesena to be here but the reason escaped her “How did you get here?”
    Nasara sighed as she released the energy “I hope that coercer gets in here soon. I never missed these guessing games,”
    ~~~~~
    “I'm sure they're alright.” Lady De'Esalcoda said soothingly “If they're anything like Brienae I'm sure they'll be fine...”

    Vrei shook his head. "The city register is in the harbor." He paused. "No, apologies. It was recently moved to South Qeynos. The old bank building, if I remember correctly."
    ***
    Bellacouste sat down at the desk next to the door. Usually there was one of the Guild's priests on call in the infirmary, but with everyone's schedules it was not always possible. She motioned towards Hoddmimir. "Is still more beds, if you's is tired."
    The Arasai scoffed and headed towards one of the empty beds. "Not like Ay got anythin' else to do."
    ***
    Danny knelt down next to Tetri. "Are you alright?" Llew's spell-chains flickered.
    Llew bit her lip at Tetri's condition, scanning the area. "Grandmother. Perhaps you should open a portal and take Miss. Tetri somewhere safe so that she can recover? Antonica has good air."
    Alaric looked from the girl to the direction her mother had gone. "Don't get caught." He told her. He scanned the rest of the group. "Any of you." He turned and headed after Jasala.
    Vani scowled. No, she defiantly did not like the way the Freeblood was looking at her. She twitched her hand slightly and almost nicked the Ratonga's neck, but stopped just shy of breaking the skin, to wait for Jasala to return. The stone, stowed away in a bag on Vani's belt, began to glow.
    ***
    Aloysiius frowned. "She's not answering." He said.
    Padparadisch growled. "We can't go wandering around Neriak aimlessly." He reached out and grabbed the stone from the other Bard and concentrated.
    ***
    Aleteriq sniffed again, putting an arm around Gliepnir. He leaned back into the pillow and rubbed hid eye again, looking very tired. "When I'm older, do you think I'll be strong enough to go help them with these things?"

    “Thanks we will go ahead and make our way there,” Telsi answered.
    “And then to Lord Berrysword,” Calish added.
    “Do you know where he lives?” Telsi asked.
    “No but I'm sure the registration office knows,” Calish answered.
    “Thanks for everything,” Telsi said to Corlana and Vrei.
    ~~~~~
    Casina focused on the Koada'dal "Go on in," she whispered to Llew "I have the same illusion under yours mine will activate as soon as you are in."
    “I'll be fine,” Tetriemmy said between coughs “and I'm not going anywhere,”
    Kyriu turned “Tetri are you sure there is no shame...” she cringed back at the one eyed Ratonga glared at her Danlore and Llew with that withering glare that only she could accomplish.
    Jasala waited until her father was around the corner before whispering “What were you thinking? This isn't just a traitor Father, its Senriala. We agreed the children should never know she existed and you bring my daughter here? Not only is she here she brought the Half-Human offspring with her. Proof of her treason. Why did you bring her Father?” she appeared worried as she looked to her father for understanding.
    Nasara smiled “It looks like someone is trying to contact you,” she said pointing to the glow on the belt “If you would like I'll hold this morsel while you talk to your Padparadisch.” she moved in front of Vani blocking her from the Freeblood's view.
    Alyerra's hissed at Nasara's back.
    ~~~~~~

    “I'm sure you will be,” Lady De'Esalcoda answered. She smiled “Now I think you need some sleep.” she jumped from the bed and waited for the child to lay down.

    Vrei nodded. "If you lose your way, just ask any of the Qeynos Guard for directions."
    ***
    Llew gulped at Tetri's glare, reminded of the look on her mother's face when middle names came out. "Alright then. Let's go." She turned and went in, the others following. Danny kept glancing back at Tetri, causing the chains to flicker slightly.
    Alaric kept his back straight and chin up. One thing he knew High and Dark Elves shared was good posture. "She does not need to know who the woman actually is, only that she is a traitor to our people and family. It is also an opportunity to see a real, Teir'dal Coercer ply her trade. Perhaps seeing this one at work will end those silly notions of Illusions that that Arasai put into her head."
    Vani frowned and looked down. She released the Ratonga and took the stone out, offering Nasara the knife.
    "Yes?" She asked the stone out loud, feeling awkward.
    There was a slight tug in her mind as the connection was made. She could feel fear emanating from the little stone and a cruel smile spread across her face.
    Llewenayah paused as she found the way into the cell slightly blocked. She was not sure which Teir'dal was in charge. She cleared her throat. "I was informed that you required a Coercer?"
    ***
    Padparadisch turned pale as he heard Vani's voice. He tried to push away the feeling. He paused. He hadn't actually thought this far ahead.
    Aloysiius scanned the area furtively as he waited.
    ***
    Aleteriq sniffed again and laid down. "I've very s-sorry." he said again. Gleipnir cuddled up against his side, laying his head on Aleteriq's chest.

    The couple nodded and walked towards the portal.
    ~~~~~
    Jasala nodded “I suppose and the Half-breed? It's a Freeblood now but what about that? I think we should destroy it but Nasara believes it would make a good slave.”
    “You's a priest if yous lets me goes I's promises I'll's nevers steals froms the temples agains...” the Ratonga whimpered as she was passed to the inquisitor.
    Nasara took the knife and the Ratonga. She turned “It's about time you got here. Your patient is over there!” she snapped nodding towards Senriala. “We want her aware of what's going on but we don't want her to move. I believe that should be simple enough oh and no word of this is to leave this room is that understood?”
    Senriala had flattened herself against the wall. “Mesena why won't you speak to me?” she pleaded.
    Kyriu blinked back tears as she heard Senriala ask about her mother.
    Alyerra hissed and lunged towards Vani.
    Nasara raised one glowing hand and caught the Freeblood in the air. “We brought you a nice tender rat for you enjoy and without much work.” she tossed the Ratonga forward
    The Freeblood screamed as she was pushed back to the opposite wall of her mother. “No...I can't,” Alyerra whispered in the depths of her own mind as the Ratonga landed sprawled in front of her. “If I can hold off...” she thought she recognized the voice of the coercer. “Weakling!” the inner-demon snapped pushing Alyerra deeper in the recesses of the shared mind
    The Ratonga was trembling as the Freeblood bit into her neck.
    Nasara smiled “Now that problem is taken care of. We need you to make sure her mind is clear so she can watch this. Clear but unable to move. We can't have her interrupting the meal can we?”
    ~~~~
    “My dear you have nothing to be sorry about.” Lady De'Esalcoda answered as she pulled the blanket over the child “I wish you pleasant dreams,” she whispered.

    Vrei bowed to Corlana. "I should go back to my post now. Thank you, Priestess." She returned the gesture. The Froglok turned and hopped after the couple.
    ***
    Alaric took a moment to think of how the Teir'dal would answer. "It is...an abomination. In more than one way...but, perhaps it may have its uses. There are many Necromancers who would pay good coin for a good specimen." He shook his head. "Let us see how broken it is after the traitor is dealt with."
    Llew nodded. "Understood." She said curtly. She paused, unsure of what to do with the chain and line of prisoners. In the end she tossed the end of the chain to her 'possessed essence', which held it in its mouth. She approached Senri and held her hands up to cast Epiphany, but turned slightly so that part of the spell was cast at Alyerra too.
    Vani's eyes burned as she glared at the Freeblood for attacking her. She turned back to the stone as she heard the voice in her head again. She laughed out loud and continued to concentrate on the little stone. "I'm going to go tell those guards out front to expect my Padparadisch soon and not turn him away." She spun on her heel and left the cell. "Don't have all the fun without us." She said over her shoulder.
    Danlore flipped his hair over his eyes. He recognized Vani from the Tavern in Freeport and wondered what she was doing there. He hoped she wouldn't notice him and blow their cover.
    ***
    Aloysiius watched sweat drip down the Teir'dal's violet forehead. One hand unconsciously went to his scarred throat as he held the stone.
    'Vanimor.'
    'Hello again, my Padparadisch. Are you coming? I remember how much you loved a good party.'
    'Yes, my dear. I only need to know where you are.'
    'You remember the Mihariel sisters, yes? They are hosting. Do be quick, my Padparadisch, the fun is just about to begin. I'll make sure the guards know to expect you.'
    Padparadisch had the urge to toss the stone away like before, but managed to hand it back to the other Bard with a shaking hand. He turned his wolf. "This way." Was all he said before going. Aloysiius followed.
    "Are you going to be alright?"
    "Yes." Came the harsh growl. "I'm fine."

    Aleteriq's eyes closed slowly and his breathing leveled out.

    Jasala nodded “Father are you feeling alright?” she asked wondering about his hesitation. She shook her head “Never mind, I'm sure you're as upset about the situation as we are if not more. Are you sure you don't want sometime alone with the ungrateful wretch?”
    Senriala blinked as her friend disappeared. Fear filled her eyes as she beheld another Tier'dal in front of her. “Please she's my daughter let me help her...” she pleaded in a whisper.
    “What was your name again” Nasara asked Llew “I don't think I heard it.”
    The Freeblood sat up from the now unconscious Ratonga because of the small nagging voice in her head telling her not to kill the poor woman. Alyerra glared at Nasara.
    Nasara smiled “Finish the rodent then we'll give you more,”
    Alyerra hissed before clutching her head. Her eyes began to flicker between red and blue. Her hair began to fluctuate between long and short.
    Kyriu turned her head hoping Vani would not recognize her.
    Tetriemmy fell to the ground again in a fit of coughs as Vani passed.
    ~~~~~~
    The Fae watched the child sleep before silently fluttering out of the room.
    ~~~~~
    In the Flamefist Dojo Tim stretched and yawned “You gentlemen are welcome to stay the night,” he said to the dwarves. “One of you can sleep in my room and the other can use Ky's. It's unlikely she'll be back tonight.

    Carl was asleep on the bed and Samuel had fallen asleep in a corner on the hard wooden floor.

    Alaric nodded curtly. "Yes. I would very much like a private chat before we proceed further."
    Llew continued casting. "Ah'silla Ragefang at your service."
    Vani stepped away from Tetri quickly. "Ew." She sneered. "You should be careful with this one. You never know what sort of diseases these rodents carry in." She spun, not wanting to look at the coughing Ratonga anymore.
    Danny knelt down next to Tetri. He reached out to pull her up into a sitting position and pat her back. "Are you alright?" he asked, the chains flickering with the movement. Rene stepped over in the hopes of blocking view of the chains behind her.
    Vani exited and smiled. She waved as Padparadisch rode up on a large, shaggy wolf. She could see the fear plainly in his eyes, though his face was stone blank. "It took you long enough! Come. The festivities are about to begin!"
    Padparadisch slid from the back of the wolf, who ran off with a wave of his hand. Behind him a human man sent his own horse running.
    The Dirge took a deep breath. He reasoned that it would go easier if he thought of it as a play. He had his role and an open improv script.
    "My servent is rather slow." He nodded to Aloysiius, who had the sense to bow his head apologetically.
    "Well, no mind. Come in." Vani looked to one of the guards. "He's with me." She said simply.

    Aleteriq turned over to his side in his sleep, murmuring softly under his breath. Gleipnir watched him intently. The spirit needed no sleep.

    Ginner looked up. "Is it tha' late already?"

    Jasala nodded “Then let us go in,” she walked back around the corner and grabbed her daughter by the shoulder “I thought I told you to wait by the gate. Never mind. You can come in and watch after your grandfather has spoken with the prisoner.
    Casina smiled.
    “Stay out here until I call for you is that clear?” Jasala spoke sternly.
    “Yes mother,” the young girl replied.
    Jasala turned and walked over to Vani and the new arrivals “Father would like a private word before we continue. Trust me Father wants nothing more than to see that blemish pay for her treason.”
    Kyriu knelt beside Danlore
    “I'll be fine Cubs,” Tetriemmy spat.
    “You'll be fine, but are you alright now?” Kyriu asked.
    “Get back in position both of....” the Ratonga stopped and sniffed the air. Her eye caught a wisp of musty air She closed her eye “Get back into position and trust me.” she met Kyriu's eyes “Trust me Cub...”
    Kyriu blinked “I always have... why would you....Aly... no Tetri... I know she's been in a lot of trouble but look at what she's been through!”
    “Hush Cub and get back in your positions both of you,” she coughed.
    “Ragefang? Are you truly one of us or a Kerra? I would never have thought.... I mean no offense.” Nasara said quickly. She did not want to offend the coercer lest she find her own mind ensnared.
    Senriala did not recognize the voice. She saw the unconscious Ratonga and watched her daughter return to normal “No... she couldn't have... she would never....” she kicked out towards the Coercer.
    Alyerra transformed back into herself. She glanced at the Ratonga and checked her pulse.
    “Finish it,” Nasara hissed.
    “No,” Alyerra answered in a whisper. She glanced at the coercer “No is going to make me kill her either.”
    ~~~~~
    Timothy nodded. He watched both of his brothers sleep. As he watched Sam sleep soundly in the corner he sighed “He's going to need a lot of help readjusting to freedom isn't he?” he bit his lip “I don't know if we should move him or let him sleep where he is.”
  12. Bellacouste Active Member
    "Of course." Vani said. "Now, come, My Padparadisch. We have some catching up to do."
    Padparadisch urged himself forward. Aloysiius stayed behind him a slight distance. Far enough back to be respectful, but close enough at hand if his service was needed quickly, just as his mother had taught him a good servant should be.
    The Dirge paused and bowed. "I trust you are in good health, Baron Mihariel." He tried to keep his voice smooth, but the rasping made it difficult.
    Alaric nodded. "Indeed." He indicated the way to the cell. "I heard that you have been away for a long time. Welcome back to Neriak."
    "Thank you, Baron. I have missed the homeland."
    Vani smiled and slipped her arm into his, holding onto him tightly. "You have been missed."
    Danny looked from Tetri to Kyriu. "What?" he asked in a panicked whisper. "What are you two talking about?"
    Llew had said the first name that had popped into her head. She turned her back on Senri and spoke to Nasara. "I admit it is an odd name for a Teir'dal, but I earned it. A Kerran male once said something rather unflattering towards me in Freeport. I made sure that he apologized properly. He even tore the fangs out of his own mouth and gave them to me as a gift." She smiled. "They made a surprisingly elegant necklace." She glanced at Alyerra. "I am very good at what I do. Certainly better than Qeynos' Redmantle that I hear so much about." She turned her face so that Nasara could not see it and winked at Alyerra.
    Jasala studied the human servant “Surely your master won't mind if I give you something to do.” she pulled her daughter forward “Don't let her out of your sight until I call for her.”
    “But Mother I thought...” Casina started.
    “I told you your grandfather must speak with her first.” Jasala said glaring at her daughter. “Think you can handle that?” she asked the human.
    Alyerra saw wink and nodded. “Charm me,” she mouthed.
    Nasara swallowed “Please don't take offense at my words.”
    Senriala gritted her teeth and kicked out towards the coercer
    Tetriemmy swallowed “I have reason to believe Alyerra has fed on a person. If I'm correct it's not the first time. Cleansing her of the addiction will be more difficult.”
    Kyriu bit her lip “Sometimes I have a sense of things... but even if she has consumed sentient blood it would be the first time. It has to be.”
    Tetriemmy shook her head “No Cub, she's had sentient blood before and been cleansed of the addiction....”
    “I won't let you harm her” Kyriu hissed.
    “Trust me Cub. I will do whatever I need to.” Tetriemmy responded.
    ~~~~
    Tim nodded “Thanks. Sometimes I wonder if I made mistake focusing on Alchemy. I haven't really focused on strength so much... I won't be much help.”
    A loud poof sound came from the first floor.
    Sam woke up and stood ready to fight.
    Carl sat up.
    “What was that?” Tim asked.

    Padparadisch glanced back at Aloysiius. "You know the punishment for failure."
    "Yes, sir." Aloysiius kept his eyes down.
    Vani squeezed Padparadisch's arm. "Tell me everything, My Padparadisch. What have you been up to?"
    The Dirge could feel the sweat gathering on his brow. He began to think that perhaps he really couldn't face her.
    "Listen to your mother, girl, or you'll be sent home." Alaric added. "The Coercer should have begun her work by now." He looked back towards the cell and began walking.
    "No offence. It is a common question." Llew stumbled as the kick landed on her shin. She looked from Senri to Alyerra. She hated that she couldn't warn Senri that they were allies, but the guilty feeling did not keep her from staying in character. "Shall your daughter pay for that?" She began to cast a charm spell on Alyerra.
    Danny's eyes went wide. "You can't! You really can't! The bond with Aleteriq still holds. We don't know if-I mean, if she-" He couldn't really bring himself to say it. "Please, Miss. Tetri, at least give her a chance. If not for the love you have for her than for Aleteriq."
    Rene felt cold listening to the conversation. She glanced behind her. "They're coming back this way." She warned them.

    “I don't need a dumb human watching me,” Casina muttered. She folded her arms and glared at the human.
    Tetriemmy swallowed “I only mean to cleanse her of the addiction... it shouldn't harm her...”
    Kyriu bit her lip before standing back in position.
    Jasala sighed and walked back into the cell. She whispered in her sister's ear.
    Nasara smiled “Our Father would like a private word with you.” she turned to Lady Ragefang “We'll need you to stay if you don't mind. We can't have her distracted by her own mind,”
    Senriala's face paled.
    Alyerra did not fight the charm. The Inner Demon however did. It still wanted to feed, but Aly managed to subdue the primal part of her mind so the spell could take effect. *

    Carl screamed as his hand went to his chest.
    Samuel dashed to his brother's side.
    “Clearly they must be up you imbeciles,” came a woman's voice “Hear that?” she laughed.
    Upstairs Carl managed to speak “Diana...” he screamed again as the sound of footsteps could be heard on the ramp. “Sam get the kid out of here,”
    Tim growled “I am not a kid,”
    “Nor... are you a fighter...” Carl managed barely.

    ((* I was thinking we'd play this the same way we did when Pepin was charmed. You take control of Alyerra's body until either the spell ends or is broken. I'll write things which happen with in Alyerra's mind.)))

    Aloysiius said nothing but stood behind the girl at the 'servant's distance', as his father used to call it.
    Danny sighed with relief. "Sorry-I thought-I'm misunderstood what you-I'm sorry." He stood back up and hung his head back down as the Teir'dal passed.
    Llew nodded. "As you wish." She held her hand out towards Alyerra, keeping the spell going. She was not very skilled with this spell. She knew that the Coercive and Illusionary artes were sisters and there was some overlap, but the Coercer's spells had never interested her. She had always thought that there was no honor in true mind control and so she had only ever dabbled in the barest study of them that she could get away with under Orinsidian's tutelage. Not that she really could have done more with it anyway, since that particular field of study was illegal when she apprenticed. Even now, the spell she cast was not a true charm such as what Coercers used on their victims, but a hypnosis spell that she had once dabbled with.
    She took a deep breath and guiltily gave Alyerra the order to sit still where she was and not touch the Ratonga. She was relieved to see the order obeyed as she moved away from the other prisoner.
    Alaric tried to step past his wife without looking at her, but he found his eyes drawn to her face, to make sure she was alright. He tried to mask his facial expressions to something more appropriate to the Baron's but was not certain if he had done so as he passed her. He stepped into the cell and stood silently.
    Vani practically clung to Padparadisch now. She reached up to stroke his cheek. "Soon it will be just like old times, My Padparadisch. Just you and me. No work. No lines to memorize. No distractions. Do you remember those evenings? Hmm? Just us and some good wine." She purred the words at him in the same sulky voice that he had once admired.
    He gulped as her fingers played lower towards his neck. "I remember." His voice rasped and the anger flared up again, pushing out the fear momentarily.
    "Hmm...do you hate me, My Padparadisch?" She whispered.
    "Yes." He whispered back. She smiled, satisfied with the cold tone his voice had taken.

    "Well, we are." Ginnar said, drawing his hammer.
    "Aye." Nordri unsheathed his sword. "There's no shame it it, laddie, but it woul' 'elp us if yer weren't 'ere ter protect. Nuthin' personal, just th' way it is."

    Kyriu bit her lip she was still unsure of Tetri's intentions.
    Brienae glided over to Casina and tugged on her sleeve.
    Casina knelt so the Fae could whisper to her.
    “They're friends of our's Brienae whispered
    Casina blinked “Planning an invasion?”
    “No not really.” Brienae answered. She looked up to meet Aloysiius' eyes with her own purple hoping he would recognize her despite her hair being down and the fake wings.
    “Right... if you say so,” she sighed as she stood. She approached Aloysiius and lowered her voice so only he could hear “The insect tells me you're a friend of theirs.... I assume you're here for Senriala. Perhaps you can tell me who she is?”
    Jasala stepped out as Alaric walked in.
    Nasara smiled at her father “Let us know when you are finished and we'll come back to finish her. Her brat is on the brink of being our slave.” she kicked Senriala on her way out.
    After Nasara and Jasala were gone Senriala looked up to meet her father's eyes “Don't waist your breath Father. I regret nothing. Running away from here was the best decision I ever made.”

    Tim sighed and started to leave but his way was blocked by a human woman.
    The woman stepped into the room “We did not come to fight” she purred. she wore metal claws on each hip. Both of the claws glowed with a black aura.
    Carl screamed again as though the pain was increasing.
    “Silentfire I did not think to see you here,” the woman laughed.
    Two orcs came in behind her.
    Sam turned to her “Diana... what do you want here?”
    “Silentfire speaks,” Diana laughed “I heard that Carl was back from the void. Our researchers believe he can locate the rest of these powerful weapons.” she drew her claws as she spoke. “Gorgeous aren't they? They're mine now.” she smiled at the dwarves “There is also a hammer and a sword, they could be your's. All you need to do is let us take him.
    Sam pulled the stone from his pocket and thought of Thrain. Maybe the Dwarf Mystic ha found something.
    ~~~~~~~
    Alyerra looked around her. She was in her room.
    “Fool!” a voice snapped.
    Alyerra turned and saw the Inner Demon
    “Our body is hungry and there is fresh blood out there.” the Inner Demon rasped.
    “No,” Alyerra answered “I will not feed on innocent people.”
    “Then we have a duel. If I win I will break this spell and feed. If you win... well you've already given up. If I win I will permanently subdue you.” she charged.
    Alyerra withdrew the rapiers suddenly at her side and blocked.
    Aloysiius squinted at the two Arasai. Then his eyes went wide and he nodded. He turned to the girl. He was about to answer when he saw the Teir'dal exiting the cell. He stood up straight and cast his eyes down again.
    Alaric made sure the door was shut before turning towards Senriala. He glanced at Llew. She flicked her fingers and dropped the illusions on both of them while keeping up the hypnosis on Alyerra.
    "We're here to rescue the two of you." Llew explained finally.
    Alaric walked over and knelt by the Ratonga on the floor. He picked her up and moved her, placing his hands on the wounds carefully to stem the flow of blood.
    Vani waved at Jasala. "You remember the Mihariel sisters, right?" Padparadisch bowed as well as he could with Vani hanging off of him. "When the Baron is done speaking you can go see your little apprentice, but for now we should catch up. What have you been doing with yourself lately, My Padparadisch?"
    The Dirge gulped. "Apprentice?" He asked. "I have no apprentice."
    Vani frowned.
    The brothers scowled. "Nay." Ginnar said. "We'll destroy those ungodly thin's before they corrupt any'un else."
    "Aye." Nordri agreed.
    Thrain frowned at the mound of books strewn open on the table before him. He took a deep breath and prepared himself to dive back in when he saw his pocket glowing. He fumbled with the folds of fabric before pulling the stone out.
    "'Allo?"
    Casina huffed as her mother and Aunt came out.
    Nasara smiled “Either he's lying or she is no longer his apprentice. Perhaps you had sense and abandoned her realizing the disgrace of training product of Blood Treason or maybe when she died? Perhaps fear of her being a vampire and requiring your blood caused you to abandon her. Which is it?” she smiled “Of course if you have no feelings for the Freeblood then I can simply destroy her.”
    “That's what I thought we should have done in the first place.” Jasala hissed “Make the Blood Traitor watch.”
    Senriala blinked “I'm sorry...” she whispered “I had no idea... Lady Bindweed and Alteriq...last I saw them they were being held by an Arasai.” she bit her lip as she watched Alaric with the Ratonga “It wasn't her fault.” tears streamed down her cheeks “They tortured her with divine magic and forced her to feed. They want to enslave her.... turn her ravenous.” more tears fell “I told her never to come here... why did she disobey me?” She gasped “If Tetri finds out...”
    The Ratonga blinked at the Koada'dal “Oh greats nows I'ms hallucinatings... I was trainings as a Coercers nows I'm seeings things eithers thats ors I'ms deads.”
    ~~~~~
    Diana shook her head “What are you talking about?”
    “You are already corrupted,” Carl whispered through his pain “They corrupted me when I held them. I killed my own brother and I was planning on killing his kid...”
    Tim stared “Kyriu, you were going to kill Kyriu?”
    Carl nodded glumly “They rejected me when I lost my ability to walk. Then I was able to look back and realize what I had done. I could sense them... you're probably right I could sense all of them... but...I won't help you find them,”
    Diana stepped closer to Carl and laughed “Yes you will,”
    As the woman drew closer to him Carl's eyes widened. He gritted teeth to keep from screaming again. Tears were in his eyes
    “I know it hurts.” Diana smiled “You'll help us find the others Carl. Don't worry we won't be aimlessly wandering waiting for you to writhe in pain. After we procure the kitten from Qeynos she'll narrow it down and then you will will find them for us.”
    “You're sick,” Tim hissed.
    “As though the opinion of a coward matters,” Diana snarled “Pockscar grab what we came for and let's be off.” She stepped away from Carl and glared at the dwarves “I assume we will have to fight unless you will be kind enough to let us take him,”
    The orc with a pitted face approached Carl'sbed.
    Carl punched the orc
    Sam concentrated on the stone “It's Samuel Flamefist.... I have some information and we have a problem here. Carl can sense the dark weapons. The more pain he's in the closer they are. It must be from the time he wielded the claws.” he paused “Speaking of the claws Diana, a girl we used to know has them. She wants to use Carl to find the rest of the Void Weapons... she also mentioned a kitten in Qeynos who could narrow the locations down for them. Does any of this mean something to you?”

    The Inner Demon growled “You are so weak. You couldn't finish off a rodent. We need to feed.”
    “I know but only non-sentient beings.” Alyerra hissed.
    The Inner Demon laughed “Our body craves it now give in.”
    “My body,” Alyerra growled.
    The Inner Demon laughed again “You wish be rid of me impossible. An exorcism would destroy us and aside from that I'm not a foreign being Alyerra. I am you.”
    Alyerra shook her head.
    “Your mind is split, me and you,” the Inner Demon continued.

    “I am not a Skinny Orc,” Alyerra shouted as she charged.

    Padparadisch's eyes narrowed. "'Blood Treason'? 'Vampire'? I believe I know who you are speaking of and I can say that she had never been my apprentice. Either you have misunderstood something or she has lied to you." He decided to stall for time. His eyes slid past Vani and he spotted the older Redmantle boy and that old rat.
    "Rene and Aleteriq are safe." Alaric soothed the Teir'dal woman. Well, Rene's safety was relative, but he saw no reason to mention that to the woman. He turned to the Ratonga. "No hallucination. Like she said, we are here on a rescue mission. Please do play along."
    "I'm sure Tetri will understand and of course she came along. You're her mother." Llew kept her breathing steady. "We need a plan." She sighed, continuing to maintain the spell. "We uh...haven't exactly thought it out past this point to tell the truth."

    Nordri and Ginnar moved in between the orc and Carl. "Yer gonna need ter git through us first, ugly." The elder brother said.

    In the Guild Hall Thrainuri's eyes went wide. 'Aye! Aye!' He fumbled to shove a few of the books and papers into his knapsack while keeping a grip on the stone. 'Ay kin th' kitten they mean! Ay'll go warn 'er now!' He began to hurry out of the library towards the door. 'Any o' yer kin Holy magics? Yer kin use 'em ter keep th' corruptin' influence at bay, but yer gonna nee' a powerful holy artifact ter banish it completely. An' Ay do mean powerful.'
